Sing, Dance, Watch, Sleep

Idol….three left, three songs…not much going on with the whole hometown visit thing. Maybe they’ll show it on results night. Odd.

So…

Archie, trying to look all manly and still looking like a puppy (a very cute puppy, but still) sings an incredibly boring Joel song chosen by Paula, then his own choice, not kidding, singing My Boo (no, I’m seriously not kidding) and makes it sound very Up With People (he’s just not a kid who will ever be down with his bad self, sorry) and then, lastly….the producer choice of Longer by Fogelberg, which….lather, rinse, repeat.

Syesha looks glam smash wow in a gold sequin gown, sings Alicia Keys chosen by Randy and does it very well, then in a short spangly black dress does her own choice of Fever, which is right up her actressy alley, great last note, (and she might not have shown her contemporary recording chops, but Broadway producers, I’m telling you…call her,) and lastly, the producer pick for her is Hit Me Up which sounds Broadway popstar-ey. The reason she’s stage and not radio friendly is because her voice is not distinctive. If I played that for you and you didn’t know it was her? You’d never know it was her. Know what I mean?

Cook sings Roberta Flack’s If Ever I Saw Your Face chosen by Cowell, and honestly, even if he weren’t my favorite, that? Got me to actually vote. First time this season. I download, but voting? No. Can’t say that any longer. Then he chooses Switchfoot’s Dare You To Move for himself, played the guitar and sounded uber contemporary, not my fave though, very atonal version, and lastly, the producer chosen tune? I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing. And, yeah yeah yeah, I know, but for me? It’s the ew-iest song by Aerosmith. Producers choices, all told? Sucked. He changed it up a little, but what can you do with that? Not much. His first song was the song of the night, which isn’t saying as much as it should be.

I missed my delightfully dopey forest creature.

I don’t think anyone stepped forward. No one fell down, either. I think they each mostly just maintained. Going tomorrow, prolly Syesha, just because she won’t stand up to the David Duo.

Dancing….

Who makes the finals? First? Small children shouldn’t be able to move like that. It’s just not right. That paso was freaking insane. No way are those kids. Dang. In other news, I totally dug the choreography of the Thriller tribute…the singing? Not so much.

Okay, so now we get to The Moment. Who’s in? Who’s out? Okay, so when they did that part where they each talk about why the other one is in the finals and it’s all dark and intense? First time I was seriously WHOA about Jason. Because that? Was pure, fierce hotness right there. Dayum. I need a fan. And some ice. And whole lot more of that Jason. On my book covers. Where has that been? I was moved, y’all.

First one in the finals? Kristi & Mark. So not a shock there. And I think Marissa is out, only because it would have made much better drama to announce her first, if she was still in it. And, it’s the right move on the talent scale, but I find her more entertaining than Jason, even if she’s not as technically skilled. Except if Edtya can get him to look on the dancefloor like he did in that video clip…then I’m all for him staying. In fact, he can stay right here. With me. Alone.

Next couple in? Jason & Edyta. Okay, Edyta, don’t let me down! And last in the finals is Cheryl & Christian. Woot! Which means Marissa & Tony are out. And she certainly can’t be sorry for the great run she’s had. It’s made for a really entertaining season. I loved her comment about if they’re out, they’re totally in the audience watching the finals. Great job, Shortstack. You were an inspiration and a joy.

I’m very much looking forward to next week’s finals! I couldn’t really predict a winner. Kristi is the frontrunner, Jason is a hottie, and Christian is coming on all Latino heartthrobby at the right time. It’s anyone’s game. I think for the first time ever, I won’t be upset with any of them as a winner, as they’ve all performed up to that par. It’ll just be fun to watch! Can’t wait to see the free styles. Hope they get back up to former season’s glory after a disappointing round last year.

Who do you think will make the finals of Idol? Who will win DWTS? DISH already!!

  1. I love David Cook but I actually think he might have been sick last night, he didn’t sound like himself. They must be exhausted by now, too!

  2. I would really like Kristi to win. We need a woman winner…..

  3. David Cook’s version of If Ever I Saw Your Face was rockin’ hot! As for DWTS it would be nice to have Kristi win.

  4. I think David Cook is the best of the three. Although I really like the slower songs from David A, he just doesn’t seem to be able to mix it up.
Kristi is the most talented but she doesn’t pull me in emotionally. Christian is more exciting. Jason is good but his tallness seems to pull me away from the dance.

  5. I am rooting for Cristian, but think Kristy will win it. Jason has been looking pretty awkward lately. And Cristian is a real hottie and I love his accent.

  6. Thank you so much for the book, Donna. I just got it today. I can’t wait to watch Dancing with the Stars later this week. Sounds like it was a great episode. Thank you again!
