Amazing….

So, my son and I got around to watching Amazing Race last night and, lo and behold, for the most part, everyone behaved. I think what I am loving about this season most of all, is the return to the raaaaaaace. Harder tasks, no money for a leg, raaaaaaace.

I like that there is rarely bunching, and when there is, things still stay unpredictable. I love different teams coming in first, I love that during the course of each leg, the leaders and the stragglers change ends, sometimes more than once. That’s good race planning. Far better than when the same team, or few teams, dominate the entire series.

Things I liked this time: the coalminer working with fuel/coal, the *lyns finally showing some heart, the *wins finally coming in first (and how they paused to reflect on and pay homage to the history of the Hanoi Hilton), chaos flower market, how hard it was to find almost, well, everything, sending the teams east instead of west to start this race off, no money this leg, Frogger shout out…

Things I didn’t like: Mary needs to lighten up on her husband. I love them, but man, she gets a big grating. Mostly what I hate is how little Peter really cares for Sarah, even as just a fellow human being. She’s like his pet or something. He’s always - always - running way ahead of her. He’s like two feet taller than her anyway. Even with two good legs, she’d be running to keep up with him. But on the rice paddies running for the mat, and her artificial limb is sinking in the muck, he’s not even aware she’s back there struggling. Yes, all teams struggled in the muck, but they were the only team who weren’t holding on to each other, helping each other navigate that quagmire. My disgust for him grows. Even if he’s not “into her” and trust me, he’s way not, he could at least be a decent human being and partner. My only question is how she’s put up with him for seven years, even as a friend. Yes, he can fix your leg and you think because he builds them, he understands you better than anyone. So not true. Look beyond the obvious connection and see there is absolutely no real connection there…then go find a nice guy who’ll love, admire, and respect you for who you are, artificial limb and all. But mostly I hated seeing Lauren and Pops go and TnT stay. Good team, pretty good racers, but stuff happens.

And Phil? Keep up the good wardrobe choices. That’s all I’m sayin. :)

  1. I am absolutely loving the Amazing Race! The previews for this coming Sunday’s show looks as though there are going to be as couple of meltdowns.

  2. I was sad to see the Dad & Daughter go too. I hope they keep bonding and grow with the experience so there relatioship can be strengthened out of it.I’m not sure how I would handle it if my daughter was a lesbian.I know my love for her wouldn’t diminish though. I missed half the show, boohoo. I know last week Sarah said she was taking notes on how Peter was acting,so hopefully her mind notebook will be full of Peter’s bad behavior and disregard. He says come on Sarah, come on you can do it constantly. Well sure she can but it doesn’t make her a loser or dependant if she gets a little hand here and there just like everyone else!!! He sooooo bothers me.

  3. He just has no regard for her as a woman or as a person. It’s freakish. She’s just this…thing. I wonder how he is socially with other people he knows.

  4. Thank you, I could not have sead it better my self.

  5. thanks for the update my vcr had a mind of its own sunday so I didn’t get to record it.

Sorry to hear who left. I liked them

  6. I agree about Peter. He’s really becoming a cringe factor. Sad to see the dad/daughter go, if only they wouldn’t have picked up the woman at the airport. This really is one of the better seasons of the show (makes up for the horrors that was the family season in my mind *g*)
