Wednesday morning MAC…

I’ve been so behind in my MAC’n of late…

So I finally caught up on Treasure Hunters and, I’m liking the idea of the show. I’m not sure it’s really all that gripping to watch in terms of feeling any real connection to the teams, but I am enjoying the hunt itself and the gorgeous views of our great country. I so wish Amazing Race had taken this tack when they did the US season. It could have been so much better than it was.

So…two weeks back, we lose the Brown team, to the surprise of absolutely no one. They try, but really, just not strong enough. So, it was a real silver platter deal when the grad students had to drop out due to an injury and the Browns were brought back this last week. I can understand the O’Hanlon’s bitterness about it, but at the same time, get over it, guys. Then again, that team is just so hi-larious to me anyway, I took it with a grain of salt.

Now, this past week, it was all about the Karma, baby. I loved it. Not that I think the Browns should or will advance much further, but I was glad to see the O’Hanlon’s get there comeuppance. Well, the two older ones anyway. Great respect for the young un and his very mature apology to the Brown team. He’s a good guy. His dad and uncle could take a lesson or three from that young man. (Sharp guy, too. He figured out most, if not all of the clues, including the lights out at the schoolhouse. I have NO idea where he gets his smarts from. Must be his mother.)

I was torn in who to root for with Team Air Force/Fogle vs The Rest of the Pack. I don’t have a real love for any of the teams, is the problem. I actually like Team Air Force, but can’t find myself rooting for the Fogle’s at all. So those two teams pairing up made rooting for them difficult. The rest of the gang just does nothing for me, either. I loved that they tried to “Fogle” the Fogles, they had it coming, but beyond that, I really just don’t care.

So…I love the premise. Like the views of America and how challenging it is, I really like that they have to solve real clues to get where they are going. I just wish the teams themselves were more engaging.

I think I’ll stick with Dance MAC. :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th - I did!! Here’s one of the photo’s I took last night.

  1. Karma, good old Karma it will get you every time. I like the premise of the show to but can’t stand the phone guy’s voice or even the guy that catches you up on the last week’s show. It’s really annoying.

Thanks for the pretty firework photos, I wish my camera would take such great pics.

  2. pretty pic.

  3. The guy on the phone sounds like a robot. Thank you Donna - I couldn’t put my finger on what left me feeling a little let down by the show until you mentioned not having love for any of the teams. You’re absolutely right!

    Great picture.

  4. nice

  5. I didn’t even get into the phone guy. In lieu of a host, he’s totally lame. Really bad decision to go that way instead of with a real host with a real personality.

The film crew, however, deserves major kudos. I really enjoy the scenic shots of the locations the teams go to. Travel Channel stuff. Love it.

  6. Hey Donna–

Great recap of Treasure Hunters. I have to agree with most of what you said.

I think the next to go will be The Brown’s although I would love for it to be the Fogle’s because I can’t stand them.

I think unless many things change the winners will end up being The Air-Force or the ex CIA team.

  7. I agree Barbara - I think those two teams are definitely the strongest. It’s funny how this show handles the visual aspect SO much better than, say, Amazing Race, and the hunt aspect is stellar, but has pretty much blown how they’ve handled the “personal” element, in terms of engaging the viewer with a decent host and Teams We Care About.

For instanct, I think they should have let the teams come up with names for themselves, during the course of the race, like they do on AR, instead of pre-naming them before the show ever started. I know they did it to make it easier for the viewer to identify the large number of teams more easily at the start, but it removed a lot of the personal element you get to see in how teams would have otherwise named each other or themselves.

Still, good show. It has promise. I hope it returns, with improvements, next summer.

  8. Gorgeous photo!

Watching SYTYCD right now. Taping Supernova.

  9. Loved the pretty pic!

  10. I liked your take on the Treasure hunters. Its hard to route for any team. I agree the younger hanlon kid showed class. I don’t care much for the Fogals at all. SHould be intereting.

  11. Good observation, your ideas are right on.
