Thank you, thank you!
A BIG thank you to all of you who rushed out last week and picked up your copy of BAD BOYS IN KILTS - thanks to your ardent and much appreciated support, BBiK debuted on the BookScan Bestseller adult fiction list at #54!!! WOOT!
And hey, if you don’t have your copy yet, don’t despair. You’re more than welcome to see if you can help it stay on the list next week.
So, on with the Fun Friday Stuff - this week’s book giveaway winner is Muirshield (which is all I have to go on, sorry! No name or addy supplied.) I’m sure you’ll figure out who you are and let me know where to send your prize. Congrats, congrats!!
Tune in Monday to see what next week’s prize will be. And hey, since it’s my birthday next week, I think YOU should get the presents. So maybe we’ll have more than one winner. Party’s right here!
Currently reading: Dirty Blonde by Lisa Scottoline. Witty suspense writer. It’s a killer combination. Check her out!
What are you all currently reading??
Now…on with all the MAC that’s fit to print (and maybe some that’s not, but I’m not happy, so deal with it.)
Project Runway Finale….
Now, none of the lines wowed me, sure, although I will say that they looked a lot better on moving models than in the still pictures I sneaked a look at online. But I’m not a happy camper with the outcome. Yeah, yeah, I like Chloe just as much as the next person. But, you see, she has a store already. She’s in the business, albeit in Houston. (Nothing against Houston, y’all, but it’s not NYC, Paris, or Milan.) And her stuff was really….shiny. All of it. Daniel on the other hand, he’s young, new to the fashion scene, very diversified, (and impossibly adorable, not that I’m that shallow or anything)…and it just seemed to me that he’d be the perfect beneficiary of a year’s mentorship with Banana Republic’s design team. Call me crazy! Mostly I was just crazy happy Santino came in third. But still. Pout. Take the job with Kors, Dan!
Oooh, bonus feature…random American Idol MAC (yeah, yeah, I got sucked in. Sue me.) - I picked Kevin, Will, Melissa, and Kinnik to go home. Good thing I don’t gamble. 50% success rate? Not all that great.
I was glad Melissa stayed. She’s at least fun to watch, though she won’t be long for this contest, I fear. I wasn’t upset to see Ayla go, she wouldn’t have gone all the way either, and she has that basketball scholarship thing to fall back on. (Could she BE any taller?/Chandler voice) Surprised about Kevin staying. Adorable, sure. The next American Idol? No. But he’s entertaining anyway. Still, I was sad to see him stay over Gedeon.
Gedeon might have been an awkward kind of guy (mild understatement) but the kid could sang. Seriously. Best sing out ever. A shame he wasn’t more a mainstream kinda guy or I think he’d have gone far in this contest. I understand his father passed away while he was in this competition, so he’s really been up against it. Quirky guy, but my heart goes out to him.
(And speaking of quirky, I enjoy Taylor’s voice, but something is not right with the bunnysuit man.)
Not surprised to see Will or Kinnik go home (since, duh, I picked them to go.) Will wasn’t handling the pressure all that well I don’t think, but he’s a cutie (Bobby Brady anyone?) Kinnik had all kinds of power in her voice, just not a lot of control. A shame - talented girl. But I think it was the right call based on performance.
So…we have our top 12. Interesting, colorful, and diverse group of kids. Should make for a fun season.
(And I don’t know what to make of Kellie Pickler, but man, I gotta love her. Spence did something really dorky yesterday, looks up at me, and goes,”I’m a mink!” Cracked. Me. Up. Definitely part of the Kauffman Household Lexicon from now on. So thank you, Kellie, for that. It will be the gift that keeps on giving.)
Okay, now on to Big Daddy, aka Survivor…
Wow, interesting week. I liked the immunity/reward twist. And as much as I’d have loved to see La Mina get their act together (has there ever been such a fit, together, happy tribe that has done so poorly?) Altho, to be fair, the contests are usually close, but it just freaks me out (and entertains me greatly, sorry) that Casaya keeps winning when they can barely make a fire. Mostly because I adore Cirie and I just get tickled to death watching her deal with the loonies. (Yes, Aras, I’m looking at your yogi behind, too.) The reward was awesome. But is it me? Why is it Casaya never seems to get sick? I’d have thought gorging on all that food would have made them all vastly ill later. Of course, they might have and we just didn’t get to see it (which is fine. Less puking visuals, the happier I am.)
So…second only to watching La Mina possibly send Shane to EI and thereby saving him (just for grins…he really is whacko, and he needs to go, but that would have amused me greatly. And it’s all about my amusement, after all.) Anyway, so second to that scenario was watching them save Sally (because the men really have to start leaving this show, too.) Loved it. Was sorry to see Dan go, but I was happy he got to share his stories of space flight before he did. I think they made the right choice with what they had left to choose from, but I would have never picked this team to get Pagong’d the way they are.
And waaaah (because I’m spoiled) on only having 2 shows in the next 3 weeks, but they look pretty entertaining, so at least there is that. Show of hands on who the injured party is? Early odds would say Shane, just because he looks about one bad snail away from losing his sh*t all together. I only hope it’s not Cirie.
Have a great weekend everybody!

I’m not reading because I’m writing, and never the two shall mix, but before I dove into my own manuscript I read Crazy Cool and LOVED it.
Congrats to Muirshield. Have not been watching too much TV lately so can’t comment on Project Runway, etc. As for what I am reading, I just finished Sorceress of Faith by Robin Owens. It was excellent. It is second in a fantasy series from the Luna line. Have a great weekend everyone!
Congrats Muirshield. I had 3L of ice cream for your birthday but my fridge/freezer decided yesterday was a good day to kunk out. Chocolate, orang and vanilla melted together is really messy. So today I’m just sitting here reading A Cowboy and a Gentleman by Ann Major(finished Bootcamp with Leslie Kelly, Heather MacAllister and Cindi Myers yesterday)waiting for a new fridge.
Because the O.C is now on at 9 I can watch Survivor. Shane has got to go. I love that Cirie just sits back and watches the disintergation. I hope that they get rid of Aras soon because as soon as there is a merge he will form an alliance with Terry, Austin and Nick. Didn’t see too much of Bruce, almost forgot he was part of that tribe.
Congrats Muirshield.
I am currently reading the anthology, My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys.
- I agree with your Project Runway MAC…I wanted Daniel to win.
- As for AI, Will reminded me more of Peter Brady than Bobby and I was shocked that Kevin made the cut.
- On to Survivor: I was sorry to see Dan go, but think he did it with dignity unlike some of those voted out in the past. I don’t think it is Cirie who gets hurt. I recorded Survivor and played that part in slo-mo, definitely not Cirie on the stretcher unless they are playing tricks on us. Terry and Cirie are probably my favorites on that show.
Have a great weekend!
Happy Bday in advance. Now that is the way to celebrate; giving us gifts. LOL.
I am currently reading Deirdre Martin’s Penalty Box. VG. Love that series.
Recently finished Talk Nerdy to Me and Deb Macomber’s anthol with 2 others - Hearts Divided. Also very good.
Happy w/e all.
Going out Sun for dinner for my mom’s 86th bday which was the 7th.
Right now i am reading Jude’s Law By Lori Foster. i am half way done and it is very good so far.
Jill - I can read outside the genre when I write. And hey, isn’t Crazy Cool part of that Tara Janzen series you’re supposed to be sending me? Hint hint.
Cherie - I want to get the latest Mercedes Lackey from the Luna line, but haven’t picked it up yet.
Christa - all that melting ice cream (my one vice) is a crime, I tell you, a crime! Sorry for all the mess. Ugh! Glad you have some good books to keep you company while you wait for the delivery guy.
Jennifer Y - yes, Peter Brady is definitely a closer match. Bobby Brady just sounds cuter. LOL And thank you for Zapruder-ing those previews for me! Shew! Glad to hear it’s not Cirie. Should be interesting, but three weeks? Waaaaah! (and I’m a huge hoops fan, too!)
Pat - Happy 86th to your mom!!
And Jasmin - I have great title envy for that Lori Foster book! LOL
congrats. reading crazy wild by tara janzen
Happy early birthday
I just finished reading Date with the other Side by Erin McCarthy and just returned from Chapters with 2 more of her books (Pregnancy Test & Heiress for Hire).
Hope you have a great weekend.
Happy early birthday! Just finished Fatal Burn by Lisa Jackson—excellent read.
Got my new fridge today. Brand new. Exciting. I finished Cowboy and Gentleman about 7 and have now started Men of Courage during commercials.
I loved all that negative shocks on Las Vegas. LOL
I just got done reading Love @ First Site by Jane Moore. Good book
Christa - I tivo’d LasVegas but haven’t watched it yet - always enjoyable! Glad the fridge got there okay! The ice cream is safe now. I can sleep better.
Nope ice cream was all gone, melted. Yep the super in my building are pretty good at fixing things.
Donna - will pass along your bday wishes to my mom. Thanks.
Response to comments RE:
Erin McCarthy - Her books are great. Have been on an Erin kick, reading Pregnancy Test, Date with the Other Side and Heiress for Hire. GREAT, GREAT. Have Mouth to Mouth lined up very soon.
Just finished Divided Hearts - Deb Macomber etc. anthol. Warm and fuzzy read.
Loved Penalty Box by D. Martin and am currently enjoying Liplock by Susanna Carr.
Lorraine Heath anthol - how is that book? I loved all her older western historicals.
How was Bootcamp? Wanting to read that and the Heath book. Will have to look for them.
Congrats to Muirshead. Enjoy.
And I LOVVVE Ice cream too!
I miss my Dancing with the Stars and Drew. The next wone prob wont be on til the Summer. Would love to see Lisa Rinna co-host and Harry be a contestant. HAVENT heard - did Drew’s wife have the baby?
RE Survivor - Yes Shane and Aras must go. I took like watching Cirie just sit back. Felt bad the astronaut got booted and while I do like the pilot - what’s name, dont like the way he just steps up and figures what he says, goes.
Just my 2 cents on all.
Enjoy your Sunday.
Happy Bday Donna, and cant wait to see the bday surprise you have in store for us!
How are YOU celebrating?
Nice format on this blog if I must say myself. Can I add that the value of good content on the web has diminished but not on your pages. Great stuff–David
Glad you like, David - and thanks for taking the time to say so.
I don’t know about improving the overall web content, but we do have fun around here. Drop by again.
