Restaurant Wars! And better singers! Not at the same time!

So, on American Idol last night, things were better than Tuesday, but marginally. Better singers were featured, including some who have had more extensive time on the pro side of singing than perhaps was discussed. (That first girl, Joanna, actually has a pretty sweet resume, despite them making her sound like a failure in the music business….) But it was nice to see a few more good singers. Still the requisite side show singers, and the ever-present sob story, only in this case, I really ended up liking her (and her mother) so….there is that. All in all, I am about done with auditions now, and could happily move on to Hollywod Week. But no…still more cities to do. Oh the joy.

On Top Chef…it’s Restaurant Wars week and Radhika and Leah win the Quickfire and get to lead their respective teams to open a faux restaurant in like, two minutes. Radhika gets Carla, Jaime, Jeff and Leah gets Hosea (shock!) and the Euro Twins. Carla truly lets her team down with her desserts, which is a shame and was thisclose to going home. I was torn there, but only because Radhika so sorely fell down in pretty much every single way as team leader, did she really deserve Padma’s PYKAG. On the Leah/Hosea relationship front…yeah, they took it too far (show of hands on the shocked front? No one?) Yes, they felt guilty, yes it screwed up their performance in the challenge. Me…no sympathy whatsoever. Fabio and Stephan totally won that challenge, which everyone knows, both on the panel and in the house (just like they all knew that Hosea and Leah had engineered Ariane’s ouster the week before and weren’t happy. Add me to that list.)

So, Fabio’s front of house charm and Stephans amazing desserts (and truly, they looked spectacular, didn’t they? Despite his annoying arrogant demeanor, the guy does back it up.) Anyway - they are the winning team despite Leah sending out RAW fish (nope, not meant to be sushi) and Stephan takes the individual win. Totally earned.

Next week? All Star former players return to wreak havoc in the kitchen and with the remaining cheftestant’s psyches. Can’t wait!

We have an early winner in this week’s giveaway, as it was based on guessing who was going home last night. We do have a winning blog babe! But first, the two chefs who received no going home votes from the blog babes? Hosea and Jeff. And neither were in danger last night!

Winning blog babe this week is Maureen H. who was the only one to pick Radhika! Congrats Maureen!!

Tune in Monday for a new week o’ MAC and another giveaway. I have my advance real-deal copies of my March release, LET ME IN…so it’s up for grabs!

Have a great weekend…stay warm. Read a book!

So…..what do you think about American Idol so far? Who’s winning Top Chef? Who is you fave?

DISH!

  1. Yeah, this week’s 2 Idol shows were not as good as last week’s, but there were a few bright moments. The lady with the anatomy charts and mispronounced words was a hoot!

I also thought it was funny that the first girl who tried out last night didn’t stick to her promise to be positive no matter what happened. And I understand how some people can be tone-deaf and not able to hear how badly they are singing, but shouldn’t her parents use some tough love and be honest with her? No way would I let my child embarrass themselves on TV.

  2. Congratulations Maureen!

I so wish AI would move on to Hollywood Week already! I’m done with it until they do.

How does Carla keep skating by when Ariane got ousted for last week for doing a so-so job! I admit Radhika did a bad job and they would have had a much better shot at winning if Jeff had been out front.

  3. I agree about American Idol auditions. There is only so much good and bad singers I can take before everything starts becoming a blur. I am definitely ready for Hollywood week and, more importantly, actual live voting!
