Friday Giveaway Day!

Thanks to all of the Blog Babes for playing along with the contest this week! Our lovely winner this week is Kim H from California. Woo hoo, way to go, Kim!! Your book will be sent along shortly.

So…Yay! Survivor is back on, Survivor is back on! :)

Major spoilerage here, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know who got booted!

I really enjoyed last night’s episode. It was chock full of castaway goodness. With ten survivors left - 4 on La Mina and 6 on Casaya - we have our merge. Now, I know that, based on, well, pretty much everything they’ve done (exemption Cirie) I should be rooting for the friendly manly manness + Sally of La Mina. And yet, I find myself rooting for Casaya. Partly - well, mostly - because I’m rooting for Cirie (and Bruce, just because) - and partly because, well, Terry irks the crap out of me. Who does he think he is, coming in two players down and offering Cirie and Shane fifth place? Fifth? Ooooooh, there’s a tasty temptation, except, you know, not really. Um, hello, Terry? They already have that one pretty much locked up where they are. Worst case is they get sixth at this point, if they stick with the current program. He really annoyed me, but then I wasn’t real keen with him switching off from his promise to Very Pale Dan either.

I will say that Terry is most definitely playing the game for Terry, and that is how it should be. But so is Cirie. The only difference is I really like how Cirie is playing for herself. Terry? Not so much. And to top it off, he could have brought his tribe count a bit closer to even (thereby actually giving him a tad of leverage) if he’d let Nick or Austin win immunity, then used his idol if he was the one voted out. That way, his team controlled who went home. Which would have been Shane, and I’d have loved to have seen that one play out! But no, Terry may act like he’s a team player, but he’s playing strictly and solely for himself. (Again, perfectly fair, it is a game. Still don’t like him.) So he lets Nick take the fall. Now they are 3 - 6 against Casaya and he is totally in it for himself, with his immunity idol as his main backup - that and his ability to win immunity on his own each week. So…not a big Terry fan. He’s nice to look at, but then, so is Austin. But I actually like Austin.

And wow, was Austin convinced he was going home or what? So he reveals his See-how-weak-I-am strategy (which WORKED! I laughed and laughed at the faces on the Casaya tribe) and then finds out he’s not the target after all. And the Oscar goes to….Austin! Nick goes home (after one of the most protracted and pre planned goodbye speeches ever - I heard what he said, but really, what did he mean? If you’re in your mid twenties and confused rise up and we’ll heal the world as one? Hunh?? Prolly just me, but I really didn’t exactly get his Improve the World game plan there.) Anyway, Austin is kinda adorable, and he’s a writer, and he consoled Sally on her divorce saying exactly all the right things and then saved her, to boot. I like the guy.

Hey! Maybe he and Bruce and Cirie and Sally could team up. I could live with that. Quite well actually. Send Aras, Shane, and Terry packing….followed swiftly by Courtney and…I can’t remember her name. Possibly it’s the constant plumped up and pushed together cleavage blurring my vision. (What is up with that anyway? Yes, we get it. They’re perky.)

Of course, if the women are smart, they’ll let Casaya kick Terry and Austin off (once Terry uses his idol AND loses an immunity challenge, so might take awhile on that score)….but if that happens, then that will leverage the power into the women vs men court, if they bring Sally over. Only problem is, Courtney and Leave it to Cleavage probably aren’t that together in team management skills. Altho Cirie is…. Will remain to be seen if she wants to step up in such a visible way, though. Then Sally and Cirie could duke it out for the win. Maybe with Bruce in there somewhere, just for fun.

So…nine survivors left, who is next?

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

  1. I am so glad Survivor is back. I like Cirie too. But I also like Terry. I am not sure why because just about everything you said is probably true, but there is just something about him that makes me like him more than the others. If he gives up his immunity idol that he found like it hinted at in next week’s scenes then he is an idiot. Shane remains my least favorite.

Donna thanks for the Survivor update. I missed it this week. Only 2 more hours til Las Vegas, please don’t let it be a repeat like last week.

  3. thank you very much.

  4. Congrats Kim!!!!

  5. Congrats Kim!
I’m newer to your blog and am thrilled to learn you are as obsessed w/Survivior as me.I really like Bruce and Cirie too.I can’t stand the rest of their tribe though and wish they would have hooked up with Terrys tribe. They would be in same spot either way so why not be with the more pleasant people. I so wish Shane was gone the very first vote,he really bothers me with his manic freaky outbursts. He had plenty of time to quit smoking or do the patch when he was chosen to be on Survivior, any smart person would have done that. If Terry would have given Nick his immunity idol then Shane would have gone home that way too, darnit.Terry isn’t as smart as he thinks thats for sure!

  6. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy Las vegas was a new one.

  7. I taped Las Vegas last night - yay, I’m glad it’s a new one!

Agreed, will be interesting to see how Terry decides to use the idol as a bargaining chip. I, too, wish Cirie and Bruce were on the “fun squad” but I think she is smart to stick with the group for the time being. It’s certainly not out of loyalty or love on her part, but just trying to play the game as smartly as she can. With only 3 La Mina players left, it would be like jumping to the sinking ship. But I’m sure Cirie more than anyone would love to leave her teammates behind. She spends most of her time rolling her eyes. When it comes to Casaya, so do I. LOL

They bug me, but something about watching such a dysfunctional group still manage to win just cracks me up. They’re like the bad news bears, so incredibly inept, and yet…they manage to pull it out. I find myself rooting for them just because it’s so perverse to see them triumphing over the “big league” team, you know? I’m sure it makes Terry nuts. Which also cracks me up.

My dream scenario (which will never happen, but it’s fun to imagine) would somehow have Austin, Cirie, Bruce and Sally team up…while also somehow forcing Terry to team up with Shane, Aras and the boobsy twins. (Preferably after one of them is gone, so it would be 4 on 4.) Much hilarity and wacky hijinks would ensue. Or at least it would explain the medical intervention when Terry is finally forced to kill Shane. LOL! Ah, one can ponder anyway…

Since you’ve seen Las Vegas, are Mary’s lips bigger or is it just me?

  9. I think Mary looks a lot thinner - almost gaunt-ish - which makes her lips look that much bigger. But yay on a new episode!

  10. I never thought Josh Duhmel would take a bad picture but the one in that calendar was pretty rough. I was laughing too hard when Sam pulled out the calendar for the whole bar to see. And when they first realized it was a gay calendar. rofl. I just love that show.

  11. Yes, the calendar was too much. Loved it!

I also loved the part where Ed totally played the “Love Doctor” and Jillian with his sad story about his mother making him feel like a failure. I like the way they’ve developed that relationship. Of course I love James Caan, so…

But what about next week??? Danny and Delinda again? Really???? Hmmm……

  12. That would be to Die for tv watching if Terry did in Shane,we can dream, lol.
I don’t want Delinda back with Danny, ick. I think they should have explored Danny and Sam,they did for an eposode last season and I liked the chemistry. People probably wouldn’t like it though because Sam is a strongwilled character that takes no crap and doesn’t need anyone to take care of her.Danny to me is like a knight and needs to rescue his woman.

  13. Danny and Delinda just don’t make sense to me. I liked Mary and Danny though. There is something so special to me about friends who fall in love. * sigh *

  14. Congratulations, Kim!
