Morning MAC…

Sports first… So, the US Open night match is a wash out when the rains come, but I’m thinking that is probably good for Rafa since he appeared to re-injure a stomach muscle. Then, THEN, my Steelers pulled it out in OT, which meant Hines Ward slept a LOT easier last night after that fumble. He felt so bad and I felt for him. Glad it all worked out in the end. Great season opener, guys!

On to Project Runway, where the designers find out that their clients are their models, who need a special party dress to wear to attend a business function where they are all hoping to get noticed by prospective employers. No pressure. And some have better personal aesthetics than others. (Epperson’s model….just wow. Thank goodness she liked what he came up with. Because orange? No.)

I always wonder when they have to leave for the night, if it makes them crazy not to be able to go back home and keep on working. I’m the work-all-night-till-its-done type, so having to stop would make me nuts. Even if I did need the sleep.

Interesting judge panel. Mark Bouwer looks like the love child of Siegfried and Roy and it was interesting to have a celeb stylist on the panel as well.

I admit that none of the creations really wowed me, but some were better than others. Again, the ones who were sent out first as ’safe’ would have been the ones I’d have kept on the runway as my tops, so go figure. I totally don’t get the judging this year.

I do agree that while the dress was a bit too Fredericks for me, Epperson’s crafting was good, and I did really like Carol Hannah’s soft/hard edge combo. I liked how Logan stood up for himself regarding the Rocky Horror Show prom dress, and agree, it’s a good thing he’s cute. The collective gasp of horror when Heidi said bridesmaid about Johnny’s dress was hilarious. Kiss. Of. Death. And they all knew it. I was glad he laughed with them and took the criticism to heart. It was the smartest move he could have made at that point. Given he doesn’t have the Cute Quotient of Logan.

Qrystal gets slammed for safe, which, totally true and she really needs to go home. But wow, bitch stylist Jenn Rade with the “thank God” comment after Q’s model agrees that she’s not a designer. Rowr. And unnecessary. (Especially comparatively speaking to Rocky Horror Picture Prom dress standing a few feet away…) Heidi can get away with mean because she’s too adorable when she says it and you just can’t hate on her. But Jenn is all Mean Girl to the model (but not to others) and…no, the model’s not a designer, but you’re no model either. Which, I suspect, might be a teensy bit of a vulnerable spot with our stylist. Just sayin.

Then they all gush over Althea’s combo, and while I can understand the more unique POV of she’s showing, which is certainly more interesting than pretty much anything on that runway at that moment, save Carol Hannah’s maybe, I otherwise don’t really get it. Still, golf clap, Althea, just for the risk factor.

I’m guessing it’s between Althea and Carol Hannah. I’d give it to Carol, but I’m thinking, given the comments and the difficutly factor, it will go to Althea. And I’m good with that. Going home should be Qrystal. It’s clear she’s out of her depth here, while both Johnny and Logan do, at least, have some kind of cohesive vision. Liked the Boob Chat between the judges. Cute.

And, the verdict is? Well, I can’t always predict who is going to be in the top and bottom three, but once there, I do manage to get it right. Althea gets the win. And, to the shock of no one, it’s Qrystal going home. (Poor Logan…torture!) I never did see anything of notice from her.

Next week, more tough challenges. More drama!

Now, time for Free Stuff! The winning Blog Babe this week? Is Cindy A! Woo hoo! Send me your address and a few title ideas (in case I’m out of your first one.)

Enjoy your weekend everyone. See you next week!

  1. so glad qrystal (omg, what is with that spelling?) is the one leaving. not sure if she fully found her niche, or whether she actually had one on this series… but glad to see that they finally got it right and sent her home… looking forward to next week…

  2. Maybe I am being harsh but I don’t think Qrystal had very good taste in the clothes she wore herself. it was most definitely time for her to go!

  3. What do you think of this??? http://fox.com/blogs/dance/2009/09/16/adam-shankman-joins-mary-murphy-nigel-lythgoe-as-new-judge-on-so-you-think-you-can-dance/
