Still waiting…

…for the dancing part to begin. There were a few good ones sprinkled in there last night (Hello Ryan’s Sick Step crew - awesome, all of you) but I think I’m officially burned out on the “audition” parts of these various shows. So I’ll respectfully hold off on spending time MACing until we’re at least down to the dancers/comedians/whatever who have a chance of making it onto the program.

So, instead of Dance MAC this morning, how about a little more Book Chat?

I finished up the Crusie/Mayer novel and dug into Jill Shalvis’ Her Sexiest Mistake. (I know, it was out last December and I’m waaaay behind!) But so far, hubba! Why did I wait so long again? Kevin McNight…right up my alley. Nice follow up to JT. Can I pick em or what?

Next up after this is a bit of a break for some straight mystery/suspense from one of my very favorite authors, Brad Meltzer. I was extremely lucky to get an advance copy (squee!!!) of his upcoming release, The Book of Fate. Love the intrigue, and set in my own backyard of DC makes it double delish. It’s been awhile since his last, so SUCH a treat for me. Cannot wait to dig in.

And after that, well, Twelve Sharp of course, the latest by Janet Evanovich. More Ranger for me! Nice way for any girl to kick off those hot summer months.

So…what are you all reading now and what’s up next? There is always room on my tottering stack for a few more…

And a last reminder to enter the Glass Slipper giveaway tomorrow - see Monday’s blog for all the details..(and yes, yes, if you have them all, we’ll work out a suitable substitute. Just call me Monty Hall…we’ll look behind Door #4 if we have to!)

Hope you all have a great day!

  1. Good morning all.

I have read several of Brad Meltzer’s books and really enjoyed them. Dead Even was great if you havent read it - husband/wife attorneys face each other in court and are both told if they dont win their case, their spouse will die. Nice huh?

Her Sexiest Mistake was great. Read it awhile ago. Loved the snappy dialogue.

Am going to Start Jill’s Room Service and still have Donna something or others Not So Snow White up pretty soon - have you heard of her?

Sheridon Smythe’s escort service books are great - most recent Completely Irresistible.

And of course BB in Kilts was super fantastic for those of you who havent read it and the best is a followup for the 4th brother next year. Cant wait.

  2. I’ve just started Susan Mallery’s “The Marcelli Bride”. It’s a continuation of her Marcelli Sisters trilogy that was out a few years ago. Next up after that is Christina Skye’s “Code Name: Blondie”. If you like Navy SEAL heros Christina Skye has some great stories. I have a huge to be read pile, but with summer coming that’s a good thing, right?!

  3. I just finished Room Service, it was great! Jill never disappoints. Now I’m reading Chill Factor by Sandra Brown.

Donna, I said I’m trying to get my TBR pile down to under 15, I didn’t mean I would considering I have another 10 books (one being yours) coming within the next couple of days! LOL

  4. I am in the middle of your newest release “Not So Snow White” and next on my list is “Tall, Dark and Hungry” by Lynsay Sands.
Just read “Her Sexiest Mistake” last week and loved it.

  5. What aren’t I reading? At the moment - The Player by Rhonda Nelson, and I’m enjoying it (Cover is great and is part of my blog for the day). I have the ARC for Anne Frasier’s Pale Immortal, but it’s not due out until September, so I have a little time - because I’m backed up too. Let’s see, Jo Leigh’s Closer and Perfect Timing. Most of my TBR pile is still packed up, hope to get it all out this weekend and see what has to be read for reviews and what can wait. Oh, and a couple of ebooks.

  6. Oops, I closed my tag wrong - silly me (more coffee please). Anyway, also wanted to say that I gave Dance a try, but wasn’t really impressed. The paper had a list of new shows for the summer, and there are a few reality shows (including the new Regis/Simon show - which begins June 21st).

  7. Some great suggestions so far - thanks!

And Eve, you really can’t judge the dance show by the tryouts - it’s like judging American Idol by those first “best of the worst” shows. This year, on the dance one, it’s even worse than that as they are showing few of the truly talented who will actually make the show. It’s why I won’t blog this part. Just not worth it. I’ll wait until they actually show us the dancers who are competing. If I hadn’t watched last season, I doubt I’d be watching either.

Once the show starts and you’re seeing the real dancers, and the behind the scenes work with the choreographers as they try to learn dances outside their disciplines, then competing (and if it’s like that year, they always dance in pairs, which is also interesting) then it’s fun.

This part - yeah, I could take a pass.

  8. Read Code Name: Blondie and enjoyed it very much.

  9. Right now I am reading Queen of Babble, the newest release from Meg Cabot. I think I will have to check of some of your suggestions..that TBR pile won’t be shrinking any time soon.

  10. Right now I’m reading Baby Proof by Emily Giffin. Up next is probably When She Was Bad by Cara Summers. Or the new Carly Phillips if I can get a hold of it this weekend. :o)

  11. The last book I finished was Get a Clue by Jill Shalvis - was great. I just started While she was Sleeping by Suzanne Forster and really enjoying it. Next comes Not so Snow White by some author I can’t remember…:)

  12. I’m waiting for NOT SO SNOW WHITE and Bertrice Smalls A Distant Tomorrow to get here and am thinking the mailman stole them for himself, lol,it’s taking so long… Right now I’m reading Silver Dreams[an older one of her books-it's really good] by Chynthia Thomason and Virgin For Sale by Susan Stephens. Two books? you ask, well I couldn’t find Virgin and was frustrated so I started SD.

  13. great blog, keep it comming.
