Springtime in Paris
So, we’re into the second week of the second grand slam of the year and only one lone American is left standing on the red clay of Roland Garros. Hard to believe, but that lone American is Venus Williams. As sporadically as she and her sister play anymore these days, that’s kind of a surprise. (And..edited to add that I just tuned in to find out Venus went down today, too! Ah well..)
Another surprise, Martina Hingis is back and still standing as the quarterfinals begin.
But mostly I’m watching for Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Can Roger win his fourth major in a row…the only major that has thus far eluded him? Or will the Giant Killer, Nadal, punch his ticket here in Paris again. The only man who seems to have Roger’s number…on clay anyway. Can’t wait for the inevitable showdown this weekend in the finals.
Hard to believe I was there, in Paris, two summers ago, on my way to Wimbledon soon thereafter. (It’s almost here, it’s almost here!) Yeah, researching books is hard work, y’all! Wish I was there this spring, too.
But we’re actually having a spring here in Virginia. This time last year it was already stinkin’ hot and stayed stinkin’ hot. We’ve had a handful of those days, but mostly, we’ve actually had some lovely blue skies, and cool spring breezes. My flowers are quite happy about that.
Enjoy your Tuesday….stop and smell the honeysuckles…and keep entering this week’s SHaQ Attack! So far….pretty good!

Um, tennis? Go Mavs. *gg*
Spring? What’s Spring? Wait, if I think back to my childhood in Iowa - isn’t that the time of year when the temps are warmer than Winter but cooler than Summer? They’ve outlawed that here in Texas. Yep, took it right out of the calendar - said it was a waste of time and we’d just go straight to Summer (if they decide to give us Winter in the first place). It’s only 8:30 and almost 80 - on it’s way to the upper 90s. Oh, and btw, they’ve taken away Fall too.
Love the flowers. We had some, then it SNOWED two inches and killed them. Now it’s hot again . . . I think Mother Nature has a drinking problem.
you have beautiful flowers Donna,I wish I had a green thumb
So we’re having our annual book swap here at work this week and it makes me think of a few years ago when I swapped for my first Donna Kauffman book… ever heard of her??? I thought the title and the cover (The Cinderella Rules) were great so I figured maybe the book would be good, too?? Boy, was I pleasantly surprised!! Now I have quite the collection of her books!! She’s awesome… if you haven’t read her before, I suggest you try her out. LOL Don’t know much about tennis so I’m still with Eve… GO MAVS!!! Have a great day y’all!!
Boy, all these Mav’s fans….I’m feeling so alone.
We haven’t had a recognizable spring or fall here in what seems like forever, either. So I’m reveling in the one we’re getting this year. I can actually open my windows for a change!
Your flowers are beautiful! Don’t feel alone I’m also rooting for the Heat.
Even though Jill and I are on the oppisite sides of the country we seem to be having the same problem with Mother Nature.
very nice.
Love the flowers!
Your flowers are so purdy! Squirrels keep eating ours. It’s driving me crazy. LoL It’s been pretty warm over here the past few weeks..I miss the upper 70s we were getting.
I just got around to planting flowers today. This weather sure has been super weird.
I used to watch tennis all the time and now it’s golf.
I tried to do the first and never attempted the second lol.
I got to see Paris but that was 30 years ago. Would love to go back some day.
My flowers get the brunt of the sun baking them to death every day - this year it’s been cool, rainy, and our neighbors tree is finally big enough to cast shade in our general direction. I’m really enjoying the bounty while I have it.
Now my grass? Different story. I’m considering just mulching over the entire yard and calling it quits.
The flowers are beautiful! A few of mine are starting to bloom now butI need to go out and buy more!
Pretty flowers. I love honeysuckle and lilacs and lily of the valley.
My snapdragons died due to excessive rain I think.
Enuf of the wet stuff already.
Like what you have to say. Your blog makes good since to me.
