Bonus MAC….

Sorry for the delay but I’ve been trying to post this since early this morning and something is wacky with my blog site and it just wouldn’t let me post it. Anyhoo…

So, about Project Runway…this wasn’t one of my favorite weeks in this series. In fact, it was kind of meh all the way around. A lot of drama that was hard to care about and not a whole lot to get excited about.

The challenge this week was to design and execute a gown for the reigning Miss USA to wear in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. Pretty big deal for the winner, given the massive global audience. It should have been more exciting. Of course, had they spent most of the hour focused on anyone other than Psycho Vincent, maybe it would have been.

The designers had to each propose a design, after which Miss USA chose seven of them to be created. Those seven designers than had to choose another of the unselected to work with as a team partner.

Most of the teams seemed to get alone rather well. Except for Psycho Vincent and completely unprepared Whiny Angela. I didn’t like either one of them and hope they both go home. Tattoo Jeffrey was paired with Cute Alison. His dress was a hot mess of I don’t know what. But they got a bye. Keith (the ass) was paired with quiet Bradley and I must say I thought his dress should have been in the top. It was beautiful, well constructed (actually didn’t have sagging boobs - is that a new in thing? Unfettered breasts? Because it looks horrible - his didn’t.) But for the swelled head factor, I was glad they were somewhere in the middle.

Severe Laura ended up with Not Hip Hop Michael, a pair who got maybe a minute of screen time the entire show. I liked their dress, it looked great, but it was very simplistic. Uli and Bonnie worked well together on a dress that I loved except for the dangling boob part. What is up with that? They came in second. I’d have gone Keith’s route instead, but the dress was lovely. But structure up top, people, structure! Malan ended up with Jock Katherine and went in Santino overlod with the ruching.

My favorite pair by far was Pageant Boy Kayne and Barbie Boy Robert. Now is that a winning combo in this particular challenge or what? And so, it wasn’t a huge shock when they won. I wasn’t surprised that Malan ended up in the bottom two, along with Angela, but I was surprised they sent him home. Such a quirky quoo, but he was growing on me. I was sorry to see him go, sorrier to see how much it hurt him. Hard, frankly, to see anyone go while Whackjob Vincent is still there, much less his evil useless sidekick Angela.

If you want to see the gowns, go to the Project Runway website and Rate the Runway. I just did and my ratings were almost exactly what the public has voted. Nice to know I wasn’t alone on the Keith love. Well, for his dress. Definitely not for him.

So. I wasn’t feeling it this week as I usually do. It looks like next week promises to deliver a little more on the entertainment, a little less on the whiiiiining.

Overall impression? We saw very little most of the designers this week as the focus was on Whackjob and Robin, with side order of Malan. Yet, I’m developing my favorites.

I like Robert, like Michael and even Laura, and like Keith’s stuff, not Keith and kinda like Uli and Kayne. Meh in the Middle is Bradley, Bonnie, and was Malan before tonight. And at the bottom are Jeffrey, Angela, Katherine and reallyneedstogo Vincent. I just can’t stand even watching him, which is why this episode was so ugh for me.

And yet, I will go listen to Tim’s Take podcast and get the behind the scenes scoop. And I see on the site that my fave from last year, Daniel Vosovic has a blog on the site, so I will take a peek there, too.

Until next week…..Carry On!

  1. It was very different than the first show. They focused so much on Vincent and Angela I was sure one of them was going to get the boot.

  2. I wasn’t a fan of this episode either. It is interesting to read the Tim’s Take blog.

  3. Your post is on target. Keep it up.
