Just how much…
…can you squeeze into a dorm? More than you’d think.
But, boy I’m glad I have sons… We’re standing in the store, picking up last minute supplies, and another parent asks me “What colors are you going with?” At my confused look, she added, “You know, what is their room theme?” Um, theme? Boys don’t have themes. Or colors. They shove stuff in every nook and cranny they can, set up all their technology asap, make sure the mini fridge and microwave work, stick up a few posters. Aaaaand, done.
I’m okay with that.
I took this shot standing outside my son’s dorm building. I know. Sucks to be him, right? Poor kid, forced to study and look at that all day.
So, the return road trip commences early tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back on the road and my son is anxious to get started on his classes. He’s majoring in outdoor education and leaves on his first orienteering trip in two weeks. (He starts with river orienteering, and moves on to mountain, desert, canyon, glacier, etc.) I know. How cool is that? Is it too late for me to go back to school?
Don’t forget to check last Friday’s post for details on how to win a book this week. I’ll post the winner’s name on Monday.
More news from the road this weekend….somebody warn the butterflies!

WOW, what a beautiful view. I don’t think mortal man can do much to improve the room decor with a view like that!
What a great view from your son’s dorm room.
What an amazing view. My husband has been rethinking his career choices maybe I need to tell him about your sons.LOL
We just moved my youngest son into his dorm, too. I am amazed at how much better the dorm rooms are now. When I was in college, I lived in a small room and had a little fridge. My son has a fridge, microwave, computer, TV with 90-something channels, and a small sofa.
My son went to Ithaca college in upper state NY. Great views with a great education. You perfectly described their idea of decorating.
Whew, excellent view! My boss is an avid outdoorsman, and when the weather turns even the slightest bit warm he’s angling to be out in it. He takes mountain hiking trips every year, bikes sometimes 30 & 40 miles in one day.
Not me…I love the outdoors, but I tend to like a toilet to be avaliable! lol
Have a safe trip back!
My daughter elected to get her own apartment (2nd yr.) and even she didn’t go with a “theme” lol. She went with whatever furniture etc. was given to her or she could buy cheap.
Beautiful views in Colorado. I remember when I visited my nephew how strange it was to be driving and be so close to those mountains, almost seemed like it was a stage setting I was going to drive right into until I got used to it.
Wow, I hoped that I would never have to go back to school, however, I would really reconsider if I could live there!!! That view is awesome! Amazing! Good luck on your way back home!!
Awesome view. I had a wonderful river view from my desk at my last job… and don’t know how much time was spend looking out the window instead of working.
River orienteering? Would that be white-water rafting??? My family went on a rafting trip last weekend and we’re already planning one for next summer. So much fun!
LOL Donna! My son goes back before Labor Day and hopefully this year he’ll take less with him because this moving is exhausting!
It is a great view. There’s so much happening inside and on the campus there that they won’t miss home.
What a beautiful view. I wouldn’t get any work done if I had a landscape like that to gaze upon.
That is a beautiful view. I am envious. Boys definitely don’t look at colors which is how my son ended up buying five pairs of khaki shorts one summer.
Now that is a gorgeous view! It might be a good thing he will be going on orienteering trips instead staring out of his window.
How lovely! I don’t ever remember having views like that when I was in school… And I don’t remember such cool majors either! (Not that I’m much of an outdoorsy person, but how awesome a choice that is!) Have a safe drive back (to you and the butterflies ;))

That seems ludicrous, but I guess my decorating skills leave much to be desired!
