On the road again…
Well, the girlfriend and I successfully left my son behind….I believe he was playing beach volleyball as we pulled out of town. Or was he already swimming in the Yampa…. Or taking test runs down Howelsen Hill’s Olympic training run…. Yeah. Poor kid. Hope he manages to fit in and not miss home too much.
So, the gf and I decided we’d take an extended, scenic trip out of the state, which took us through several national parks. It was one wow moment after another. Gorgeous ride.
Which is a good thing. Because the next twelve hours? Yeah. The view? See below. Rinse, lather, repeat. For hours. And hours. And hours.
But the drive out was well worth it. Today we’re vegging in St Louis, there might be some retail therapy involved, preparing for the Big Drive home tomorrow.
See last Friday’s post for a way to win a free book this week!

Wow, that national park scenery is gorgeous! (Although the tedium of the range scenery is inspiring for other reasons ;))
Yeah, there are some stretches of driving in the mid-West that can be completely mind numbing. Last time I did that drive, I was in my sisters car and she only had the radio and a tape deck (and about 3 musical tapes). Trying to find good music to listen to to pass the time was quite challenging.
I remember that tedious stretch when we drove from Colorado to a rodeo in Wyoming, good thing for the radio and tapes.
Love the pictures. Sounds like a great trip.
Love the pics of the mountains. The rest, not so much lol.
Wow, you and the girlfriend are really having a chance to get to know each other well! Do you think she is THE ONE for your son?
It sounds like you have a pleasant traveling companion in the girlfriend. The photo of Roosevelt National Park is beautiful! My cousin lives in Iowa and she just laughs when anyone asks about the scenery.
Beautiful scenery, be it flat or not so flat! There has been some beautiful weather for a trip like yours! You hit it about right!
