Morning MAC…

Before we get started, just wanted to let you all know I’m the guest blogger today at the Brava Authors site. Check it out! Brava Blog

Okay, results show night….who’s goin’ home?

Dancing with the Stars - Live! begins and Samantha is very Audrey Hepburn, except, you know, as a jock. She’s very pretty, very talented, I just don’t get her on a dancing show. Please, ESPN, hire her already! Tom, on the other hand, pure love, baby. He makes what he does look sooo easy and it’s soooo not. Funny, funny, man.

We get a rundown of all the rule breakers, then Uncle Lenny tells us What The Bad Things Are we should look out for. Vivica and Nick get the encore dance. And we find out to the surprise of absolutely no one, that Arsenio Hall was Mystery Dance Man last week.

And Tom tells us we’re in for a surprising elimination. Which still makes me think it’s Willa and Maks. Even though they’ve been in the bottom the past two weeks, they’re good dancers, certainly better than some others. So why this is going to be surprising, I don’t know. Unless……ooooh, maybe it really will be a shocker.

First, we get a performance by the Scissor Sisters. (Who are those people? Have I been off planet or something? Or, more likely, have they?) And, who cares really, because we have a seriously hot Jesse and Cheryl dancing. Yowza.

We get disgruntled fans dishing on the cheating scandal. Yeah, it’s not all that raucous. Then we find out the first of the three couples who are safe tonight is — Wow! YAY! Willa and Maks! I get to keep my Eye Candy, woot! Thank you, America! (And they are so happy - a smiling Maks is an even sexier Maks. So, thank you for that, too.)

And, clearly, I have NO idea what America is thinking since I am not zero for 7 over the past two weeks of guessing bottom threes. If Jerry and Harry aren’t in the bottom three tonight, I’ll be 0 for 9 and might as well just stop with the predictions already. Unless, of course, you want to know who will be absolutely safe - which is apparently anyone I think is going home.

The other two safe couples? Sara and Tony and Monique and Louis! and so no surprises there.

Next we find out one of next week’s dances is the paso doble and to show us how it’s done, they enlist new hotshot tenor, Vittorio, along with a full choir and 8 of the dancing pros. Yum, more EC for Me!

So…it’s a powerful song, and a powerful dance arrangement, except the cameraman stays like blimp-distance view until well into the song. Come on, all that hotness? We need close ups! Louis! and Karina were by far the sharpest couple, though Edyta and Maks were great - just not dancing with each other. Otherwise, it was hot and flawed, but hot all the same. The ending was really great. Way to go, Louis!

We get an update on Tysonia, who will waltz in front of her co-workers this week. She’s putting in the time, y’all - and it’s paying off. Great job, Ty!

Now another Scissor Sisters song. Then commentary from the judges on what makes a good routine and how they score contestants.

Aaaaand, the other two safe couples are…Vivica and Nick and Joey and Edyta. Whew! We’re keepin’ the eye candy so far, folks.

So, who is safe, who is in the bottom two. Mario and Karina are safe. Jerry and Kym are in the bottom two. Emmitt and Cheryl are safe, leaving Ashly and Harry as the other bottom two couple. (Okay, I finally nailed two - but, other than that, what is the big surprise here?) Hmmm….

Who is going home? It is Harry and Ashly. I feel almost worse for Ashly, who is taking it hard, poor thing. She hasn’t gotten so lucky in her partnerships and she’s so plucky! At least this season she had someone who did give it his all. I hope she comes back next time.

So…not all that surprising this week. Very glad Willa and Maks got to stick around. I predict Jerry is next out the door, and that seems right to me. After that, things are gonna get interesting. We’ll see if people will vote for Willa just so they can see the showmance between her and Maks evolve. (I know I would. :) ) And will they all start playing by the rules? It’s going to be a fun ride!

Tomorrow we have some Survivor MAC and, if I’m really on the ball, some Project Runway juice, too. (It if wasn’t for the double blog today, I’d have added it here.) AND! Yes, it’s true, I’ve become a Grey’s Anatomy junkie. My enabler, my pusher, coworker, Leah, is to blame. She gave me the DVD’s to the first two seasons. I’m already half way through season two and can’t wait to catch up to this season. Squee! I finally get the whole McDreamy thing. Because, yeah, he kinda is.

I watched the behind-the-scenes, too, and I loved that the creator of this series, Shonda Rhimes, created the show to please herself. She created characters she wanted to know more about, that she wanted to hang out with every week. Shonda could easily be a romance author, but I’m really glad she stuck to teleplays. I’m really liking getting to know her people.

Don’t forget, last day to enter this week’s SHaQ Attack contest. See Monday’s blog for details. Hope to see you over at Brava Authors, too! :)

  1. Yeah, Arsenio was no surprise. And I think it was time for Harry, although he did do better this time. I’m glad we have Jerry for one more week - I wanted him to learn his waltz.

  2. Woot! So glad we have another Grey’s addict. Welcome aboard!

The only surprise of the evening for me was that Willa and Maks were not in the bottom two this week. Not that I mind another week of guaranteed EC. ;)
I really felt it would be Harry leaving, as predicted on Thursday am, but I am disappointed just the same. I wanted to see just how much he could really loosen up. With Jerry, I think we’ve seen all we are going to see there. Harry had potential. :(

  3. I agree on Jerry sticking around for the waltz. Very nice moment for him…but then he should go. Heck, he wants to go. This is physically hard for him.

As for Harry, he was my choice this week, too. Yes, he had potential, but as he said, he’s 54 (shocking!) and isn’t likely to suddenly loosen up. It’s funny though, in all the years I’ve seen him acting, he never struck me as uptight guy. Ever. I think he’s just super self conscious. I know his wife was thrilled with is progress and just happy he gave it a shot. I just hope he’s not too hard on himself for not doing better. Looking at him on the show, he strikes me as the type who might be.

And yes, I still have half of season 2 to watch, but I am taping season three. Hopefully by next week I’ll have caught up. I am a wimp on medical stuff, so like when I used to watch CSI (before it got too gory) I have to hold my hand up to block the surgery parts. Ew. But I love the interpersonal parts. And I won’t be following Desperate Housewives this season. I barely hung on last season and the opener this year…well,it just jumped the shark for me. And god forbid I be down one show, so I’ll just plug this one into its place.

Anyone going to watch Ugly Betty tonight?

  4. Grey’s repeated on Fridays at 8 so I’ll still watch CSI on Thursdays.

  5. Donna, what part of DH was the defining JTS moment for you? Since Season Two DH has been one show I don’t care if I miss or not….

I plan on catching Ugly Betty, though!

  6. I got to watch the results show today. Poor ashley. Hopefully next year she can go far. But I did think it was Harry’s time to go.

I didn’t get the band they had this week

  7. It was kinda touching how emotional Ashly got at the end of the show. And if there is a 4th season and Ashly comes back, I hope the powers-that-be give her a real promising celeb to dance with.

And no, Donna, you aren’t the only one who had never heard of the Scissor Sisters. Although, I think that they are also playing on one of the late night talk shows this week too. No accounting for taste…

  8. Angie - it was when I watched the opener and realized I wasn’t up for the weirdness that was Orson, and I definitely was not in the mood for the mother of Tom’s love child. None of the story lines, except perhaps Susan’s, was calling to me. Too much quirk, too much angst, and not enough pay off or positive or fun. The balance seemed all off to me. So I’m bailing. Men in Trees is more the kind of quirk I’m enjoying this go around.

  9. I’ve never heard of that group and my ears wish that I never heard them too!
I think Jerry should have gone in week two before Shana. I think it was a sympathy vote to keep him for the Waltz. He can learn the Waltz like all the other people by a dance instructor or I’m sure Kim would have taught him no matter what.
WTG Louis he is such a good choreographer.
