I enjoyed watching Maks dance with Edyta. You tend to forget how much the pros have to really tone down their performances in order to dance with complete novices, and how great they make those novices look…and then you watch those two and go, “Wow!” His outfit would have been such a scream if he’d been in competition at the time. A shame all around, but glad we got one last peek.

And though I could have done without the screechy parts, I thought J Hud was one of the best live, non lip synching singers they’ve had on the show. Also the Rockettes can be on my television anytime. Loved them. They make that precision look so over simplified, but wow, just absolutely wow. Made me want to pull out all my old Doris Day and Kate Hepburn movies and watch them again just because they so evoke that era for me.

On the getting down to business part of the night’s program, our hosts clearly surprised the pros and the stars by announcing, when they were down to four pairs left, that no one was going home. However, the scores of this week will be retained and added to next week, so it’s not a bye. And they went on to reveal who would have gone home…and it ain’t Cloris, folks! Nope, sniff, it would have been Rocco. And sure, he’s headed out in the next few weeks, so it doesn’t really matter, but I’d rather keep him around and let Cloris and Susan go first, but, in the end, I imagine it will all play out as expected.
