I want to paint an elephant!

On last night’s Amazing Race, we leave Siberia and head to India. And then there are fifteen unaccounted minutes because most of the show was on during the following hour of programming and that’s about when I caught it as I wasn’t watching it - it was taping. Lucky I happened to turn the tv on to get basketball scores, or that’s all of the show I would have seen.

I take it there was bunching at the airport and can’t report on the general reaction to the slums of India other than what we saw in the previews with Luke…when I tune back in, Victor is running around with baskets of hay feeding camels. Heh. Camels.

He and his sister are well out in front and leaving as other teams arrive and begin. General impressions of the teams this week…Mel rocks. I want him for my honorary grandpa. Love how much fun the two of them are having on this race and how calm they both stay as they work their way through the challenges. Cara and Jodi….well, Cara seems to handle things well, but Jodi, wow, lighten up on the drivers, the camels, the race course…just lighten up. Sheesh. Margie and Luke continue to race well and it’s nice to see Luke appreciates his mom’s racing prowess. But didn’t you all want to wipe that lipstick off of her. Ewww. Team Weeble (stuntmen) are my least favorite team of who is left, so was hoping they’d continue having to search for that elephant….just a few more minutes!! Team Sis is racing great, altho they’re not at the top of my list either. Although it was funny watching her transport hay in her shirt until she figured out there were baskets…again, Mel rocks.

At the end, Team Weeble just outpaces Team Flight Attendant, which was disappointing because I was really hoping they’d pull it off. They really do race well, but that cabbie (or so I heard on reading up on what missed) killed any chance they had by stopping for gas. I hate it when teams go out of a race because of bad cabbie roulette luck. They made up so much time - and that was with the Paint An Elephant speed bump they had to perform. I’m glad they got so much out of the race - classy exit!

Next week? Thailand! More elephants! And tigers, oh my! Oh - and poor Margie faints from heat exhaustion….into Phil’s arms! I mean, if you have to faint, honestly? WTG, Margie!

This week? You can win a free book! Just send an email to donna@donnakauffman.com with “Seriously, it’s my turn next!” in the subject line. One winner drawn from the pile of entries and announced right here in this space on Friday.

Tonight? They dance. Or whoever is left upright will dance. I hear Woz pulled a hamstring yesterday and still no word on whether Steve O was ever cleared to rehearse. What a season - and it just started!

Right this very second? Your turn to dish!!

  1. Mel won my heart after he yelled at the cab driver then apologized and said that he was wrong in dehumanizing another person like that and he would feel bad about it for the rest of the day.

  2. Same with me on Mel. I was so worried he was going to pass out or worse. Great team. I swear not many of them read the clue, bunch of skimmers. LOL

I was hoping two that the little guys would go. I thought the other team really pulled it off there.

  3. Susan, I agree with you. Mel’s comment about the cab driver cracked me up and touched me at the same time. Mike and Mel have been one of the teams I’ve been rooting for from the beginning (Mike used to write on one of my all-time favorite TV shows, “Freaks and Geeks”), and they continue to be one of my favorite teams. I love how supportive and proud they are of each other.

  4. nice
