Check out all the tear soaked dish over at my monster USA Today Kleenex-filled recap. Then head back over to hear to find out What’s Happening NOW! Also? Who is the next bachelor??
So much left to discuss!
We’re back in LiveAudienceVille for good! Host Chris is thrilled that the world was kept wondering right up until the Last Possible Second. Even the infamous spoilers who stuck by Brooks being The One until the bitter end apparently got it All Wrong. Score one for ABC! And? Des! Come on down!! She’s wearing her sparkly, so the engagement, it continues!
She talks about going through the heartbreak of Brooks and how it allowed her the clarity to see what might be more real and solid beyond that. She also never put pressure on herself to end up engaged, so if it wasn’t there with chris, then it wasn’t gong to be at all. But she truly felt it was, so she went for it.
Host Chris asks how it felt watching it back and did she see the red flags then. And she makes a good point. She said that she took his ambivalence as being about the process, about dating the same girl that many other guys are dating, that she didn’t take it as being ambivalence about her personally. And she acknowledge that that as her biggest mistake. And you know? That’s fair and honest, and not at all hard to believe. She also said that she felt that it was all good and well up to the hometown dates, but if that wasn’t reassuring enough, then that was where she would start to wonder in earnest if he was going to make the transition to letting his guard down. But she felt home towns went particularly well in his case, so if anything, her guard was further lowered. So…yeah. I get all of that. Well said.
Host Chris lets us know that Brooks is there, that he’s been back stage and didn’t see how it all unfolded, so she doesn’t know how it played out. For her part, she says she’s not nervous and that’s a testament to where she truly is with Chris, and in a very good way. So good for you, Des! Brooks, on the other hand, is likely sweating major bullets, because while he doesn’t know she’s engaged, he does know what he world at large has been saying about him for a week so he has to deal with that. And to find out What Happened, after he left. I know he’ll be relieved that she’s happy, so all in all, it will be a good thing, but leading up to it, this part can’t be fun.
Brooks comes out looking all major GQ and they hug and it’s not weird. One hopes he immediately spied the Flintstone sized rock on her ring finger, and relaxed. But, if he did, it didn’t help. he’s nervous and talks about how watching it all back took him back to that place and made it impossible to avoid dealing with feelings that he might have otherwise, since then, kind of buried. Also fair, and pretty human. So not surprising, really. I’m not sure what eh thinks is going to happen, but hopefully someone will put him out of his misery sooner than later. He did nothing wrong and actually exactly what was right under the circumstances.
They do have a frank talk about the whole process and they’re honest and I think while we don’t learn anything new, it’s clear they’ve both assimilated it and come to peace with it. No regrets, better self understanding, and mutual wishes for the best. Host Chris asks Brooks if he knows how it turned out and he doesn’t. Des brightly says “well, after you left, it was really good!” then realizes that didn’t come out at all like she meant. Lots of nervous laughter, Chris offers to take the knife out of Brooks back, more laughter. But she clarifies that after him leaving, she was able to more clearly assess the other relationships and five them her full attention, and well, I’m engaged to Chris. Brooks is happy and not all that surprised by this. I felt he is sincere in saying he saw the ocnnection with them all along. So…good guy, nice ending.
Next on the Couch of No Regret? Drew! He comes out looking Exactly The Same. I’m pretty sure he looks exactly like that when he wakes up every morning. Clearly he’s emotional seeing her, so that’s both sad and somewhat heartening as well, in that I wanted to believe that his heartbreak was real and not just a build up of the fantasy he had in his head. Or worse, a more cynical thing. And it’s clearly neither of those things but a very real situation for him, one he’s still dealing with. And, well shoot. Come on over here for a big ol’ collective group hug from every living breathing woman in America!! Cutie patootie, I have zero doubt your future will be romantically bright. Solid guy. Although, for the last time…dude, MESS up that hair a little!! Just a little!
He asks her a few questions, and it’s clear he’s still somewhat uneven in that his heart not being fully back on track, but at the same time, he has the clarity of distance and time and his perspective is healthy, and clear headed. He’s a good guy. That said I wouldn’t be invested in seeing him as the next bachelor, a little too every-hair-in-place for me, but I hope in the privacy of his personal life, away from the glare, he does find the right one because he has a significant amount to offer. Solid guy, good guy.
We’re all done with the exes, it’s time for the happy couple to reunite on screen. And she lights up like Broadway when she sees him, and he takes her in a Drew-worthy wall kiss that makes the audience collectively swoon, so, um…yeah. That’s about as clear and solid a benediction as anyone could need on Where They Are Now. And I’m really happy for them. I think they sincerely want things to work, so hearty applause from the shallow end of the pool over here! (If not the audience, whose applause seems kind of polite. And I’m all…really? Even after seeing her with Brooks and realizing quite clearly that he made the right decision and so did she? Really?) I mean, I’m a surprised as you, but come on!) As for me?? You go, Bachelorette-No-More!
Okay, so while I’m thrilled for them and all, this joy does not extend to me enduring yet another poem from Chris. I’m happy they’ve gotten their own place in Seattle and she’s moving out there pronto. Who knows, they might actually go back to being Real, Ordinary People and focus on making this work! Hey, it could happen! But now that they are? Yeah, I’m out. All future poetry should be read off camera, dude.
Now…let’s get on to the Real Burning Question of the night. Not What Will Des Do, but….WHO is the Next Man To Lust Over? I’m secretly rooting for Juan Pablo. Okay, okay, so there’s nothing remotely secret about it. Is it, could it be….don’t tease me, show!
But before we get to that, I need to announce who won last week’s Book Swag Giveaway! Up for grabs was the newly released mass market version of Cupcake Club Book #1, SUGAR RUSH…or, alternate title of choice if that one already resided on your bookshelf. And the winner?? Come on down happening blog babe, Duffy G!!
Look for your signed copy of HERE COMES TROUBLE to land in your mailbox soon!
Okay, okay…so with that little bit of business over, who is it already??
Come on out…..WOOOOOOOOOT!! Man, when Chris said “funny” I had a mini heart attack that it would be Zak. And, dude, you’re a sweetie and all, but a bit too cuckoo for cocoa puffs for me, so bring on the Latin Lovah!! And yes, it’s Juan Pablo!! The crowd? Oh, they go full tilt ape bananas and I can identify.
So OH YEEEAAAH!!! I’ll be back in the shallow end of the hot tub, fruity umbrella drink in hand to bring you every tear, every heart throb, every cat claw when The (hot Latin Lovah) Bachelor premieres in the new year.
In the meantime, please hang out with me every week as I continue giving out the book swag and brining you all the reality dish, heading into the fall with Dancing With the Stars!! Premiering on ABC this September 16th!! Whew! Tango on the dance floor, followed by tango in the hot tub. Fan?? Does anybody have a fan???
