Dancin’ MAC…

First, it’s a battle of the smallest costume for Edyta, Kym (who has definitely been giving her a run this season) and, this week, Melissa! Plus, Stoner Music Dude has clearly run amok. Hang on, we’re in for a bumpy ride. LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

So, the dances are the Viennese Waltz and oooooh the Paso! I love Paso week. Weird to have Paso Week with no Maks, tho. (No Dmitry this season either! Altho I can do without seeing a paso with Holly…) We do, however, have Gilles and based on the outfit he’s wearing - or lack thereof - squee!-I think we get a paso! Alth9ugh I’m totally on board with barechested waltzes. Yes, please join me here in the shallow end of the pool. There are adult beverages and HD television. Lest we miss a single flex of the pecs.

First up are Julianne, fresh off her Favorite New Artist win at the CMA’s (which they never even mention. Hunh.) dancing the waltz with Chuck. To his credit, he really does want to cut loose and get better at this. And, for the most part, I think he did that. But I kinda agreed with Carrie Ann, though not quite as mean girly. Also…did you notice that when he was on bended knee at the end (aww) and stood up into Julianne’s arms that he kind of closed mouthed the kiss? Come on, dude, that’s what we mean by go for it! Sheesh.

LT goes from the tango to the paso. And man, doesn’t it look like he’s dropping a ton of weight? Getting almost svelte there, big guy. Now this is a guy who is going for it. And if anyone can channel his inner matador, it’s LT, the QB killer. I can see why he has a hard time with the non-music music though….at least it’s not Star Wars. It was good, for him, but will be far from best of night.

Shawn n’ Mark with the waltz. Given her last slow dance, I’m guessing this will go well. They stiill have a tough time designing costumes for her little rock body, but this was a bit better. Sans the ruffles of death, anyway. Lovely dance, nice song. I think her only tough time is looking long and elegant next to Mark with such a shortstack body. But, well done.

Tony & Melissa get the paso - good for Tony. I’m sure he loves having a worthy partner this go around. Ok, so after watching rehearsal vid this could be the most adorable paso ever. Not sure that’s what the judges are lookking for. But I will enjoy. We’ll get hot paso later with G. Oh, SO awesome. They get Poker Face. I fell in love with this song watching Quest Crew on America’s Best Dance Crew (go Hok!) and it’s wicked good for paso. Or would be if it was the original. Ah well. Man, electronic dance music should never be “reinterpreted.” Ever. Anyway - she looked a bit stumbly and behind the music a little, but it was still enjoyable - she really doesn’t have a bitchface in her, does she?

DAG and Kym up next….better get more decent scores. He earned better marks than he got last week. I really appreciate his continued dedication. I mean, technically he was cast as “old guy” and he’s really much better than that. They do a kind of hottie waltz. (And is it my dvr, or is the screen sort of pixilating weirdly just a tad?) Anyway - I think they did great and he was the first guy tonight who looked like he was actually leading. I hope they give him the props he deserves. Oh judges. Piffle. Thank God for Uncle Lenny. (I know. Really.) They really don’t like this guy.

Ooooh! Gilles and Cheryl are up. Paso babee. Cheryl finally has a workhorse she can really push. I want to push Gilles. Holy crap - shirtless! Sorry, I can’t type now. Be back in a bit….

Whew! I need a fan. Ice. A replay. Twice. Very, very well done. Notice how the camera stayed on Gilles and Cheryl wasn’t even in the frame half the time? Ha! Camerawoman, I bet. Just saying.

Steve O and Lacey get the waltz. Given the outfits, I’m thinking non-traditional. Love the “back up dancers” in rehearsal. Ok, that was pretty sweet, actually. Nice job for a guy who’s not the lightest on his feet. Or his back.

Ty and Chelsie are up next with a paso. This should be fun! I heart him more every week. They get a very exuberant version of Heart’s Barracuda, which….yikes. Such weird pacing so that was a challenge and I think it diminished what would have otherwise been a good dance. Still, the guy goes for it. Love him.

Lil Kim and Derek get the pimp spot tonight with the waltz. She’s got Elvira hair and Derek is channeling the Beach Boys. Not sure what that has to do with the waltz, which turned out to be quite lovely. Wish I cared more, because that was well done.

Hard to say who will be bottom two, but I think Steve O and DAG should be worried. LT, too.
