Well, the last night of competition was fierce, y’all. My favorite night of the whole season by far, as it should be, but isn’t always.
The solos didn’t do much for me, except Danny was awesome as usual. The top four dance to Cabaret was good, as expected. Love the stuff they did with sliding the chairs. Yow.
On the pairs….
I actually really liked the little fox routine with Lacey and Sabra and didn’t get all the Wade bashing that happened. Sort of sucked for them when I really wanted a girl to win this year and the jidges collective buzz kill put that in question for me.
I definitely loved the Danny/Neil pairing ALOT, but am I the only one who kept waiting for the part where Neil leapt over Danny’s head as he did in rehearsals? That said, I don’t know HOW they managed to do all that dancing (and now that I’ve seen the final night, too, I’m exhausted for them!)
On mixed pairs, I really enjoyed all of the pairings. I agree that the Neil/Sabra hip hop wasn’t as hard hitting as before, but with all the dancing going on tonight, that’s understandable, and I found it really enjoyable and entertaining. Thought the Danny/Lacey waltz was lovely and their lines really gorgeous. Lacey and Neil did a great job with the Lindy Hop, that was crazy. But really, really loved Danny/Sabra going all Latin on us. Wow.
I ended viewing that final dance show without a clue who would or should win. My feeling was that it should be Sabra (please!) or Danny (who, you just can’t argue that he’s stunning, truly stunning.) I agree with my previous tv boyfriend Cranky Dan that I could watch him for a very long time without ever, every getting bored.
So….that brings us to the two hour, jam packed final results night. I loved this show. I thought it was one of the best results shows in a very long time, for any reality program.
Things I didn’t like: Stupid Cat/Nigel dance pimping. And two musical guests that were fine, but took slots I’d have rather given to more dancing.
Things I did like: all the rest of every single second. Wow, that was satisfying! I loved Brandon the clogger, LOVED LOVED LOVED that they brought back Brian. I was just pumped up for every part of it. I loved the montages of the tryouts, each one set to great music that really kept me revved. They reprised almost every favorite dance I’ve enjoyed from the whole season. The only one I’d have subbed was the Lacey/Kam Mia routine for the Lacey/Neil Mia one, but I understand why they included that one. We got to see Hok, Jesus, no Jessi, Anya, Sara, Pasha, more Sara, more Pasha, no Jessi…. Really, it was fabulous!
I was surprised Lacey went out before Neil, but was thrilled with the final two of Sabra and Danny. I know fans will quibble over Nigel’s stupid polling for votes for the girls last night (could have slapped him - let them win on their own merits, dammit.) But I don’t think anyone can argue that both Sabra and Danny easily deserved the win. I was thrilled for her, as I wanted a Sabra win, but was still disappointed for Danny. God knows he’ll have a lovely, long career anyway, but I’d have gladly taken a tie.
I already hate that it’s over! Wah!! I want more dancing and now we have to wait until forever for Dancing with the Stars to come back. September 24th, in case you were counting the days. Not that I am or anything. I hear that Julianne’s brother is a pro on the show this year, as is her previous competition partner. Word is they’re both wonderful, so that could be exciting. Lots of rumors on the celebs that might be on, but nothing confirmed that I could find. I’ll be sure to dish when I hear or read anything. And please, do the same!!
Okay, now on to this week’s SHaQ Attack winner! I asked you to name the two sets of brothers I’ve written about in my previous Brava series. The answers are: The Morgans - Jace, Tag, Austin, and Burke. And the Chisholm lads - Brodie, Dylan, Reese, and Tristan. The winning Blog Babe this week is…..Cathy M! Woo hoo!!!
Tune in Monday for another round of SHaQ Attack and….uh…..gulp! What will I MAC??? I’m feeling a little lost here. Wandering in the woods, like one of Wade Robson’s orphan foxes…. Wait!! Top Chef isn’t over yet! And I still have this week’s episode to watch. Also, I’ve been taping Last Comic Standing now that it’s the Real Show. Maybe I’ll check them out. It’s only been a few hours and I’m already having serious dance withdrawal people. All I have is cooking I can’t eat….and the possibility of occasional laughter. I’m not sure this will fill the bill, but what’s an orphan fox to do??
Hurry up Fall Progamming!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
