I’m melting….melting….
It’s not even summer yet, and I’m already going through reality-tv withdrawal. I’m not sure which is more pathetic, that I actually have a life and still miss my hourly fix of complete, mindless abandon…or that I’d give up some of that life to get my reality fix back. What is wrong with The Folks Who Pick Summer Programming? It’s not like we all go off planet in the summer. Maybe it’s just the network programmers who do that…hmmm……
And, I know they’ve tried to substitute new shows, they have. Failing miserably thus far, but golf clap for making an attempt. I tried, Blog Babes, I did, to watch and recap Last Comic Standing last night. I love stand up, I love comedy. I believe laughter should be a daily requirement, just like vitamins. Laughing should be the fifth basic food group, but this stuff? Is not recappable. It’s not even watchable.
Because I care, I will make a valiant effort with the Dance thing tonight, but , honestly? It looks like we’re in for a looooong, slooooooow, booooooring summer. Where is our Dancing with the Stars, huh? Where is our mindless summer fun?
I did see where Project Runway is coming back in July. (Where IS Andrae?) But that’s eons from now. Why must we wait, people? Why?
I have a little TiFaux’d tennis to help stave off the reality show twitches, and the playoffs mercifully begin Thursday night (Go Miami!)….but it’s Just Not The Same. I’m bereft, I tell you, bereft. What is the point of getting Edy’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough on sale half price if you don’t have a good, snarkalicious program to give you an excuse to dip into a scoop or two? Honestly. Someone needs to hire me to run network programming.
On the Good News side of things, I have delved into my To Be Read This Summer (a hahahahahaha, right) Leaning Tower of Literature. It’s still a few more weeks before the next Plum hits the stands, and I’m hoarding the Brad Meltzer ARC for later this summer…so I’m going to give Karen Marie Moning’s Immortal Highlander a spin. (Well, not the immortal highlander himself…I should be so lucky! No, really, I should be so lucky. Where’s a good immortal, half naked hunk when you need one, I ask you? First no reality tv, then no half naked men wandering into my life….what is the world coming to? Am I really asking for so much? Am I?)
See? I told you. Clearly pathetic. Now pass me the ice cream…
Yeah, where is Dancing with the Stars? I think it had debuted last July. I want it now! I want to see Lisa Rinna co-host with Tom and Harry as a contestant. And see Lisa dance with Harry at the end. Joe MacIntyre was on a situation comedy last nite that I dont usually watch, with that redhead named Claude on the show. Harry was on 2 lifetime movies on the w/e.
I watched a little of the Last Comic - yikes - not so funny.
I try not to watch too many shows so I can have time to read. But I do watch Survivor, Lost, ER and DWS when it is on - it is my fav show.
And why wait for Brad Melzter. Read it now and enjoy. I used to wait to savor books I really wanted to read; not any more, I dive right in. How many on your tbr? I must have about 200.

I’m waiting for that Simon Cowell/Regis Philbin talent thing - it comes on the 21st, I think. Other than that … nada. I tried the comic one - and like you didn’t see anything worth my time. I’ll try dancing again tonight (the show, not actual dancing ‘cuz that wouldn’t be funny either). And I’m finally getting back to my TBR pile too - after a 5 month hiatus. Unfortunately, I didn’t stop buying books during those 5 months …

Treasure Hunters comes on the 18th and sounds pretty good. Hell’s Kitchen starts the 12th. I can’t wait for BB! I have to agree with you about last nights Last Comic Standing, hopefully it will get better once their in the house.

Yes, I’ll probably give the Treasure Hunter show a look. Not sure on the Cowell/Philbin one, the commercials aren’t calling to me. Never got into the cooking ones - tho I know a lot of people are excited about Hell’s Kitchen - still, think I’ll wait for Project Runway. I’m such a slave to fashion and all. (Um, yeah, right. *g*) Okay, so I like watching other people slave for fashion.
I’ll check back in with the comics and dancers when the actual show/voting part starts…but at the moment nothing is really exciting me.

The lull between is a long boring one thats for sure. I never watched Last CS before and checked it out and realized I wasn’t missing much. I’m with the rest of you and can’t wait for Treasure Hunters and BB.
I have read all of Karen Marie Moning highlander books except one, and The Immortal Highlander is my favorie tied with Kiss of the Highlander[1st one I read]If you havn’t read her other books, I just want to say Adam is in almost all of them and he is my favorite Fae of all.
