SHaQ Attack Monday!
Hello, Blog Babes!
The weekend writer’s conference was wonderful. The booksigning at Turn the Page was a rousing success. (And thank you for joining in the fun with the “virtual” signing - it was great to see so many Blog Babe names pop up in the pre-signing “virtual” pile I had to sign. You guys rock!)
Before the madness began (and lasted for five straight hours of signing craziness!) I took a few pictures of our participating authors. I thought you might enjoy…
Starting from the left and working our way around the room…we have Karen Rose, Heidi Betts, Sally MacKenzie, Gail Barrett, and Tracy Anne Warren.
Next up is Carly Phillips (on the right) and Moi…(Diane Perkins was to Carly’s left, but didn’t make it into this reader’s photo! Sorry, Diane!!)
Next up is (from left to right) Patricia McLinn, Mary Janice Davidson, Kathleen Gilles Seidel, and Sabrina Jeffries.
And last, but never least, is the Bump in the Night ladies, (and my roomies!) Mary Kay McComas, Ruth Ryan Langan, Mary Blayney and, of course the Redhead. (Better known as Nora Roberts.)
Then it was off to Harpers Ferry and the lovely Hilltop House. Our room is in the very tippy top (the gabled window in the roof). Fantastic view down the river.
A bit of that fantastic view from that window, of the rivers joining and the train tunnel through the mountain…(love the sound of that train whistle echoing over the water at night.)
All in all, a wonderful weekend with great seminars, great speakers, great food (ahhhh,) and great friends…
Now, on to the part I know you are all waiting for. This week’s SHaQ Attack!
Something fun this week…we’re having a SHaQ Attack Detour. For all you non Amazing Race watchers, a Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons. This week, you can choose between Challenging, for all you experts out there who love a good test of your mad search skillz, and Merely Demanding for those who don’t want to cramp their brain (or their fingers) so early on a Monday. (Or Tuesday….Wednesday….
)
The rules are: You can’t enter both contests. Read both challenge questions and pick one. Follow the directions for the SHaQ Detour of your choice and email me the answer at donna@donnakauffman.com with either I’m Challenging! or I’m Demanding! in subject line (based on which detour you took.) If you get the answer right, you have a chance to win a book on Friday Giveaway day. We’ll have one winner for each contest. Each winner can pick the book of their choice from my bookshelf. Comprende? Good. Off you go…
Blog Babes who choose Challenge must search the internet or their bookshelves to discover: Who is Balgaire, and which one of my books was he in? (That’s right, the answer is not on my website. Hey, you said make it harder. I did.)
Blog Babes who choose Merely Demanding must also do a little internet hunting to tell me: Which Glass Slipper godmother came up with Cinderella Rule #1? (No, it’s not on my website, either, but figuring which book and what page the answer is on is pretty easy. Hint - there’s a rule for every chapter! Worst case is you have a 1 in 3 shot of getting it right!)
Good luck everyone, and happy racing..er, hunting!

Thanks for the great pics with you and fellow writers. I don’t know how you get any workshops, seminars or speaking done because I would be visiting with everyone and sightseeing. What a beautiful place to stay.
The contest this week is great,I love the Amazing Race theme. How long did it take you to come up with this? Your getting pretty clever! Although both detours look tough to me,well I’ll see since I’m going to attempt it now.
I edited the “Merely Demanding” detour to include a bit of clue. I know you are up to the task!
Yes, Hilltop House is a great old place. We’ve been having our annual retreat there for more than two decades. We take over the whole hotel, about a hundred or so of us total, including writers and guest speakers, editors, agents, etc. Given the intimate setting and low attendee cap there is plenty of time to attend a few workshops (we don’t schedule a ton,) and catch up with old friends, even walk into town for a bit of sightseeing. Very rejuvenating.
Beautful virtual tour Donna. Thanks. Hmmmm, a new contest to think about.
great pics, love those authors
Great pics! Tough contest!
Thanks for the pictures! Now I can’t wait to get my signed books!
Hi again. Who the heck said to make the contest harder? Not Me. LOL. I couldnt come up with answers for last one.
Will try really hard as I I Want The Great Scot.
I have looked and looked and now I’m resigned to the fact that I must do the Merely Demanding contest. Darn, I really wanted to read Dylan’s story now!!!
I’ll have to stick with my original entry too! I really wanted The Great Scot too! I don’t remember saying making it harder…LOL.
Didn’t notice it before…quite clever.
man best friend
Didn’t notice it before . . . quite clever.
