Happy Hump Day!

I’m staring down deadlines again, on both work fronts. So, for your enjoyment, and because I’m too brain dead to come up with anything scintillating to say here, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at what landed in my inbox this week… It’s the back cover copy for the second Black Sheep book…The Black Sheep & The Hidden Beauty. (Available Jan/08)

They’re back—the boys your mother warned you about, the black sheep her mother warned her about—the bad boys every good girl needs oh so badly…

Raphael “Rafe” Santiago may have left the streets years ago, but the street has never left him. A rough childhood in the Bronx taught him never to let his guard down, to keep everything in order, and always to trust that little voice in his gut that tells him when someone’s got something to hide. Horse trainer Elena Caulfield, is definitely hiding something, and Rafe intends to find out what it is and take care of it—his way.

But his way wasn’t supposed to include feeling an intense attraction to the tomboyish Elena. With her mud-caked boots, quiet strength, and gentle manner, she’s nothing like the flashy, seductive, overtly feminine women Rafe usually beds. The closer he gets to her, the harder it is to control that fiery passion he’s worked hard to keep cooled, the kind that can catch a man off guard and leave him open to danger—because whatever secret Elena’s protecting, it’s big…and worth killing for. Because when you’re from the Bronx, you take care of what you love—or die trying…

  1. Oooh this sounds so good! I’m looking forward to reading more about Rafe & Elena, but Jan/08?! That is a lot of waiting, hopefully you will post an excerpt at some point before then. Please!!! :)

    Good luck with your deadlines.

  2. Hi Susan - well, there are two other books out first. The Great Scot (Feb 27), then the first Black Sheep (August), and then this one. The back cover copy for Great Scot and The Black Sheep & The Princess are in the reader letter on my home page right now (if you haven’t gotten a peek already.)

They do the marketing really far in advance (as you can tell) but I thought you all would get a kick out of being the first to get a glimpse.

I’ve posted an excerpt of Great Scot (which is in my home page reader letter right now, if you missed it.) And will post one for the first Black Sheep book, and the second one, at some point as well.

Now I’m excited to see what they do for the cover of this one! I’ll be sure to share when that day comes. :)

  3. Very cool!

  4. Oh this sounds great!! Looking forward to picking up the first book soon

  5. Love the cover and excerpt for The Great Scot. Totally fell in lust with the Chisholm brothers, and can’t wait to read Dylan’s story.

  6. Just finished The Great Scott a few mins ago. Really enjoyed it. Took me just a little over a day to read.
I was lucky enuf to win a copy from you awhile back. Thanks again, Donna. Love those brother books.

Looking forward to the Black Sheep, love the cover and will enjoy the series since the heroes are All from NY??? At least one is from your blog.

  7. Hey Pat - glad you enjoyed Great Scot! I had such fun writing about the folks in Glenbuie. I miss it. As for my Black Sheep - the first two are from NY - Mac from upstate and Rafe from the Bronx. Finn (who will be in the third book) is from horse country in Virginia. The first book opens in Red Hook, but is set mostly in the Catskills, the second in Middleburg and Charlottesville, Virginia. The third one will move around a bit…who knows where Finn will take me!

  8. I’m really looking forward to The Great Scot, and the Black Sheep books sound divine. I’ve read the excerpts for the first black sheep, but Rafe sounds like quite the character - cannot wait to read his story. Thanks for posting, and giving us insights into some of the plot/background :)

  9. Love the copy for the 2nd Black Sheep book. I can’t wait for The Great Scot to come out next month. It’s definitely on my “must buy” list.
