Jake chooses and gets chosen!

So, last night on the Bachelor finale, for anyone who has internet access, was probably not a huge surprise. Jake chooses Vienna. And while I know Tenley seems like such a doll and a true sweetheart, you could tell, watching them together, that Jake wasn’t himself with her. He was right in telling her he’d put her on a pedestal and that she was perfect “on paper” but that “thing” you gotta have…he didn’t have. You knew he wanted to, because she was the It Girl, no doubt. But there was this disconnect at the core of it.

Most telling was the boat trip on their last date - even before he tried to awkwardly tell her that things weren’t where they needed to be…my feeling was that after his time with Vienna the day before, he actually felt like he wasn’t being faithful by being with Tenley. He was really uncomfortable. I knew then his decision had been made.

I felt badly how things went initially for Vienna with Jake’s family and I know how badly he felt for kicking things off with her as he did. But, you know, while I agree that she’s definitely not as mature as some of the other women, after awhile, the piling on has really become just as immature. Lighten up with the poor girl and let her have a chance. Sheesh. Given the enormity of all she’s had to handle since the show has started, I actually think she’s handled things pretty darn well. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be in that kind of situation. And as Jake said, several times, all that matters is that they feel they have it right. And other than being a bit young in dealing with a roomful of catty women, I never saw Vienna as the villain, especially compared to the Loathed Ones of season’s past. There were a few of them in the house this season, too….but the villain wasn’t Vienna.

In fact…the biggest one of all, very annoyingly…is the next Bachelorette. Yeesh! I’m guessing Tenley turned them down, and frankly, just as well. She’s not comfortable enough in her own skin and too conservative in all ways, I think, to handle that kind of “journey.” Gia, on the other hand, might have been fun. But….no. We get Ali.

Yippee.

So, back to not watching for me. It was interesting taking a peek this season, but I think I’ll duck out now. In the meantime, we have Dancing With the Stars heading our way in a few weeks! Once again, an interesting line up. And once again, I have no clue who I will like, root for, or cringe over. Seems like a crazy mix as usual. It will be interesting to see who rises to the top, who becomes a viewer fave, and who we will want to see off the dance floor as soon as possible.

Surprising (to me) Jake is one of the DWTS contestants, which is kinda wild, but might be fun to watch his dorkiness try and dance. I hope that deflects the heat from Vienna and allows her to just root for him and sit on the sidelines for awhile. I like that she’s moving to Dallas and I do hope things work out for them. Will be interesting with him remaining in the spotlight, how that works out.

Other celebs this season on DWTS… Pamela Anderson, Pussycat Doll Nicole Sherzinger, soap stud Alden “eye candy” Turner, Kate (shudder) Gosselin, Shannon Doherty (who could luck out w. Kate being on the show and not be the most hated woman in the room), NFL player Chad Ochocinco, gold medal winner Evan Lysacek (I love this choice!), Reno 911’s Niecy Nash (never watched it, so have no clue who she is), ESPN’s Erin Andrews, and Buzz Aldrin (cool choice…but he’s 80! Don’t go hurtin’ the Moon Man!)

Don’t forget to enter this week’s Free Stuff Friday contest. See Monday’s post for the deets. And tonight they sing again on Idol. I hope we are all more impressed. Right this very second…it’s time to DISH! Are you over the Bachelor? What’s your early take on DWTS lineup? Are we caring about Idols singing?

  1. I might be misremembering this, but when Jake was on the show the first time, didn’t he tell the Bachelorette (who was it, Jillian?? I’ve already forgotten!) he’d been on the wrong end of women thinking he was too perfect? And there he was, telling Tenley the same thing. Too bad he didn’t resolve his own issues with not being able to “be himself” when he’s with a woman he deems “perfect.” Because, sadly, I think he let the better match get away. Not that I’m anti-Vienna, but I think the girl could use some better people skills. More importantly, Jake went with the ol’ libido instead of his head/heart. We all know where that’ll take him!

As for the new Bachelorette, gag. I’m with you. I just KNEW when they allowed Ali to plead her case, she was in the running to be next. And, sure, I get the reasons behind it– Tenley’s too vanilla; Ali will add some color. But, yuck.

Will I still be watching? Uh, yeah. Duh.

  2. I was hoping he would pick Tenley, but if the spark isn’t there for him, what can you do? I hope she gets her HEA ending soon.

I do think that the editing of the show purposely showed the worst of Vienna. Jake evidently saw something else in her, and I hope he made a good choice. It is funny to read online comments about Jake and Vienna. Some people are up in arms about it. When it comes down to it, though, what is just a TV show for us is real life for them. I hope that Jake is really getting the HEA that he has been searching for.

I am looking forward to watching the wedding of Jason and Molly. It is great that the show worked for them, and that all 3 of the final players are happy and in love.

I am also looking forward to DWTS! Evan Lysacek is a great choice. I am not sure how Pamela Anderson is going to do the close ballroom dance steps with those big you-know-whats! I am also curious to see how Jake does.

  3. Personally, I have to root for my soap man, Aiden Turner.!!! Also, like Evan. None of the women are interesting.
