The results…a little surprising.

Dancing With the Stars…had an unfortunately leather-clad, do-wopped do’d Brian Setzer singing Stray Cat Strut (would have rather seen him at his orchestra leading best) but it also had Louis! Louis and Karina danced like they were on fire. Literally.

The Macy’s 150th celebration left me a little unimpressed. Enjoyed the James Brown knock off, and the futuristic (if the future is, oh, now) was cool, but overall, it needed more Wade, or David Scott, or…somebody. But, good try.

That leaves the encore, which went to Julianne/Cody to the surprise of virtually no one, but a bottom two that did raise a few eyebrows. Cloris survives to clown again, but the surprise there is she wasn’t even in the bottom two. I predicted her and La Lucci, with Susan heading out. Well, Susan was in the Bottom Two…with Toni/Alec. And it was Toni (not Tony) taking leave this evening. So, a bit of a surprise there as I figured she had another few weeks, and wouldn’t go until after Susan and Cloris were gone, perhaps languishing a bit with possibly Lance and/or Maurice, depending. But my heart doesn’t need unbreaking, as, it’s agreed that she really hasn’t grown much. I just think she’s a better performer than Susan, so that part is a surprise. (Cloris staying will never be a surprise.)

So, next week Len is taking a break from judging and we get a special guest judge. And he’s definitely connected to the dance world, but I’d have never guessed, if I’d guessed all night. Yes, Lord of the Rings, Michael Flatley, will be the guest judge. Would you have guessed? I think not. So….that will be interesting. Wonder if they’ll put Carrie Ann between him and Bruno to keep a cat fight from exploding. Although…that could be entertaining. We’ll see!

We’ll also get to see Cloris do her madd hip hop skillz (and sadly, her impromptu hip hop moves, prodded by Sam, were about 1000 times better than Sam’s impromptu beat boxing. Which, don’t do that again, Sam. Ever. Cloris, on the other hand, wasn’t too shabby.)

Whatever the case, it won’t be boring. What did you think? Surprised? Shocked? Still trying to picture Flatley and Bruno together? DISH!

And don’t forget to enter this week’s contest. Details in Monday’s blog post. Good luck!

We have a winner!

And it’s not Kenley! So all is right in my world. Leanne wins Project Runway, and it’s certainly a most deserving win. However, I have to admit, that, based on the runway collections, my favorite, hands down, was Korto’s collection. Loved the color, the styling. Yes, she can over do, but my god with Leanne and all those flaps. So…it was a toss up, and I hope they had a tough time deciding, but in the end, a deserved win. And Korto gets fan favorite! And Kenley gets squat. So, Yay!

Tonight is Survivor - don’t forget to enter this week’s contest. You have until 8pm EST to get your votes/guesses in. See Tuesday’s post for details. Winner announced tomorrow! Good luck!!

Everybody dance! Again!

I enjoyed watching Maks dance with Edyta. You tend to forget how much the pros have to really tone down their performances in order to dance with complete novices, and how great they make those novices look…and then you watch those two and go, “Wow!” His outfit would have been such a scream if he’d been in competition at the time. A shame all around, but glad we got one last peek.

And though I could have done without the screechy parts, I thought J Hud was one of the best live, non lip synching singers they’ve had on the show. Also the Rockettes can be on my television anytime. Loved them. They make that precision look so over simplified, but wow, just absolutely wow. Made me want to pull out all my old Doris Day and Kate Hepburn movies and watch them again just because they so evoke that era for me.

On the getting down to business part of the night’s program, our hosts clearly surprised the pros and the stars by announcing, when they were down to four pairs left, that no one was going home. However, the scores of this week will be retained and added to next week, so it’s not a bye. And they went on to reveal who would have gone home…and it ain’t Cloris, folks! Nope, sniff, it would have been Rocco. And sure, he’s headed out in the next few weeks, so it doesn’t really matter, but I’d rather keep him around and let Cloris and Susan go first, but, in the end, I imagine it will all play out as expected.

Tonight we have fashion! We have design! We have Kenley going home! We hope! I’ll let you know tomorrow. In the meantime, don’t forget to enter this week’s SHaQ Attack contest - details in Monday’s post.

DISH!

Racing, sometimes it’s amazing. Sometimes? Not so much.

Wow, so right off on last night’s Amazing Race, we see a tearful Sarah trying to explain to Terrance during the ESM portion of the leg (that’s Eat, Sleep & Mingle) that she kind of likes having the mingling parts, that she actually enjoys interacting with human beings other than just him, but fears he sees her speaking - at all - to anyone other than him as some kind of personal betrayal. He walks away, she calls him back saying they haven’t resolved anything, and he says, “there is no resolution.” Just….wow. Seriously, Terrance? You know what I say? RUN, SARAH!! RUN FAST!!! And, also, there’s this part: Yes, he’s a nightmare of passive aggressive assholiness, but why is she, this smart, bright, personable person, putting up with it? Yikes.

Then, bam, we also get Ken and Tina, explaining that they’d already decided before the race that if they didn’t move forward and figure things out, post-cheating, that there would be no marriage healing, and they were done. And he was clearly leaning toward being done. Now, no excuses for betraying of the vows. None. Zip. Zero. However, given they are now looking at the future, thinking of going forward, and he says he wants a life partner, not a life sentence, and I say? IT ‘S A LIFE SENTENCE, KEN, RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. RUN or DIE! RUN!!

Just sayin.

Then we get the fun-derful comic relief of Comic Book Dudes saying, essentially, thank god they aren’t on the race with significant others so they can just behave normally and not have to live with the repercussions of living with other person afterward, to which, after seeing the previously commented on two couples? I say, AMEN, COMIC GUYS! Can I be on your team?

Sheesh.

Not as fond of Team Recently Divorced, Team Marry Me, Now Already, or Team Fratnfurters. Well, I like one of them, but Dan, dark haired dude, stop being such a whiner.

Team Super Sibs is still okay, except for teaming up with Team RUN, KEN! RUN NOW! Team Long Distance Daters…like them, too. Team Southern Belles isn’t really making much of an impression either way. Like Team Mom/Son okay. It’s only hinting at borderline creepy how close he is to his mom, and I say that having a great relationship with both of my grown sons, but…I dunno. I’m taking it at face value. For now. And liking them. For now. She plays hard with a sense of humor. I like that about her.

Okay, now for the racing stuff parts.

First off…Tina? Shut UP about rescuing the entire race by getting a bigger plane so all the teams could be together. Seriously? Show of hands as to who thinks they owe Tina squat? Yeah, me either. And, because it truly can’t be said often enough, RUN KEN!! RUN SARAH!! while I’m at it. Karma sends Ken/Tina to the back of the pack, but totally doesn’t pay attention to punishing Terrance. Ah well. Oh, and Dan? STOP WHINING. Wow, when does it get fun? Thank you, Stephanie, for having a “wow, we’re lucky” epiphany when seeing a country filled with people way less fortunate than you. Also, ha, on the “a mechanic could get rich here” comment. Come on, it was a little funny.

So was Team Comic Book, channeling Yoda. Way to go with your strength. As did Terrance, whose strength is not listening to anyone. Which got him as far as he deserved to go. Which was running all the way back to the cabs, and the back of the pack. Ha on Team Divorced digging for the empty tube….from the other Detour they didn’t choose. Oh, and shut up, again, Tina. And Terrance. Why do the biggest asses have to be good racers? It’s like nightmare Colin all over again. Squared. I’m sure enjoying the Mom/Son team a LOT more with every passing minute. And thanks, Sarah, for at least ONE snarky response. “Yeah, because we’re sightseeing.” HA.

And while it was very nice of Dallas to give them info, I agree on not giving a team a ride because they couldn’t read the clue. Most especially when the team includes Terrance. And it seems as if almost all teams have clued in on him already, and they’ve only hit one pit stop. Yeah.

I liked that the Road Block made them figure out the clue. And how Team Comic Book (and most of the other teams) decided to beat it. And their sense of humor all the way to the end. Also noted: Ken and Tina still don’t like each other much. Anytime they have to actually, you know, like hug, or kiss? Very awkward and forced. They are so over. And the love for the Comic Book Guys grows. The Road Block totally turned the order of things upside down. Ken/Tina come in first. Yeah, I know, Karma’s memory, so shortlived. Anthony/Stephanie were bounced when A couldn’t figure the Road Block out. All in all, a very fractious leg. I’m happier with the teams I was liking, feeling no different about the teams I didn’t. And still not sure I’m loving this season, yet. Bring back the Bee Keepers!

Also? Did you see the Survivor commercial? They are totally picking new teams this week. Now that? Rocks! Ha!

Okay, on to the SHaQ Attack contestportion of this week’s festivities. To win a free book this week, just send an email to donna@donnakauffman.com with “I dish because I care, I deserve free stuff” in the subject line. And because clue reading was such an important part of this week’s episode of Amazing Race, well, if you were Team Divorced & Can’t Read Clues, reading the rules of the contest matter. Just sayin. Winner announced Friday!

In the meantimem you know you want to….DISH!

Yay! National Stay At Home Week is here!

So….naturally, I have to travel. I know! What is UP with that? But, alas, I am heading out later this week, so while I should be able to recap Dancing With the Stars, Survivor & Greys will have to wait for next week. Perhaps I’ll pair it with Amazing Race (which won the Emmy last night - woot!) and do some Mondo Monday MAC. Depends on how late I get back.

This also means no SHaQ Attack contest this week (boo hiss, I know, sorry!) but I’ll make up for that next week, too, with a Double Winner Week. That will also be the week that my new release, To All A Good Night, hits the stands, so it’s only fitting we celebrate the launch right!!

In the meantime, did anyone watch the Emmy’s last night? Wow, worst opening ever. Howie? Dude. Share the time, babe. The only host who could actually handle the thing was Bergeron and he got the least airtime. It might have actually been entertaining. Instead, despite all the yesteryear visits, it came off kinda cold and lifeless to me. Ah well, enough about awards for shows, let’s get on with the shows themselves. Yay!

Tune in tomorrow for Dancing With the Stars MAC. Until then…DISH!

Top Designing Mondo MAC

Mondo MAC!

First, Top Design

Okay, I hate both season’s You’re Gone catch phrases. And is it me, or does India Hicks, who I otherwise like, have the most pretentious British accent evah? The queen is like, what? Lady Di is no longer with us. Come on. All that said, however, I really liked this episode.

After doing a whole loft in two days last time, the designers get a small space to work this time….very small…and have to work with a partner.

It was nice to see Andrea, who I’m mostly liking (but spent the whole time dissing her partners last time, which, she got stuck with Shazia the Useless and the Outside the Box guy, so who wouldn’t) talk about how she was hoping to learn something from her partner, Eddie (chief designer for Martha Stewart Magazine), this go around. I’m also impressed with the level of skill and the current positions in the industry these guys have. Must still be tough if they’re taking time off to be on reality tv.

So, the task is to create a functional home fallout shelter. I watched this episode on 9/11. Something just too wrong with that. And Natalie, yes, darlin’, we want something comfy and cute so our surroundings don’t harsh our buzz while the bombs are falling. My. Goodness.

Okay, last week they got 2K to design and furnish an entire loft. This time? 6K for a fallout shelter that is a fraction of the space. But, you know, it’s important that the design aethestic is Just So in a space you might be forced to live in for a long time. Yeah, they should have aired this one just about at any other time, I think. But, putting that aside, let’s talk about team dynamics.

Eddie/Andrea seem a good match. I like that they’re going for nature colors.

Then you have Earth Girl Ondine and Cute Boy Preston Lee, who go for sky colors, but decide to split the room so it’s part for her (so she can… write her novel?) and part for him (to design things…for post apocalyptic world?) I think the challenge was to design a functional space that reflected the aesthetic of both designers, not an actual living space for the actual designers. But. Whatever.

Then we have, wow, Care Bear Kerry and Shazia the Wonder…Not. I like him, but he’s so nice and I’m not sure he’ll put his foot down and make Shazia, you know, design stuff.

But, even more entertaining (if you’re in a dark comedy mood) is Architect Girl Jennifer (who has never designed anything, except, you know, exteriors, and…was possibly a man in a former life. Just sayin.) and Pissy Robert, who is still Very Unhappy from working with Preston in the last challenge and has no patience for Never-Designed-Nuthin Jen. I’m not sure he has patience or the ego to work with anyone. Good times.

And, the icing? Whimsical Wisit and Horseman of the Apocalypse Nathan. Who immediately bond and design their royal bomb shelter palace. I know. Sweet, isn’t it?

Natalie (of the buzz harshing) wants glamour in her shelter, yo. She dreams up this whole scenario about who is bombing them and why (something about transformers, the Chinese, and Hiroshima…. Um. Nope. I got nothin.) Teresa is happy she has a partner who is so entertaining. Yes, Teresa, but don’t you, you know, want to win?

    End of Night One

… Surprising (to me) is that Natalie/Teresa’s bunker, which is crammed full of stuff, actually looks really wonderful, with lots of depth to the room, and texture that really beckons me in. Not sure how well I’d like it for months on end, but it has a very oasis feel to it. Much like by me.

Eddie/Jennifer is far more minimialistic, and while I like it, especially the tree painted on the wall, I think I’d go all sanitarium after a short while. (And note to the producers: We get it. Her husband is Rick Schroeder. Stop making her mention it while talking about how she wants to build her own name. LET. HER.)

Jennifer/Robert…well, they look like they just got started and it’s just junk piled up and white walls and, Jen is understandably concerned that Robert has his own vision which we’re not sure he’s actually shared with Jennifer, and she’s all “the rules say it has to be cohesive” and he’s all “that doesn’t mean matchy matchy” and I’m all, “Yeah, but it does mean you have to WORK WITH SOMEONE, ROBERT” but he blithely continues despite my yelling. I’m sure they’ll Make It Work, but….wait, no I’m not.

Wisit/Nathan are behind as well, but I like the ceiling draping…so far.

Kerry/Shazia…see initial description of team dynamics. Rinse, lather, repeat. Poor Kerry.

Preston/Ondine opt to bring personal items into the bunker to make it look as if they literally moved in. We didn’t get to see Day One of their bunker, so that makes me think either top two or bottom two for them.

Finale Day….

Mentor Todd makes his rounds.

I’m happy to see Eddie/Andrea’s space look a lot more homey now with the addition of more accents. I like it much, much better. Todd - thumbs up.

Jennifer/Robert….not much improved and Todd immediately calls them out on “sad dorm room” diversity, which, uh, yeah. Todd - thumbs down.

Shazia/Care Bear - Todd likes, but we see very little.

Ondine/Preston - Todd’s liking but from what little I can see, it looks really clinical and cold. Very hospital shelter. With designer furnishings. Sorry, guys. I like you. But mmm. No.

Nathan/Wisit - he’s liking, but again we see little and what we do see looks terribly unfinished.

Natalie/Teresa’s - still my fave (I know! Though Eddie/Andrea’s now is a very close second, maybe tied as I keep seeing it updated…) and Todd likey likey’s too, but tells them to edit, which, yes, there is a lot of stuff in there. I agree. Still, me likey. I’d give it top two.

Okay, let’s see the final rooms and how much my mind changes when they actually show us the whole space for the first time….

The judges go into each space and YES folks, Wearstler is back with the crazy hair n’ hats. Worth the price of admission for that alone. I wish she was my Crazy Aunt Kelli.

First up…Care Bear and Shaz. Looks inexpensive and very all purpose room. It does look open and airy, as they hoped, but it’s too family rec room for me.

Nathan/Wisit is next. I like it better than the last one. Still, it’s too minimal and pale pinky for me. Very attic bedroom. In my aunt’s house. Crossing fingers things improve as we move to the next one.

It’s Natalie/Teresa and it’s more lime-y looking this go around for me, and still cluttered. That first shot, way back on Day One, was still the best look. I’m not as enthused, which harshes my mellow, but it’s still my fave thus far. I love the depth and textures. It appeals on a more sensory level to me than the other colder decor rooms. And yes, Natalie, you could chillax in there. (Sigh.) Still, though I think Eddie/Andrea might edge them out with me, I am impressed.

Robert/Jenn - still too Diverse Dorm, and Jen does throw him under the bus, but I’m completely okay with that. He’s an ass. (Why mince words.)

Eddie/Andrea are next, and yeah, definitely my other top two. I really like the space. Again, it’s warm, inviting, and has sensory-appeal. You need that kind of depth and texture if you’re going to be stuck in an otherwise sensory deprived location. It’s what I don’t like about the cool, airy, open, minimal look. In the end, that’s too cold. I want to be embraced. This one does that. However, to be perfectly honest, I’d be chillaxing with Natalie worrying about the Chinese transformers…. I know!

Preston/Ondine bring up the rear, and it’s less clinical, but the above still applies, and their space comes up lacking there. I liked their design aesthetic better than the other “cold” rooms, though. The ceiling cover is way too busy, but otherwise, there is a blend of the serene and the warm. Just not enough for me. I think they confuse serene, spa, airy, calm with cold, blue, silver, minimal. I think warm colors, rich textures are far more inviting, and, hence, serenity inducing, especially long term, than such cold colors could ever be.

Bottom two for me - Jenn/Robert, easily. And Kerry/Shazia. Sorry, Care Bear. But no worries - it’s gonna be Jenn or Robert. I’m not a Jen fan, but Bobby needs to fly.

Top Two - Natalie/Teresa and Eddie/Andrea. I’d be happy with either team winning.

What do the judges think?

    Thumbs up

= Nathan/Wisit, who ranked 4th out of 6 for me were Top 2 for them. Go figure.

    Thumbs up w/ enthusiasm

= Eddie/Andrea. Yay! Who go on to win and I’m good with that.

    Thumbs middle

= Teresa/Natalie, (the verdict was love but too over accessorized) they were third

    Thumbs middle

= Care Bear/Shazia, okay but too boring. (Way, but they were 5th for me, 4th here.)

    Thumbs down

= Preston/Ondine, who were 3 for me and bottom 2 for them. Hunh. Too sporadic and dormy they say. So the flip was them and Nathan/Wisit, but otherwise we were pretty much on track.

    Thumbs down

= Robert/Jenn. Total buzzkill was the verdict. Uh, yeah. No surprises here. Total agreement.

Who goes? Should have been Robert, but they weren’t privvy to his pissy ways, so Jen goes. Which, she was out shortly anyway. So, okay. Except Robert nodding in approval as they named her, all I’m so much better than you. But then, THEN! HA HA! They say he was also to blame, and whoomp, there it is. He’s out, too. Very. Satisfying. Thank you judges for letting him have his smug moment, so it was all the more gratifying to boot him out. Buh Bye, Bobby. (And you know he’d hate being called Bobby. Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.)

Next week? Yay, hybrid show crossover! Woo hoo! Former Project Runway contestants (I spot Sweet Pea, Andrae (!!!) and Santino…there are five total) are the clients for this challenge. Can’t wait. Bring the Pop Design back, too!

Okay, so on the Penultimate Big Brother (Sunday’s upcoming rehash doesn’t count) we get the HoH competition and the winner booting out the number three, to give us our final two. Dan wins Part 1 of the challenge while spending a lot of time being faux-mad at Memphis for tossing Keesha, to throw Jerry off track. Part two, which is mental/speed oriented, goes to Memphis. And producers, we could do without ever, EVER, seeing Jerry in his tighty-whities again. Keesha goes to the jury house to be with the Mean Girls & Renny. And you can pick a Fave Juror to win 25K. Wow. Renny or Keesh. I wouldn’t give the others 25 cents. Final HoH battle between Dan and Memphis - doesn’t matter who wins, they will go to the finals. But xxx wins. Jerry is out. Renegades make it to the end, but Dan is totally the most deserving winner. We’ll see next Tuesday!

Now, finally, FINALLY, the winner of this week’s SHaQ Attack contest. I asked you to name two heroes with accents (other than Scots) and almost all of you came up with Brit Dominic Colbourne, (Bad Boys, On Board), and Aussie Devin Archer (The Royal Hunter.) There were others, but these two definitely qualify. Only one can win, and that Blog Babe is? Susan C!! Woo hoo, Susan!!

Tune in Monday for another scavenger hunt contest and more MAC. Only one more week and our shows are back, our shows are back! Have a great weekend!

On the road again…

Well, the girlfriend and I successfully left my son behind….I believe he was playing beach volleyball as we pulled out of town. Or was he already swimming in the Yampa…. Or taking test runs down Howelsen Hill’s Olympic training run…. Yeah. Poor kid. Hope he manages to fit in and not miss home too much.

So, the gf and I decided we’d take an extended, scenic trip out of the state, which took us through several national parks. It was one wow moment after another. Gorgeous ride.

Roosevelt National Park

Roosevelt National Park

Which is a good thing. Because the next twelve hours? Yeah. The view? See below. Rinse, lather, repeat. For hours. And hours. And hours.

home on the range

home on the range

But the drive out was well worth it. Today we’re vegging in St Louis, there might be some retail therapy involved, preparing for the Big Drive home tomorrow.

See last Friday’s post for a way to win a free book this week!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

So, I just got done writing a huge, MAC-laden Val Day message and……poof, into the internet ether it went. I will do my best to recreate and repost later. Sorry, gang!

However, I will repost the one important part of the note - seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day, I decided to give a Valentine to my Blog Babes and giveaway not one, not two, but THREE advance copies tomorrow in the SHaQ Attack contest. You have until midnight tonight, EST, to get your answers in. Details in Monday’s post. Good luck!

And Happy Hearts and Flowers Day :)

Monday SHaQ Attack contest!

Okay, so I haven’t made you guys do much scavenging in our Scavenger Hunt Question contest, (yes, that is where the “SHaQ” of SHaQ Attack comes from, in case newer Blog Babes were wondering…) so this week? We’re hunting. A wee bit, anyway. Valentine’s Day is this week, so I’m giving away a special prize, although the winner will have to wait a wee bit as well.

The contest? Name three books that feature an animal as part of the cast of characters. I know, I have animals in almost all of my books. It’s not that hard. The catch? Has to be three different animals. I need the animal’s name, what type of beast it is, and the title of the book.

Bonus prize if you also name the book with the upside down swimming goldfish!

Email your answers to donna@donnakauffman.com with It’s a zoo out there! in the subject line.

The prize? An advance reading copy of the final Men of Trinity, Inc book, The Black Sheep & The English Rose! They won’t arrive until March, but hopefully it’s a prize worth waiting for. You’ll still beat all the other mere mortals by about six months as it doesn’t hit the shelves until August. And don’t worry if you don’t win this time around…I have a birthday coming up next month and I think that it might be fun to celebrate by giving away a few more!

But you could be the very, very, very first if you win this week. So give it a shot!

Good luck! Happy scavenging! :)

It’s raining, it’s….camels

And Phil’s spiky hair. Oh, Phil.

Last night on The Amazing (Soggy) Race….Pretty interesting leg once you got past all the airport bunching. I was so sorry to see the sisters go, especially when we had a chance to see Screeching Lorena and her Very Understanding Boyfriend Jason finally hit the bricks. My god, who could deal with that? Well, Jason, apparently. But not me. Show of hands on who wanted to shake her and tell her to get a grip and grow up a little. Can you imagine having such a complete screeching meltdown everytime any little thing stressed you out? I mean, sure, I’d love to be four and throw a major, foot stomping, full body flinging temper tantrum in the middle of Wegman’s every time they’re out of Edy’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream, but, somehow, I manage to hold it together. Hold it together, Lorena. Sheesh.

Ron was kinder to Christina, and he had a hernia - which everyone from Amsterdam to Ouogoudougou knows about considering he never shut up about it. In fact, Ron just never shuts up period. What I loved? When the camels got agitated over his singing. Silence, Ron. It can be peaceful. Look into it.

TK and Rachel, running a spiritually uplifting race…mostly in the wrong direction. If these two can do one leg without a major detour (and not the kind they have to play every leg) I’ll be stunned. More stunning, that they’re not next to last every leg. But they’re kind to one another and having a great time, and for that, I am grateful to keep them around.

Jen and Nate? Not so much. Not as grating this go around, but boy do they deserve each other or what? Loved that she’s all superior about her learning skills, but who knew the African word for Fish, Jen, and got you your clue? Yep, not you. These two could go far far away (on some other, non-televised race) anytime and I’d be happy. Please take Lorena with you.

Hendekea and Azaria rocked this leg, came in first, won another vacation together…and, I just don’t really like em. No particular reason, either. They’re completely nice people. So, it’s a quandary. But….there it is. Was I the only one who thought it was kinda….unfortunate, that they’re busy celebrating their trip to Bermuda on the Amazing Bathmat, while their helpful African student stands there with them, sort of looking lost? I kept thinking…he has no idea about Bermuda and never will and yet without him, you wouldn’t have won the trip. So, shut up Hendekea and Azaria.

Kynt and Vyxsin are still doing well. Totally laughed over her opening his door and how he brings out the chivalrous side in her. These two? I do like. So, yeah, go figure, right? But they race well, they’re totally enjoying the race and each other, and that’s nice to see. Way to go, Pinky and the Brain!

Donald and Nick, also racing well. What I like? Is that Nick totally lets his granddad go for it on the tasks. I mean, if you’re going to bring your granddad on a race, then you kind of have to let him race, even if you think you could do it better. And Nick does that. I could do without the inappropriate comments about the sisters from Donald, but I love that he’s just going full tilt in this race. And the man can milk a camel. So there is that.

The Blondes are still racing well, though my love for them diminished this leg with their standard Ewwww Africa! Ewww Flies!! comments. Sigh. But I’d still rather have them there then some others. (Lorena and Jen!)

All in all, good episode. Stubborn donkeys, kicking camels, and desert downpours…..it doesn’t get much better, really. (And awwww, baby camels!)

Next week, The Blondes get devious. No! I’m….so not stunned.

Tonight? It’s Dancing With The Stars semi-finals! Who will go home? I hope you know, because this week we’re having a Mini SHaQ Attack contest. With the holidays upon us the end of the week, we’re going to have a Half Week Contest. So, you early-in-the-week blog reading babes have the edge! Tonight they dance, tomorrow someone goes home. You guess the right contestant, you’re up for a free book. Answers have to be in by 8pmEST tomorrow! Winner announced Wednesday, then the blog resumes the following Monday.

Will it be Marie? Mel? Helio? Or Jennie? Send your vote to donna@donnakauffman.com with All Done Dancing in the subject line. Good luck!
