If it’s Monday, it must be Germany!
So, last night on Amazing Race, good teams went bad, bad teams went good, then bad teams kinda went bad again…and yay, another great leg of the race!!
We started off with Steve resigning his That Guy club membership by apologizing to his wife for his behavior on the first leg and becoming supportive guy who says nice things about his wife. Aww, way to go, Steve!
Then Team Weeble gets all cocky - on Leg Two, mind you - and loses their edge by not calling ahead for plane tickets to Germany, and goes from third to last in one missed plane swoop. Hopefully they’ll learn early that it’s always a RAAAAAACE!
Mom/Son are still rocking, and I thought it was great that the weather gods decided to let Mel have his paraglide over the Bavarian Alps. Very cool!! And I love that he was so appreciative of his opportunity to do this - and also that he’s serious about being a full partner in running this race, despite being Old Guy (and Old Guy with a groin injury to boot!) Go Mel!
Now it’s Segway Obstacle Course! Not as entertaining as the Cheese Hill….but wait! The other option is cream cake target throwing! And the target? The other teammate! HA! And there are more beer drinking and music playing locals to laugh, and laugh, and laugh at the cake covered racers. Yay, challenge designers! Good times.
Team Lawyer Sibs are doing really well, and Victor seems to be understanding that just because he’s ten years older, doesn’t mean he has to direct everything, but he acknowledges its hard to undo a lifetime of it being the other way. I like this team - they’re both competant and likable and having a great time. Laughing through the pie throwing challenge and, in general, rocking this race. I do wonder how things will go when they experience setbacks, which all teams do at some point. For now…we like them. (And ha! on his sister telling him to stop singing - he’s just so giddy with how much fun he’s having, it’s kind of cute. I’m liking him. This week.)
Cool wood stamping clue thing! And having to ask a local for directions while covered in cake was also amusing. Definitely a much easier leg than the first and somewhat anticlimactic, but still interesting to see how the teams, who all left within one hour of each other, have changed leads and places throughout this leg.
Aww, okay so now I feel sorry for Linda Lost In The Alps. I was so proud of her for tackling her fear of heights in offering to do the paraglider, only to have to defer because of the winds and walk down. It does look like the trail down wasn’t marked very often, as other racers did worry at times that they’d somehow gone off course…but somehow Linda manages to get so far off track she ends up on a road at the bottom of the hill and has to hitchhike back to the cable car place. Which doesn’t appear to be a short drive. Wow, Linda. And awww, he’s still supportive when she shows up late and last. Good job, ex-That Guy!
Okay, so now Victor and his sing-songing is getting a bit much, but he’s still cutely excited. They are team number one. And they seem to have a pretty commanding lead.
Yay, more cake with Team Cute Couple! And they’re also having fun with this. I love them all going to the pitstop with cake all over them. Mom/Son are having a bit more of a struggle with the cake - other teams got to the cherry filled one pretty quickly. Mel/Mike decide to go the Segway route, apparently having done them before. Hope the obstacles don’t hurt Mel! Man, Mom/Son are still throwing pies! Ha!
It seems like the teams are all catching up, to some degree, at the pie/Segway task. Not sure how far behind Steve/Linda are, but I hope they have a chance to finish. Besides, I’m sure that even as nice as he’s being, Steve wouldn’t mind tossing a pie at his wife right about now. Not that I blame him, really. Not this time.
Mel/Mike make up massive time doing the Segway and get to the pitstop castle, only to be able to see Phil at the Amazing Bathmat through a locked gate, which they cannot open. After some very awesome eyebrow porn from Phil, a local walks up and casually opens the gate. Don’t you hate that? That would so be me. They are Team Number 2.
Amander/Chris, Team Cute Couple are Team Number 3. Margie/Luke, Team Mom/Son are Team 4, which Phil signs again, because he’s freaking awesome. And shocks Luke who was convinced the cake challenge cost them major time. Brad/Victoria, Team Older/But Fit couple is Team 5.
To the surprise of no one, Team Weeble takes the stunt Segway challenge. Everyone who did this challenge seemed to have little problem with it. And weren’t covered with pie, to boot. Team Flight Attendant are slinging pies…and still no sign of Linda/Steve. Sky is growing dark.
Team NFL Cheerleader Jaime/Cara are Team 6. Linda/Steve show up as Team Flight Attendant leave the pie shack, so they made up decent time, but I don’t see them making it past this leg. A shame really, all things considered. There are other teams who are kind of interchangeable at this point (Yes, I’m looking at you Team Cheer and Team Stewardess) and at least these two are entertaining and memorable. Ah well.
And then Team Stew gets totally lost trying to find the wood slicer and gives Steve/Linda a chance to catch up…almost. Teams get lost trying to find the pitstop, but Team Sisters, Kisha/Jen are Team 7, Team Weeble is Team 8, Team Stewardess is Team 9…and? Yep, Linda/Steve are last. Boo. And here, last week I wanted them gone. Whoda thunk? Ah damn, a shame they didn’t get further. And you’re right, Linda…hold on to that, it is priceless.
Next week? Romania! Gymnastics! In leotards! (Okay, so maybe now I’m not all that upset about Steve and Linda not being here…) Ooh, Team Lawyer sibs get some conflict, so I guess that question will get answered sooner rather than later. And Team Cutie might be pulling a very unfortunate Dallas Manuever next week with their fannypak! Ack!!
Tune in tomorrow for all the details on how to win free stuff this week. And? DISH! Who is your fave team? Who do you want gone from your television screen? Which names won’t you bother to learn? And who watched the Oscars? Penelope? Really? And not Mickey?? I did like how they did the presentations. Maybe one of the better formats I’ve seen in a long time. Well done, show!

Steve sure did redeemed himself in my eyes. Loved the cake throwing. LOL
I agree about Steve. Way to support.
I love eyebrow Phil. I wondered if you caught that.
Those Older sibs sure like to boss the younger ones
Hi Donna, I still haven’t picked my favorite but at the top are Mom and Son, cute couple, Mel andSon, and lawyer sibs. I’m not caring for team sisters or stews so far. I think if Steve and Linda weren’t in last place they would have received a penalty. Phil not saying anything shows what a caring guy he is, I know he wouldn’t want Steve blaming Linda for the rest of her life how bad she sucked.
I was surprised about the lead actor and penelope too.
I like this amazing race much more than the last one. I don’t have a favorite yet but I’m leaning toward Mom/Son.
I liked the Oscars more than usual. I thought it was well done. Hugh was great. I mean he’s gorgeous, charming, funny, and he can sing and dance!
Thanks for the recap, I hate missing shows and not knowing what I missed.
The sign of a good Oscar show is how fast the show went by. This one didn’t drag on and on like in the past. Good show!
I don’t watch it but I still enjoy reading about it lol.
sounds good
