Oh, the drama! Oh, the..zzzzz

Seriously, right? So, on American Idol, 47 million people voted and all of them assumed Adam was safe. Good job, Americker.

Things I loved:

Adam screwing the show’s pacing by going, “Um, this group” in five seconds flat. Ha.

Adam being wrong. Nothing says pick up that phone like putting your favorite son in jeopardy two weeks before the final.

What I also loved?

Adam possibly not winning. Now, I very selfishly want him entertaining me for free for as long as possible. But, for Adam’s sake, it would be so great if the show Daughtry’d him.

The Final Four. Sure, I’m not a Gokey fan ($6000 cleaning bill. Must have been some seriously expensive carpets you smeared icing into, my man) but it will be an entertaining final four, that’s for sure.

What I didn’t love:

Danny giving a two hour answer to Ryan’s short question. Shut up, Danny.

Natalie Cole, though she looks wonderful, considering.

My reaction to Taylor Hicks. I mean, he was kinda hot, y’all. I am so not in like with myself right now.

Jamie going the vocoder route. Best mentor ever, but can’t anyione just sing, dammit? Altho, props for getting the movie plug in there since Fox hates it that you’re in an NBC owned property. HA! Nobody puts baby in a corner.

Things I am excited about:

Rock Week. Two songs each (they’d better!) and Slash taking the mentor program right into the tanker. (What in the hell is he going to tell someone like Kris?)

What else I am excited about…possibly sending Coach home on Survivor tonight. Come on, it could happen!

Your turn….DISH! Who’s your top three? Who goes home next? And how many lives does Sierra have? More than Matt? Where is the Tribal Save when you need one? Oh, right….last week.

They crooned. We swooned. Well, sorta.

It was Rat Pack night on American Idol and color me disappointed. Not in the performances, they were all pretty decent. But normally when we get down to top 5, we get two songs. So I feel kinda gypped.

Jamie Foxx was the mentor (I know, random, right?) except he was really pretty excellent and did a fair job getting the contestants to pull the best out of themselves in a way that they could actually understand. Except, well, Gokey. Who will never get it because he knows he already has it. He’s from a musical family, doncha know.

So Kris sings The Way You Look Tonight and does a nice, soulful version of it. But, again…nice. Not blockbuster. Jamie loves the adorable dude and wants to cut a record with him. And I will agree that he is the most out-of-the-gate marketable of the 5 remaining. It won’t take much imagination to package him in the Mraz Mold. And it will work. Jamie ain’t stoopid. Still…it was nice. And Simon isn’t wrong about him being more confident about his abilities and how it will raise his game if he grasps that. B+

Alison actually pulls out another really wonderful performance with Someone To Watch Over Me, this one an understated ballad where she keeps her growl in check just enough so that we appreciate her singing. I really - REALLY - wish she’d learn to enunciate the words more clearly, only because the way she growl/slurs her way through the song indicates that while she appreciates the material musically, she’s not actually connecting with the song itself. And that disconnect is, I think, a large part of why America isn’t falling in love the Kelly Clarkson Way with her. Still, a very good job for her. A-

Matt sings Funny Valentine and, once again, he proves why he is all over the brink of really defining himself as an artist, but never quite sealing the deal. Also a very, very marketable guy, but he’s not quite owning it like he should, though he did respect his range more clearly this time. B

Danny. Danny, Danny, Danny. Even Jamie is like, Danny, Danny, Danny. He doesn’t know what to do with the earnest poseur either. He sings Come Rain or Come Shine. And he delivers, as he always does. He’s a very good performer-slash-entertainer. (Cut and paste, cut and paste…) But he’s not a defining presence who will command enduring record sales. Sorry. B+

Adam gets the Broadway entrance, and, really, why not? He gives a very Adam performance, the Muse version of Feeling Good, and, like Gokey, he delivers, as he always does. The difference is, I will download this. And buy a concert ticket. He is both entertainer and artist. I’m not sure there’s much more the guy can give us, but then, brilliance is hard to top. At least he’s consistent with it. A

Who is going home? Alison or Matt. I’d go with Matt. Alison deserves a final 3 slot.

Which leads to who goes home on Dancing With the Stars. And it ain’t Ty! Wooot! Of course, who I’d have sent home? Was Robin Thicke. About five notes into song number one. Yikes with the live singing. Stay in the recording studio, Son of Alan. The dancers were the only saving grace. And no, I don’t mean the dancers on the stage with him. (What was UP with that? Did they not explain how this show works? It was like he didn’t get why suddenly the crowd was cheering…and it wasn’t for him.) Then, on Song 2, we got Pasha and Anya and I was SO psyched. Until they came out. What was that hideous mop of hideousness on Anya’s head? Wow, talk about distracting. And their dance was almost manic, when they are normally stunning together. So, major disappointment there. I will just rewatch Dmitry/Kym and Alec/Edyta from dance–er song 1.

Then we get the news that Ty is safe and finally it’s down to Chuck/Juliannne and Melissa/Tony and I’m pretty sure it’s Melissa going, which is a shame that she yet again leaves a show with an unfortunate exit…only it’s not Melissa at all! Wow, the troops really rallied for her. Yay! The flip side, is it kind of sucks to see Chuck go when I was just finally falling for the two. But then, it is Chuck. I’m not crushed or anything. And way to throw your teammates under the dance bus, Chuckie. He seemed happy enough to get out of Dodge and by the time he was done saying goodbye, I was ready for him to leave again, too.

The filler commercials were alternately cringe-worthy and kinda funny. The silver mirror balls did make me laugh. The Make Me A Dance Show Pro competition, not so much with the entertainment. Is this really the best they could offer? Not that they can’t dance, they’re all pros, but the personality aspect isn’t grabbing me. Ashley’s sister dimmed for me this week, and the blonde lost me all together with the pageant-y answer (zing, Samantha! Altho shut up and let Mayo answer the question you asked him. Sigh.) I find Mayo strangely appealing in all his tallness, and Alec’s brother in all his unwashed hair sleazy-still-sexiness. And yet, underwhelmed. Just hire Artem and be done with it already.

I’m thinking Ty is history next week. Leaving us with Shawn, Kim, Melissa, Gilles as the Final Four. Which - not a bad deal, really. I just kind of realized how many women are left and will likely make it to the end. Hunh. Not bad!

And! So You Think You Can Dance is almost here. Woooot squared!

Now it’s your turn…who goes home on Idol tonight? Who goes home next on Dancin? Who’s your pick to win it all? DISH!

Dancers danced, judges scored…I scratched my head. Alot.

Okay, I’ve typed this twice and both times managed to inadvertantly delete it. So, I’m all done with this review, which is fitting as the judges seem to be all done judging the contestants on the actual dances they danced, too.

In a nutshell…Melissa sat out due to rib injury and had to be judged on their rehearsal dance, a la Steve O, which…a shame, really, as it looked cute, but glad she’s still in it.

I thought Gille’s Lindy Hop was horrible and he was way, way off in the beginning and Cheryl had to work hard to get him back on track. Judges? Loved it. Ooookay.

Thought Shawn was cute but not as good as last week, Derek and Kim were very good as always, but left me cold, as always, Chuck and Julianne have totally found their groove thang and were, for me, the best dance of the night, which is such a turnaround I don’t even know what to say. Ty is still not good (we know this, buzzkill Len!) but I heart him so large that it’s not even funny how much I love him. I think the love can’t grow, but he’s such a good guy, week in, week out, it does. Worst dancer left, but the most love.

My scoring and the judges were, apparently, for different dances all together.

Then came the team dance and Team Mambo knew that Team Tango would smoke them, so went totally for the entertainment value, and, for me? I really, really enjoyed it, loved the silly ending, and found it really entertaining. Also? Kudos to Lacey for standing in for Melissa and learning that solo in ten minutes. She has upped her standing as a pro in this game by leaps and bounds over last year. Carrie Ann was a hater and Len and Bruno were all over the place and so that killed a large part of my enjoyment. Thanks, judges.

As predicted, Team Tango rocked the house, despite the fact that the band’s version of Womanizer was horrifyingly distracting. (And yet, no mention of that by the judges, who picked apart Team Mambo’s music, which I thought amped their number up greatly.) It is to shrug. And? Kim was major mistake mode in the beginning of their solo and yet? Bruno gives them a ten. It is to shrug again. And laugh. Then shrug some more.

I have no idea who will go home tonight. Ty is the obvious choice, except the love for him knows no bounds. I worry deeply for Melissa and will hate it if she goes without being there to defend their previous scores…but such is the way when it’s down to six.

If it were me, going solely on who I like to watch the least, I’d send Kim home. We all know this will not happen. I would have had Chuck in that spot, but these past two weeks have made those two way more fun for me, while Kim? The same lack of interest.

We’ll see. Tune in tonight. If you must. My enthusiasm wanes.

Also tonight? Rat Pack Week on American Idol. We’re down to five and the mind boggles a little on who will sing what. Matt should own this, Adam will always own everything, Kris will be adorable, and Alison will be in trouble. Oh yeah, and Danny will sing, too.

Don’t forget to enter this week’s free stuff giveaway - details in Monday’s post. And now? Your turn to DISH! What did you think of the judgery last night? Who goes home? Who is your fave to win…who, not so much with that?

A little to love…a lot, not so much.

Amazing Race last night was really only interesting in, oh, the last five seconds. Before that we had a bunch of racers being Ugly Americans in China (Jamie, Cara, Jen, Keisha), racers being ugly racers, (Margie!) bad swimmers, worse divers, and a Roadblock that should make the producers ashamed of themselves. (Because, if to endure a roadblock causes physical stress is one thing, but to make the roadblock about inflicting pain, aka torture? Wow. Given where we are as a country at the moment, that is the kind of race I have no interest in watching.)

My feelings about almost all the remaining racers changed during the course of this leg. I find myself no longer rooting for Margie and Luke. Supposedly Luke is out to prove deaf guys can get the job done, but then pulls the deaf card immediately when things get rough. Margie is defending her son, understandable, but I’m not loving the side of her I’m seeing coming out either.

Jen/Keisha - wow, on the ugly American, however bonus points to both Jen on encouraging your sister to finish out the leg in a way that pushed without demanding…and for Keisha for doing it. Still…not rooting for this team.

Jamie/Cara - while Jamie incurs most of my disgust, the ugly American bit at the airport seriously diminished my love for you both. So, when you arrived at the mat, quivering and all but shaking with both fatigue and anticipation, to FINALLY claim for your first winning leg….there was a small part of me that didn’t mind in the least when Phil announced you were first team in….but that the leg? She is not done yet. And handed you another clue. Just sayin. Bad for you. Good for Keisha. And I’m not rooting for any of you.

Who am I rooting for? Tammy/Victor all the way, baby. Their attitude is always positive, always uplifting, they seem to be truly loving the challenge, even when they aren’t so good at it. I think the humbling nature of the race has really had an impact on both of them, and I think they’d both be the first to admit they’re the better for it. As far as I’m concerned, they deserve the win.

Let’s giveaway some free stuff and lather, rinse, but not repeat that episode further.

Free book giveaway this Friday. To enter to win? Send an email to donna@donnakauffman.com with “Pick me!” in the subject line. Winner announced right here and only here in Friday’s blog.

In the meantime, tonight we get individual dancing and team dancing. I’m looking forward to that!

Your turn….DISH!

A satisfying start…

…to the end of Timbira. Ahhhhhh.

I kind of liked how Sierra tried to fight for herself. Attempting to rationalize with Coach was definitely an act of courage. Or…something. And I had no problem with her being happy she was in contention to win with one puck left to slide. I mean, Debbie is all “did you see her celebrate? How dare she?” (And I generally like Debbie…) But then when she won, had no problem at all dancing around and hooting about how it all couldn’t have worked out better, yay them, crush the kids dreams, rub it in her face, woo hoo! And she’s standing right there. So, shut up, Debbie.

And next week, to think that Coach has the audacity to ask where her loyalty is after he wrote her name down? Loyal to what? His whim? And how amusing is it that suddenly it’s Coach and Debbie and….um….is that grasshoppers I hear? Seriously with those two. How quick the (supposedly) might have fallen.

Not that Sierra is in any better position. JT’s got no love for her at all, so she’s still a man without a country. Her only power is the value of her vote. I hope she parlays it all the way to the end. She won’t win, but I won’t care. Just sticking it out would make me happy.

I did feel bad for JT having to go back on his word to Coach, then listen to him spout on about how much he knows JT’s word is worth…which I’m sure in real life, out-of-game context, is probably very true. For JT’s sake, I’m glad he realizes that, ultimately, this is a game. And went with the strong move.

And Tyson? Just one word. HA.

Now on to the giving away of free stuff! Yay! Clearly, no one was guessing that Debbie was going to win immunity, because….whyever would they? So everyone had an equal chance this week as I drew from everyone who entered. And this week’s winner is Joyce M!! Woo hoo!! Just send me an address and a few title ideas (in case I’m out of your first one) to donna@donnakauffman.com. I am actually packaging up weeks worth of winnings here today with every hope and ambition of getting them all shipped out this weekend. Thank you for your patience!

I hope everyone has a fantabulous weekend. It’s stunningly gorgeous here today, so I am heading down to the riverside to work. (Nice office space if you can get it.) Now if my two main characters would just get their act in gear and let me write this %$^%$#% story as I planned, instead of heading off in all manner of other directions that I have no clue what to to with, that would be just peachy.

Also? DISH!!

American Idol: Bootin’ 2

So, Idol doesn’t quite have the fluff hour down as well as Dancing With the Stars does. More filler, less fluffible fun. But they try.

The group sing was choreo’d by Pauler and not horrifying, but about on par with the DWTS group dance, which is to say, once is more than enough. I did think they sang it pretty well. I mean lipped it. Still…

Then we had to watch three disco dragons come back out to play. I have no idea what Thelma Houston was wearing and yikes, KC has not gone gracefully into this good night. So that was kinda painful.

Then we just kick Lil right the hell off the show without much warning. So, um, bye? After that we find out that Matt is, somewhat surprisingly, safe. And to the surprise of almost nobody, Anoop is not. Alison rounds out the bottom three.

David Archuleta comes back to sing the most boring song on the planet, the sound all out of breath excited some more about his UK tour. he hugs the bottom feeders, and then?

We kick Anoop right to the curb on top of Lil. Figuratively speaking. In their defense, they both gave really great sing out. And I don’t know that the judges feel bad, since Matt saved himself after their save, so everyone is happy in the judgery.

We send them off with past clips and tears, then contemplate what happens now. My guess is that Matt and Alison have the biggest targets on them, given their past bottom dweller status. I’m thinking Adam, Dannyy, and Kris will stay longer. Though I’d happily swap out Danny for any of them.

My final two? Adam and…whoever kills it best the next few weeks. Right now my pick is Kris. But I could live with Matt or Alison next to him. Just not Gokey. He needs to be out no later than final three. No, really, America. Help a sister out.

Tonight we find out what other machinations might be in store on Survivor, and if any of this week’s blog babes win the free prize. See Monday’s post for details, you have until 8pm EST tonight to enter. I’m thinking it could go any directionk, but would be most satisfied if Sierra wins immunity, and they blindside Tyson. (Coach, while I want him gone, is not an immunity threat.) We’ll see how that plays out.

Now? Your turn to play! Who goes home next? What is next week’s theme? Who leaves the island? DISH!

Mondo MAC-tacular Wednesday

Wowsers what a jam-packed Tuesday, right?

First up - Dancing With The Stars results night. I’ve got to hand it to ABC. If you’re going to do an hour program to essentially tell us something we could learn in five minutes, then at least you don’t make it all fluff and filler. We got a few things, the least of which was the group dance reprise, because, although it was one of their better group efforts, once was enough. But then things improved dramatically with Natasha Bedingfield, who is everything that Megan Joy will never be. Not ever. Enjoyed the haunting song as well as (squee!) Dmitry and Lacey’s lovely dance. The work Lacey put in on both her physique and her ballroom between seasons really shows and I admire her for putting in the effort.

We also get Celtic Woman, which…didn’t do so much for me, despite my love of all things Celt. And I’m pretty sure the couple dancing to their number was a pair from that disastrous Worlds Best competition that was on recently. So that part was interesting, to see them in this venue. Then we had a third performance on the night, this from Broadway bound Burn The Floor. And that? I am totally getting tickets to when it comes out.I really loved the combination of ballroom and Broadway. Definitely enjoyed it more than La Reve.

Finally we get to some bottom 2 action - although we don’t know if this was the actual bottom 2, just that
one of these two is going home. So, it’s either LT or Ty, and we all know which one I want to stay.

But first! It’s You Pick The Pro time! We get three pro couples who are trying to dance their way into your heart while simultaneously trying to beat the partner who’s job it is, in part, to make them look good. I know, like Lord of the Flies of the Dance!

In the first pair we get Season 1 Cutie Ashley Del Grosso’s younger sister, who, while good, is no Ashley.
On the scale of cute, Ashley even out-girl-next-door’s Melissa. Just sayin. Then we get the tall, yet aquiline pair of Anna and Mayo, and while I thought they were the most elegant, and that was quite possibly a more entertaining waltz than we usually get treated to, neither of them grabbed me in terms of watching them on the show with a celeb. The final pair includes Snow, the train wreck personality from Season 1 of So You Think You Can Dance. And although I’m fine with Chelsie, Lacey, and Dmitry being brought over from that program, if they’re going to bring anyone else, their name better be Pasha or Artem. In no combination do I want to see Snow on my screen on any routine basis. However, I could probably live with her partner in this comp, who is Alec Mazo’s younger and equally talented brother. Overall, however, I wasn’t as excited by the choices as I’d hoped to be.

And, in the end, LT is freed up to return to the golf course and leave this place he was well ready to be done with. So all is good and next week? It’s team dances! Yay! I really enjoyed that last season. They either get a Team Samba, or Team Tango. I know who I want to be on Team Tango!!!

Now we move on to Disco Week on American Idol, where the Top 7 will see how badly they can go astray with the most irrelevant music week of the season. So, color me surprised when this? Was very possibly my favorite week yet. Granted, comparatively speaking, this is not hard to achieve. And it was no Dolly Week from last year, but it was damn close. Of course, the interpretation of “disco” was relatively broad, but this was all for the greater good, so I forgive.

We had Lil up first, who, while I agree doesn’t have, and never apparently did have, the chops for this show on the level she needed them to be, I still felt sorry for, because after awhile it’s just no fun to see someone get hammered week in and week out, no matter how hard she tries. So I forgive her the tirade, only because, it’s not going to matter anyway. She Chaka Khan’s her way through I’m Every Woman in a very Chaka kinda way that she does and it’s not going to save her. From yet another public thrashing or from going home. I know the judges are supposed to give helpful critiques, but they need to just accept that telling Lil to “show us who you are as an artist” is never going to garner anything other than what she’s already showing you, because THAT IS ALL SHE HAS. It IS who she is. She just happens to be a really, really generic singer. Move along.

However, just when I thought it was going to be another thrash night, things began to look up! Hunh.

Next up? Kris, who totally Mraz’s the hell out of Donna Summer’s She Works Hard For the Money. (No, seriously. I mean it.) And as long as I don’t watch him sing with that Dana Carvey mouth of his, I actually really enjoyed it. One of my faves by him and a nice addition to the night.

And, is that Vince Neil in the audience? Wtf?

Third up is Danny Jesse Raphael who goes full tilt Hokey-Gokey on Earth, Wind & Fire’s September. And, yet again, he delivers a thoroughly entertaining yet ultimately forgettable performance. He’s a very reliable performer, but he lacks, for me, that memorable element that lifts him out of very-good-entertainer land, to a downloadable performer. I don’t see or hear him as anything that works in today’s market. But that is very likely just me, since I just don’t like the guy much.

Alison is up next and I love what she does with Hot Stuff. Different, interesting, and it works for her. As does her disco bondage outfit. For a change. Nice job, kid.

Then - YAY - it’s Adam time. And I figured since he amped it up last week, and did Funky Music before that, that it would be a slim chance that he’d camp it up, despite this being the perfect week for him to get away with that. And he doesn’t let me down - he slows down a version of If I Can’t Have You to a point where you’d hardly ever get that it was that song. I loved it, I loved his mid range, still get a bit of Adam angsty range in the middle, and a sweeeet ending. Loved the suit in a big way, thought the hair style could have benefited from a bit more focus, but all in all, one of his better stage moments. He always delivers the Adam Experience, and I, for one, am grateful. I’m also grateful that he doesn’t pretend he’s some prodigy who is re-arranging these songs by himself (a la Blake) and makes sure to give credit where it’s due. A professional, this guy. And humble, especially given the praise being slathered all over him by the judges and everyone else. Others could take note. (Danny.)

Poor Matty has to go up next, and he goes full tilt with his version of Stayin Alive. I know. But, for once, though it was nothing earth shatteringly new as perhaps Kris, Alison, and Adam were tonight, he actually found his range and stayed there, put all his energy into it, and delivered a pretty solid performance. Good on you, Matt.

Aaaand, closing out the night is Anoop, who, let’s be honest, didn’t own the pimp spot this week, despite delivering a perfectly respectable version of Dim All The Lights that he did tailor to his strengths. And, despite the biffed note at the end, while not a show-ending performance by any means, was definitely a pleasant way to complete a surprisingly entertaining evening. I didn’t fast forward once all night. Perhaps a sad commentary on this season otherwise, but enough to make me happy.

Tonight, two go home. If it was me, I’d put Lil, Anoop, and, unfortunately, Matt in the bottom (strictly because, comparatively, Adam, Alison, Kris, and even Danny belong there ahead of him.) I’d send Lil and Anoop packing. We’ll see!

Right now, it’s time to get your vote in for this week’s free giveaway. See Monday’s post for all the details.

And right this very second? It’s your time to DISH!! Who goes home tonight on Idol? Who goes home next on Dancing With The Stars? Who do you want to see on Team Tango? And what music theme will we be subjected to next week?

They danced…we cheered!

Great night. Argentine Tango is quickly becoming my fave dance. Both Cheryl/Gilles and tonight Tony/Melissa really smoked - as in smokin hot -their routines. Great opener, Tony/Mel! (And good music this time!) I know some will argue that Cheryl/Gilles AT was better, but while it was sexier, for sure, Tony choreo’d the daylights out of their AT and it was the celeb doing all the really hard parts, so I do agree with Carrie Ann…but more is better with the tango, so it’s all good for me! And, yes, after all…it is all about me.

Everyone dances a style they haven’t done yet. And they all dance a 60’s themed group dance. So much better than last week and everyone did well within their own skill set. Also, this was the week thes stars designed the costumes and, for the most part, good job! I thought it was one of the more enjoyable shows thus far.

Lawrence has definitely dropped some size. They got the waltz and uggggh song. But a nice job.(And yes, she’s never worn so much clothing! LOL) Not the best of the night and I’m pretty sure LT is the next one to leave, but I love how hard he tries. He could be proud that his mama was watching that dance.

Derek and Kim got the rumba. And, I don’t know…I mean, I know they’re not my fave despite being technically wonderful, and maybe it was Kim’s dress, which was a lovely pink cloud, but when she moved in it, you really didn’t see her body moves as much. And, otherwise, it was like they were trying too hard not to be too sexy, then would be sexy, then not again…just didn’t flow evenly. But still a good job technically.

Ooooh, very cool must watch results show tommorrow! They are having a pro contest where we get to vote for who the next new pro will be, who is added to the cast. Woo hoo! Artem better be in the mix, babees, that’s all I’m sayin!

Chuck and Julianne got the samba, and dang, y’all. Whew! That was easily and by far their best dance. Chuck was totally going for it and they really, really poured it on. That was the first time I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed the two of them and really saw the chemistry working. Super job. Not to mention hottttt.

Chelsie and adorable Ty get the waltz. He is such a trouper with the best attitude on the planet, humble, hard working, and with a very wicked, dry sense of humor. And how great is he with his wife? What is not to love about this guy? I don’t even care that he’s not the best out there, I just enjoy watching him try his hardest. It was better than the past two weeks, but in the remaining group, a bottom 2 dance, along with LT. But he’s numero uno in my heart. I hope he sticks around at least one more week.

And apparently Stoner Music Dude took the week off. Good tunes this week that actually matched the dances!

Shawn and Mark get the cha cha cha. (I’m really enjoying them all doing different things - I think that has a lot to do with why this is so much more entertaining as well.) And they should let Shawn design her outfits more often. This was the first one that was really flirty and kinda sexy on her frame. Cute dance, although Mark could have toned it down a hair with the mugging, Shawn looked like she was having a total blast. That was a lot of fun.

And, oooh yeah, we get Cheryl and Gilles in the pimp spot. As it should be. They have the Viennese Waltz, so this should be interesting. (And Gilles in the pool? More of that, please!) That was Disney princess beautiful with a bit of a hot edge. Wonderful!

Group 60’s Dance - love the rehearsal footage. The dance was a lot of fun and Christian’s choreo let it be fun without really any awkwardness. It wasn’t the kind of dance that will change my opinion or vote about anyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Overall, I liked Tony/Melissa the best tonight. But Chuck/Julianne were also entertaining, as was Shawn. Everyone’s performance was fun. Best night of the season so far for me.

I think LT will go tomorrow, and possibly Ty will join him in the bottom 2, but it’s really, really hard to call. What some of them lack in skill they make up for with charisma and charm, so…it will be tough from here on out!

Don’t forget to enter this week’s free stuff contest. See Monday’s post for all the details. Tonight we get Adam singing disco. God only knows how that’s going to turn out. I know I’ll be watching!

And now? DISH! Who do you want to see win Dancing With The Stars? Who should go home next? And are you as excited as I am about the pro competition? Well, I’ll be excited if at least some of them are guys anyway. :)

Weebles wobble…and they (finally!) do fall down

So everyone ran a pretty decent leg. I am liking Tammy and Victor more and more. They handled being “leg leader” by default, as they raced through China with their Mandarin speaking abilities quite well. Should have come in first after all that.

I’m not even going to really get into the over-hyped bitch fest between Jen/Keisha and Margie/Luke other than to say I think they each believe they are in the right and the other person pushed first…and that Phil was right when he was trying to point out that the sisters weren’t laughing at Luke. Everyone was tired and very over done and I’m hoping we move on from that. Also - well done Team Redheads this leg, but wow does Jamie need some self improvement work. I think the part that bothers me most is that she acknowledges she’s horrible to people and that it’s a problem, but kind of shrugs like, “well that’s just who I am.” Grow up. Fix yourself. Kudos to Cara for being able to race with that and stay remotely sane.

I’m glad Team Weeble had a good final leg…and also glad they were finally booted. We’re down to the final four and all the teams left are good racers, so should be a good race to the end.

Tonight - more dancing! Tomorrow night - more singing!

Right now? Free books! First I want to thank all of you who came out to support us at the signing this past Friday. Gorgeous day and a very successful signing. Fun all around!

Okay…so to be eligible for a free book this week, you gotta work for it. Tell me who wins immunity on Survivor this week. You have until Thursday at 8pm EST to send an email to donna@donnakauffman.com with “Not leaving this week!” in the subject header and the immunity winner’s name in the body of the email. Your choices are: Coach, Tyson, Debbie, Erinn, Sierra, Stephen, Taj, or JT.

If no one gets it right, I’ll draw a name from everyone who guesses, so you might as well give it a shot! Best of luck - winner announced right here and only here on Friday.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend - and now? DISH!

Wow. No words.

Okay, a few words. Thanks Survivor production editors for setting up the show beautifully to make us think that Coach was finally not going to infect my Thursday nights any longer, then….denied. You send home a player that I both like and like to look at. And keep Coach. And Tyson. In what universe is this acceptable? Not mine.

Would have liked to have seen the rest of the behind the scenes scheming on why Taj & Co opted to go along with the Coach plan instead of the Brendan plan, but whatever. Possibly they just couldn’t conceive that Brendan was actually telling the truth about his admiration for JT and wanting him in the game. Or think that he is a much bigger threat down the line than Coach could ever hope to be, which? True.

I feel mostly sorry for Sierra, who should never, ever grovel to the likes of Tyson or Coach, and that makes me almost physically ill. But I am holdidng out hope for the Taj Triumph where upon she sits back, coming into the merge down 4 to 6 in tribe members, watches the strong tribe canibalize itself…then takes out the rest of them one by one and Jalapao survives anyway! HA. That? Would be about the only way this game could turn around for me right now.

What else would turn my day around? Giving away free stuff! Made it easy on you this week. All ya had to do is send an email. And a bunch of you did! But there can only be one winner…and that lucky blog babe? Is Carol T!! Woo hoo!! Congratulations! Send me an email with your title choices (in case I’m out of your top choice) and I’ll add your prize to the stack awaiting delivery.

Thanks for playing everyone. Tune in next week for more MAC and another chance to win. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. It’s going to be a gorgeous sunny day here - perfect for a stroll through a picturesque Civil War town and maybe some frozen custard, and oh, yeah, a massive book signing. Hope to see some of you in Boonsboro today! (See Monday’s post for booksigning detals, or go to Turn the Page Bookstore’s website - link in the right hand column!)

But now? Time to vent–I mean talk about your reaction to the show last night. DISH!
