So, yeah. I really wasn’t planning on MAC’n Idol Gives Back, because only Oprah should bring the snark to people doing good deeds. And I’m not. Oprah, or MACing this show. See tomorrow for Mondo MAC, however. BUT! I would be remiss if I didn’t at least comment on The Best Opening Number Evah! Oh, I was in serious happy town for the opening five minutes. And, honestly? I wasn’t looking forward, really, to actually watching Telethon Idol. I made my call right when it came on and pledged because they aren’t kidding about every dollar helps someone and who can’t skip a Happy Meal or six and give a few bucks? (although, did I get David Cook on the phone? Nooooooooo. What’s up with that?)

Then I planned on mostly using the remote to speed watch. But no. With finger poised on the ff button, I freeze. Because they had to go an open with not one season, but ALL of the So You Think You Can Dance dancers from forever and back to the beginning. Hi Benji! Hi Benji’s sister Lacey! Hi Hok and his entire crew! Hi Travis! Hi Pasha! Hi Dmitry! Hi..everyone! Wow, that was like the best reunion ever. The only thing missing was Cat Deeley. I’m so glad I have it on TiVo so I can go back and rewatch until I can catch everybody who was in it. Truly a shiny, happy moment. And so now I’m watching. Box of Kleenex at my side. Thanks, Nigel.

All in all, a much better produced and run show this year. Great artists, more focused. I hope they raised a googilian dollars.
