That rumba was jive, man.

So, Dancing With The Stars… Yeah, the hour went by faster, so there was that. But, and here’s the thing…it’s not as much fun this season. I do like some of the contestants, but it doesn’t seem to be as interesting as season’s past.

Last night we got the rumba or the jive and it seems like everyone got the opposite of what I’d like them to have gotten, but what can you do?

Some thoughts…

Shawn definitely surprised me with how well she managed the rumba and Mark deserves kudos both for getting that performance out of her and for the challenge in doing that kind of sensual choreo for a minor…with her mom and dad sitting on the sidelines of the ballroom as its performed. Golf claps all around.

Melissa and Tony got so majorly screwed by Stoner Music Dude (who, I’m pretty sure has escalated to crack now) you couldn’t even watch their routine for dealing with all the blood coming out of your ears. Also, the judging? Lighten up. We already don’t love this season, you know?

Lacey and Steve O…also major props for giving him choreo that actually made us not mind so much that dude can’t dance. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him stick around another week and find I’m even okay with that. Mostly because I’d rather see him than, say, Chuck.

Speaking of which…Dancing With The Stars, now with 100 percent more black lace. Yikes that was just uncomfortable to watch. Not because it was too sexy, but sheesh with the jerking head/hair crap. I know you wanted it to be racy sexy but that? Was made of fail.

Now, about the Jive Off….while I might agree that Gilles jive was a bit more high speed than it needed to be, he actually DID a jive. After the major tongue bath that Derek and Kim got, which yes, very fun routine, just not a jive. And Kim didn’t really dance, she bounced on her feet and pointed a fake gun. Watch the tape! I fully expected the judges to be all over Gilles for really doing a jive, but no. it was Level The Playing Field week as they tried to bring the frontrunner down a few pegs. Also made of fail. Because I still love Gilles and really enjoyed how well he did that routine. Still hot.

Entertaining was seeing Warren Sapp get a decent performance out of LT. Amazing what you can do with music that’s actually danceable. He might well go home this week (because Chuck won’t, more’s the pity) but I’m glad he figured out how to have fun. And that was fun.

But mostly my heart belongs squarely to Ty. What a guy, right? Just such an all around, understanding, upright, hard working, funny, truly wonderful man. Love, love, love that guy. Sucked at the jive, and Chelsea sure gave it her all….but with that kind of mindset and willingness to give it all he has and try as hard as he does…I say lets keep him around a while longer. Jewel, you have a gem of a husband right there.

Next week? Group dance!

Tonight? Adam sings! Along with some other people on Idols at the Movies Night. Adam and Quentin Tarantino. Need I say more?

Don’t forget to enter this week’s free stuff drawing. See Monday’s post for details.

So…what did you think? Who stays? Who should go? Who do you love? Who…not so much really? DISH!

  1. I also love Ty. He can’t dance well, but he gives it his all! I read in an interview that he and Jewel have been married a year, but have been together 11 years. There’s a steadfast guy for you.

I am loving Shawn, Giles, Melissa, and yes…Chuck. I know that you are not crazy about him, but he is so doggone handsome!

I wouldn’t mind seeing Steve-O or LT going tonight.

    Looking forward to Idol tonight!

  2. I totally agree with you. Gilles so deserved the 10’s more than some of the others. I want Steve-O gone then Chuck. But it may be LT or Ty - I like them both but they aren’t really dancing much. I tried to vote for Gilles but couldn’t get through so that must mean lots were lol.

  3. Steve O has to go. I just adore Ty but I don’t think he will be around much longer.

I too like Chuck I thought there dance was better then the judges comments.

  4. I turned on the TV last night to watch DWS and it was over! It came on an hour earlier than I thought. I will miss the results tonight because of bookclub, so I will tune in tomorrow to your blog to get the results.

  5. I love Gilles - enuf said - hope he wins - love his moves and he is my eye candy this year. Was happy to see Christiane in the audience Monday. Maybe they will bring him back…..a girl can hope!

The judges - what do they know. LOL. As for leveling the playing field, that is as bad a the popular vote thing. Len, stop being such a fuddy duddy

I was able to get my phone votes in for Gilles but it was a struggle - kept getting a busy.

Ty IS a gentleman, but dancing is soso.
Glad Steve O went. Don’t care for Chuck. Like Shawn. Next Melissa and Lil Kim, but they don’t compare to Gilles. He is IT!
