I don’t ask for much…

…but apparently asking for new programming at this time of year is asking for too much. What is up with that?

We do have some fun new ventures to anticipate in January (if it ever gets here) but, in the mean time, I did catch a few movies (The Holiday, Step Up, Mrs. Henderson Presents), caught up on my TiFauxed Las Vegas episodes (why, why didn’t I know that Delinda’s Box was a two hour special?) and even managed to read a book or three (Book of Fate by Brad Meltzer, It’s a Wonderfully Sexy Life by Hope Tarr, You Don’t Know Jack by Erin McCarthy, and British Bad Boys by Nancy Warren) but mostly I’m in reality withdrawal. Movies and books are great, as is, you know, having a life, but it’s like the planet isn’t quite in balance without one good reality segment a week to MAC about. And, insult to injury, no new Grey’s, Men in Trees, Las Vegas, or Boston Legal until sometime in January, either. I ask you, what are these people doing? We have to work. Why don’t they? It just seems…wrong, somehow.

I did stumble across a reality series on WE network called Dirty Dancing. At best it’s insomnia filler for the 2am sleepless crowd (waving hand!!) but it was mildly diverting anyway. Not really MAC-worthy though. Neither was the week-long game show Identity, though the premise was interesting. I may be forced to tape the marathon of Top Chef today as filler for the rest of the week. Everyone tells me that my Project Runway adoring heart would love this show, but, as I’ve never gotten into cooking shows of any kind (which, considering my love of all things caloric is admittedly unusual) who knows if it will stick.

So…what got you through the holiday slump? Any fun books? Exciting movies? Interesting new finds?

I hope your holidays were otherwise filled with family, fun, and a healthy helping (or three…) of pumpkin pie. It’s good to be back! (Now, when do those awful American Idol audition shows start? This is how desperate I am. I hate those preliminary freak shows. But at the moment? Yeah. Pass the ice cream. And the pie. Let the off key shrieking begin!)

  1. I’m so glad I am not the only one going through withdrawal!

As for reading, I received two books in the mail on the 23rd. They were written by a wonderfully talented author! :)

  2. That Santa, what a guy, huh? :)

    Hope you enjoy them!

  3. I’m going thru MAC withdrawls too.

I’m a fan of Top Chef. I stumbled across it one day and was hooked. Of course, I like cooking shows (Iron Chef America being another fav)… but would never in a million years try 99% of the things they make!

As for getting thru the holidays… mostly work. Deadlines get me all the time. I didn’t get any books under the tree this year, but I did spend some money on ebooks… and hit the bookstore yesterday and picked up 2. Now to find time to read…

  4. Donna, I’m in the middle of reading your book Bad Boys in Kilts. I finished Brodie and Kat’s story recently and am currently reading about Reese and Daisy. Thanks again for sending it so quickly. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far. :)

  5. I’m reading an arc of Hell’s Belles by Jackie Kessler, halfway through and really liking it. Good if you like a darker sexy paranormal with humor.

Missing MIT and LV at the moment. Identity wasn’t bad, but the host annoyed me. Have you seen 1 vs 100, its not bad but I haven’t seen it on lately

  6. January 8th - isn’t that when the new Apprentice starts? I’m ready for this one, I heard on some teaser somewhere the winners of a challenge stay in a mansion and the losers - a tent? It’s based in LA this go around, could be interesting.

Also a very big THANK YOU again for starting my New Year off with a bang with my blog prizes. Now if all my Amazon packages would arrive with all my other new books.

Note to self in the same vane as Martin Brodie in Jaws “I think I need a bigger book case”.

  7. I had a great holiday and now am watching DVDs because of the lack of TV shows.
