Old School Idol…this is not a good thing.
I wondered why no one commented on today’s blog…until I popped in here to start tomorrow’s blog after watching American Idol tonight (Wednesday) and….hunh. I never posted today’s blog. Go figure. So….sorry for the delay, but here ya go! More tomorrow!
Tuesday night’s Idol:
Last night was a throw back to…well, pretty much every other season. What a shame. And we were going in such a good direction, too… First, with the drama latina, ay yi yi. Seriously, I cannot deal with that mess. (Can you even begin to imagine what she’ll be like on group sing night in Hollywood? Stab me with a fork now.) And then we spent significantly way too much time with Braid’s Anatomy. Wow. No words there. Actual real words, anyway.
Slightly redeemed with letting the adorable poppets get so-so singing dad to Hollywood. But we’re waaaaaay deep into the hour before we get a single decent singer that doesn’t make my fast forward and mute button fingers twitch. Hard. And this was done in montage form, mostly. Not nearly enough crying families! I need more cheering, more love, more….actual SINGING.
So, thank you Adam Lambert for single handedly rescuing the hour. (But, lose the Duran Duran hair, k?) He actually got to sing for an entire thirty seconds. Yeah, yeah, he’s a ringer, been on Broadway. (And Kara, I’m not thinking the flirty wink is going to go far with this guy. Pretttty sure he’s not playing on the right team for you. Wild guess.) I don’t care! It was singing. And it was good. And not hard on the eyes. No muting needed. It was like an oasis of musical goodness in an endless desert of Please, Dear God, Make It Stop.
Followed by Heart Tugging Story #2. Thank goodness, like Robert Downey Jr. Jr., Kai can sing, too. (And he sang my parents’ “song” so doubly cool.) Otherwise, wow, so exploitative. And come on, you know they’re not above it. Or below it.
So, that makes two yays. In an hour of yikes. And only 12 got through San Fran, so totally more time for good singing and happy families. Dammit.
Let us hope that tonight brings us more yays, less yikes. I’m not holding my breath. You?
We also get Top Chef tonight, which gives you until 10pm EST to get your votes in for this week’s free giveaway. See Monday’s blog post for all the details on how to enter. So far, the Blog Babe votes are spread out pretty evenly, but there are two chefs who haven’t gotten a single PYKAG vote. Hmmm, care to guess who they are? It might surprise you.
All will be revealed, along with some more MAC, tomorrow. Until then….DISH already!
