Have I mentioned it’s Tundra Time here? And, btw, no National Guard guys showed up when I got stuck today, shirtless or otherwise. You guys are slacking off on me now.
So, American Idol finally gets interesting. It’s Hot Seat Night when they bring the final 40 one by one, make them sit in the Sorting Chair, and tell them if they’ve made it or not. (I recognized maybe half of these people from the auditions. Sad, really.)
Making it is…Sunjaya (who was a little too Michael Jackson shy for me), back up singer Melinda Doolittle (yay!), backup singer #2 Brandon Rogers (yay squared!), pink streak Gina Glocksen, Haley Scarnato, Phil (baby daddy) Stacy, Blake “beat box” Lewis (yay3) Chris “Jack Osborne” Sligh (woot!), second chance Rudy Cardena, (I’m officially loving this group so far - but what about the girls?), Paul Kim (love a Korean pop singer, but the barefoot thing? Please.), 17 yr old Jordin Sparks, 5 time auditioner AJ Tabaldo, Stephanie Edwards, Leslie Hunt (? Wasn’t too keen on her), second chance Nick Pedro, Alaina Alexander (another wuh, really?), Chris “Timberlake” Richardson, Sabrina Sloan, Lakisha Jones (love her), Nicole Tranquillo, Jared Cotter, Amy Krebs (like her), Antonella (should have been Marissa y’all), Sundance Head (should have been Tommy - and I like Sundance. But that bodyguard comment? No class, there, Sundance, no class. He’s a great singer, too. Not looking to be your damn bodyguard. Love is dwindling fast for Sundance.)
Not making it…Ridiculously Tall Anna, Bernard, Eric, pierced lip Tammy, Jimmy (braids) MacNeal (rats!), Errick Johnson, Thomas Lowe (who had been reputed to be a Simon Pick, so quel shock!), Olivia, Tatiana, Monique (none of whom I remember), Jerome Chism, Joelle James, Matthew Buckstein, Princess Johnson, Marissa (grrrr), Tommy (grrr.)
All in all, a very strong field of guys this season. Not as wowed by the girls, but they’re an interesting lot as well. Shaping up to be a great season. I’m just glad to finally have an idea of who all the contestants are. Wonder who will make the final twelve??

I was disappointed that Jimmy MacNeal didn’t make it and I agree about Sundance. I really like Sligh, but I wonder how they would market him. And I like Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones.
I attempted to get the shirtless National Guard guys down to you, but they got stuck on Interstate 81 here in PA for the past 17 hours! Do I at least get points for trying?
It does look like they have a strong group of guys, the girls I’m not so sure about. Marissa should have made it through!

Will be interesting to see what they do with the line-up this season for AI.

Eve - I agree about MacNeal and yeah, way too much TMI on the barefoot Kim.
I think they have a nice pool to draw from for a good season, though. I’m looking forward to next week!
