Another finale…
Another yawn…
So….about Treasure Hunters the reality show that tried…but kinda failed. The “live” finale was kind of a misnomer, since the winners actually found the treasure back whenever they taped this. It was more a “after the final rose” kind of deal. And is it me? Or is Host Laird Headroom just as wooden live as he was on the phone videos? Very…plastic.
So, in a somewhat tense finale, all three final teams have an equal shot at figuring out the cryptex that will lead them to the final clue and the treasure. In the end, it was the Geniuses who figured out the final clue. Given that all three teams had at least 6 hours to figure it out, you can only applaud the winners for their perseverence and eventual win.
Now we’re at the ‘Live” portion of the show (do we care?) and 10 viewers who won 10K during the season get to compete for 100K (also not live.) The taping of this segment is just as herky jerky as the entire season, though why this surprises me, I have no idea. Even the cameras used during the live segments (again, why people, why?) couldn’t keep focused.
I guess the only real reason to watch the last half of the finale was to find out the exact amount of the massive pile of gold the Geniuses won. Thank god I could fast forward to that point, so I can tell you they will be splitting 3 million dollars (whoa, really) and be done ever talking about this show again. I was hoping they’d tweak it and bring it back….but really? Not so much. I just hope Amazing Race producers took note and maybe thought about making their clues a wee bit harder in upcoming seasons. Give the racers some credit.
Another finale down…a few more to go and then Real TV comes back! Woo hoo!
Oh! And a little clue to help with this week’s SHaQ Attack. A lot of you are getting it right, but to help the rest you a little….I didn’t write Naughty By Night with football player, Gabe Mackenzie. That was Janelle Denison’s contribution to I Love Bad Boys. Guess again! 
Like your insights on this show. I agree about Laird, he seemed to make the show too much like a PBS documentary. I liked the added mini-show at the end, but you are right that the production really lacked, just the the whole show. Maybe next year, they will put more money into the production and not so much into the prize at the end.
Can’t wait for the new season of the Amazing Race.

Travis - I agree. It was wild to think they blew that much moola on a prize for a show that had no track record. At the very least, they should have played up the size of the prize WAY more during the course of the show, just for marketing value. Maybe more folks would have tuned in. And the tension could have been much better edited if viewers (and racers) had known exactly the kind of whopping sum they were racing for.

I kept thinking I stayed up for this. I was glad that the geniuses won but it was pretty much ho hum show. Now Jeff Probst would have grilled that crying girl. LOL
I agree that the show was pretty much ho-hum. I watched it if I happened to surf pass it. But, I never actually searched it out or made it a point to change the channel. I think the premise of the show was good, the execution… well, not so much.
It’d be interesting to see if it does come back for another season… and hopefully they will take a look at some of the other reality shows and figure out where they went wrong.
The Finale was so stupid!!! The show should have ended the week before when the adrenaline was more there and I gave a damn. I did guess the amount right at least. It’s pretty sweet that they each get a million, I always wonder after taxes how much they actually get though? Like you said I hope Amazing Race took some notes and will implement the only good thing from the show, the clues.
