A little random MAC…

So, I was watching Treasure Hunters while working on a craft project for work last night and, surprisingly, found myself actually watching the show. It was the penultimate episode and a pretty darn good one. (And no, not just because the dorky ex-not really ever-CIA guys were booted.) I found myself rooting for the Geniuses, which was a first. But how could I not when their guy crawled around that ledge twenty-two stories up like a freaking squirrel? Because, me? You’d have had to peel me off of the floor inside the window and bodily force me out onto that ledge. NO way, not for any money, would you have gotten me to do that. Yowza!

I thought the clues this time were particularly challenging and interesting. (Although I wish the boat name they’d used for the cryptix was less random and more specific, so teams couldn’t just guess the word.) I thought Founders Hall was pretty cool. Actually, all the sites were. The American History shared in this program is fascinating. If only it could have been disseminated by anyone other than Max HeadCase. Preferably not over….and over….and over.

Team Air Force still rules, and I hope they win. The Southie Boys are grating on my last nerve, along with the dorky CIA guys, so either of them leaving wouldn’t have broken my heart. Although it was apparently not crafty editing that made the final race between CIA and the Geniuses appear as close as it was. It really was that close. How disappointing that must have been for those guys!

I’m looking forward to the live finale next week, when if you’d asked me a week ago, I’d have yawned and said, yeah, sure, whatever. I’m not sure how the live finale works, since this was taped a while back. I guess they just put the race on pause, then come back to do the final bit live. Talk about delayed gratification!

I’m not sure we’ll see this program again, but it has so many good qualities, I hope they fine tune it a little better and haul it out again next summer. Or, you know, not. Summer programming this season has left so much to be desired. And the few we have enjoyed (Dance anyone?) are almost over.

Is it the Fall season yet? And is it me? Or does the avalanche of fall advertising seem mostly centered on like, one or two new shows? (Of course, I TiFaux, so I don’t see most commercials anyway…..but still…..)

So…what fall programs are you looking forward to? For me, my inner reality show diva is shamelessly looking forward to the Big Three. Yes, Survivor, Amazing Race, and everyone’s favorite, Dancing With The Stars. :) (Although if rumors are true and Jerry Springer is on there this season…well, let’s just say I’d rather have Random Rap Dude again. Please America, I beg you, vote him out after week one. Just….ew.)

  1. I am not a big reality show person, so I am waiting for Jericho. The previews that I have seen so far intrigue me.

  2. I’m not familiar with that one - what’s it about? As for scripted shows - I’m looking forward to Studio 60 (or something like that, the new one with Matthew Perry) and I’ll give Smith a try. I’m not even sure what else is coming on! I’m SO out of the loop. I only know about the reality ones because they’re always on in the fall. LOL

  3. I am hoping for Team Air-Force to win. The Southie boys are who I wanted to see go last night…they are such babies….wanting to fight each other on national tv over such trivial things…come on.

  4. Oh I can’t wait for the Matthew Perry show! I miss him so much …

  5. Treasure Hunters was surprisingly good last night! I am also rooting for Team Air-Force. The Southie boys just get on my nerves.

I’m right there with you waiting for Survivor, Amazing Race and Dancing With The Stars! As for new shows I’m looking forward to Smith and Vanished.

  6. Well, this is the synopsis of Jericho I got off of Wikipedia…

Thirty-two year old Jake Green (Skeet Ulrich) plans a brief return to his childhood home in rural and isolated Jericho, Kansas, to much fanfare from his mother and friends, who have had only intermittent contact with him. Jake appears to be hiding something, as each of his interactions with one of the town’s citizens elicits different explanations of why he was out of touch for so long, which include playing minor league baseball and joining the Navy. Despite objections from his mother, Jake plans to leave Jericho as quickly as he arrived.

During Jake’s exit from town, the electronic equipment in and around Jericho begins to fail. At the same time, a mysterious, possibly nuclear explosion occurs to the west (presumably at Denver, Colorado), and a mushroom cloud suddenly becomes visible above the Rocky Mountains. Distracted by the explosion, Jake is involved in a car accident, and is forced to walk back to Jericho. As he returns to the town, evening falls - and news spreads that a second explosion has occurred in Atlanta, Georgia.

With communications and power out, Jake and the small town of Jericho face the challenge of being physically and psychologically isolated from the outside world - not knowing what is left of that world, or how many others are still alive - and of finding a means of survival in the midst of panic and chaos.

  7. Treasure Hunters was good last night. I’ve only caught 3 or 4 episodes (since I never seem to remember when it’s on). Last night I was rooting for the Geniuses… and I totally agree with the building ledge challenge… someone would have had to take my place since there’s no way that I’d even get close to an open window on the 22nd floor!

Summer TV programming has been quite disappointing… thank goodness for baseball!

I’m finding as I get older (and I’m only 29), that I don’t enjoy TV much anymore… most of the time it’s only on for noise. I am looking forward to Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol (the Today Show was showing the crowds at the LA audition this morning).

  8. That new show Heroes looks interesting.

  9. I’m looking forward to watching the Matthew Perry show, too! I think he is so good!

  10. I really enjoyed the Treasure Hunters last night too. It was very interesting. You couldn’t pay me to go out on that ledge, let alone lay down and loook over the edge. No thank you…

I hear they are going to annouce who is going to be on Dancing with the stars on Monday. I can’t wait.

I think I am going to give the show Smith a try. I adore Simon Baker

  11. Wow, Jericho sounds really different - thanks for rhe synop, Kris!

And Judy, Simon Baker? Swoon! That show looks really different - slick, cool, fun. I hope it lives up to the hype.

As for Treasure Hunters - yeah, after inching around the dang ledge they had to lay down and look over the edge?? I know!! Just kill me now!

Woo hoo on the Monday announcement. I’ll have to look for it. And pray I’m wrong wrong wrong about the Jerry Springer casting. Ugh ugh ugh!!

  12. Survivor is the one realty show that I watch regularly. I’m like a crazy person when I miss a show so I limit myself to one lol.

  13. Your post is on target. Keep it up.
