American Idol is back. Only better. It is, too!
Okay, so the water cooler talk this morning is going to be all about Stephen, J Lo, and, maybe even Randy. Okay, maybe it’s just MY water cooler. But this is MY blog. And THIS? Is American Idol: the morning after.
So….the thing is, I love Stephen Tyler. Have loved Aerosmith since I was far younger than I want to admit, because that makes me almost as old as Stephen Tyler. And not as tan. Or as highlighted.
I have no idea what the general consensus will be today about the “new” Idol, but ask me? About. Time. I thought there was an undeniable “star power” vibe to the panel, Randy came into his own when paired with actual, you know, musicians, and they seemed far more a collaborative panel than a series of disjointed reactions, couched in something mean delivered in a British accent. And I often agreed with Simon. Maybe not the delivery or choice of words, but the general sentiment. Did I miss him last night?
Simon who?
Yeah. No. I thought it was more fun, more interesting, and Stephen Tyler is hilarious, J Lo too tenderhearted, and Randy the voice of reason. Dawg.
Yeah. I loved it. Fun. There’s a concept. Not brutal, not humiliating, not cringe inducing (I’m talking about the panel, not the “singers.”)
So, I’m on board for the season. Morning After Commentary? Starts Now.
Are you with me??
And, speaking of which, have you entered this week’s contests? Yep, plural. There are two. The one here, to win a free book from my website bookshelf, ends tomorrow, so hurry up and get your entry in. Scroll down to Monday’s blog for the details. Over on my Cupcake Adventures in Baking Blog at Cakes By The Cup Blog, I’m giving away a copy of Martha Stewart’s Cupcakes to a lucky commenter to this week’s posted adventure. Winner announced when next week’s adventure is posted on Tuesday. But you’re all in the entering mode anyway, so why not go over there and take care of it now? Who knows, you could be a Double Winner and be all reading AND baking!
Then pop back over here and DISH! What did you think of the show? Which singers did you like? I liked the twin kid, the kid who thought it was his destiny since he was seven, and yes, the uber sweet “yo yo dawg” southern belle. Just because she was so surrealistically earnest. You?

I loved the new judges and the set up of American Idol last night. I enjoyed the way the judges worked with each other. Stephen Tyler was hilarious. I was almost ready to jump off the American Idol bandwagon but now I am excited to see how things go.
