Monday, Monday….

I hope everyone had a delightful weekend. The rain has stopped here, and the sun is out…and it’s not eleventy-billion degree humidity for a change! I was thinking about changing my address to Surface of the Sun, Virginia. Thank goodness I won’t have the added expense of getting all those new address labels printed up…. Now, if only fall would get here!

Sure, sure, I’m looking forward to hiking all my regular trails and watching the leaves change….and yes, I can’t wait to smell that crisp fall air, feel that cool fall breeze on my face. But mostly I want it to be fall because I want my tv shows back, dangit! I know, priorities, right? So glad I have mine in check.

They are starting up with all the sneak peek promos and telling us how in just a few weeks, all our favorite characters will return with new and daring adventures. It’s like being five years old and having mom tell you that Christmas will be here before I know it. It was NEVER here before I knew it. It took FOREVER for Santa to show up. And that’s how I feel now.

So…what are the shows you’re waiting on most? For me…Castle, Good Wife, Grey’s, Big Bang Theory…and the reality staples of Amazing Race, Survivor, and Dancing with the Stars. (Please, let them get actual stars I’ve heard of before this time!) And then there’s all those new shows they’re taunting us with! I want to see The New Girl, Person of Interest, Once Upon a Time (because…duh!), amongst others. What new shows have you programmed into the DVR?

Well, in doing my part to help this Last Days of Summer business get itself over with more quickly, I’ll distract you with this week’s Free Stuff Friday contest! To enter, just send an email to donna@donnakauffman.com with “Summer, schlummer, send me a book!” in the subject line. Winner gets a book from my website bookshelf. And, if you want to double your chances, head on over to my Cakes by the Cup blog and enter there as well! Winner announced here on Friday, and over there on Thursday. I know, I give and I give. I’m a giver!

So, get those entries in, then pop back over here and DISH!! What’s on your Fall DVR?, Blog Babes??

  1. Can’t wait for Castle, CSI (wanna see how Ted Dansen does), DWTS, American Idol, X-Factor, Who Do You Think You Are, The Keno twins new show(yeah, I’m an Antique Roadshow junkie). But for me … NFL is starting!!!! Will have to sit down & start paying attention to the new shows .. maybe Once Upon a Time, Person of Interest, that new one with Poppy Montgomery where she remembers everything (hey, it’s morning, you think of these names lol).

  2. I actually haven’t watched much shows this summer due to my life being so Crazy but I am looking forward to The Amazing Race.

Looking forward to the new book coming out! EXCITED! :)

Have fun and talk to you soon!

  3. I’m really looking forward to The New Girl with Zooey Deschanel, too! I wasn’t sure a few months ago when the short promos started but now that I’ve seen some of the longer promos, more than just the one-liners, it’s going to be an average sitcom with outstanding actors. I hope they have good writing as that’ll raise it from average sitcom to keeper.

I’m also hoping Persons Unknown comes back as I was just starting to get interested in it. I’m not so much interested in Persons of Interest ironically.

I’m definitely looking forward to Season 2 of The Event. It started out too melodramatic and faked cloak-and-dagger PC correctness a-kissing for me but as it developed over the first season, the writing improved, a rarity in TV script writing. By the end of the first season, the SF-ness of it had come out, too, and since I’m a scifi fan in an age when TV no longer has much scifi on it (only horror and fantasy and beasties of the night), I’m pretty excited to see where The Event goes.

Also on the SciFi banner is FOX’s cult hit, Fringe which I didn’t watch for the first 2 seasons but watched last year and actually had to go out and buy the disks for all 3 seasons because it’s a show you have to watch more than once–and in sequence–or you can’t follow it.

Fringe sort of reminds me of the FX Networks mega-hit Damages which sadly got moved off broadcast TV and now I can’t watch it at all. And it’s not even available to Netflix! *pout* Damages stars Glenn Close doing remarkably more complex acting every season–I never liked her so much before but wow she’s phenomenal in this series; they must be giving her freedom to do her magic.

My MAIN fall addiction, however, is DEXTER I actually pay $5/mo for Showtime all year round and the one and ONLY thing I watch on that station is this show. That works out to $5 per episode since there are usually 12 per season and only one season per year. It’s sooooo worth it. The writing on Dexter is just….mind-blowing.

As always, TV is really all about the story, isn’t it? :)

  4. I forgot to add NCIS! My older son got me hooked on it near the end of last season and I’v spent a summer watching a bazillion reruns to catch up to the overall storyline, so I’m excited to see new adventures with these characters. And, seriously…am I the only one who thinks Mark Harmon will still look drop dead sexy at 90? He ages so gorgeously!

  5. And thanks, Vanetta! I am anxious to finally get my hands on those books, too!! Not too much longer. I already know my whole Sugarberry Island family SO well by now, I can’t wait to share them all with you so we can start dishing about them!

  6. I am waiting on Castle, Hawaii 5-O, The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, DWTS, American Idol, NCIS, CSI, Maimi and NY and NCIS: LA.. I am also waiting for SImon Cowels new shoe X-Facter.. Although not Paula Abdul. When I saw the advert, she was practially sitting on his lap.. i have not seen a lot of the new shows coming out..But what I have seen, I think I will be giving a few a miss..

And BIG BANG, has got to be the best laugh fest on TV.. I just saw the repeat openning of Season 4 last night and It had me laughing just as hard.. It is the one wear Howard constructs a robot arm and uses it for..”you know what” and it get stuck and Leonard and Raj, have to take him to the hospital… I nearly peed my pants..
it is going to be a good season…

  7. whoops that have been Simon Cowells new “show” not shoe.. you think I was Ed Sullivan..lol

  8. Ha! Ed Sullivan, I remember watching his “Rilly Big Shoe” when I was little.

And I can’t believe I forgot Hawaii 5-0 and Blue Bloods! Wow, I watch more stuff than even I thought. But hey, as anyone who knows me knows…I don’t sleep much. So it’s good to have a DVR full of goods. Then I can finally unwind between midnight and 2am…so I can get up at 6 and start all over again. :)

  9. I’m looking forward to Grimm and Ringer(Sarah Michelle Gellar).
