The Barnes & Noble Review From - A Romance Review GOING DOWN? Staying late in case her services are needed, Callie meets the devilishly handsome and very British Dominic Colbourne who is a big investor in the new building. While Stephanie and Dominic are meeting Callie is having lovely fantasies about the handsome Brit. After the meeting Stephanie asks Callie to escort Dominic out on her private elevator. The hour is late and the building is closed up for the night. Being the dutiful employee Callie ushers Dominic onto the elevator. They are on their way down when you guessed it there is a mechanical problem and the elevator stops. There is no one else in the building so the two have no choice but to spend the long hot night in the elevator with nothing to do but talk. Going Down? is Ms. Kauffman's second offering for the Brava line and this one is every bit as sexy as the first. Going Down? sets the scene for a very long night of exploration with two people who have nothing to do to kill the hours but talk and reveal their innermost feelings to each other. The love scenes are certainly hot and make the reader long for a stranded elevator and their own Dominic to explore the long hours until morning. As a long time fan of Ms. Kauffman's work it is good to see this author branch out into other areas with her writing. Long time fans as well as new readers will find this story quite entertaining. From All About Romance: Yowza. The true beauty of this little gem is not so much in its culmination (which is, well, words fail me, I'm too busy catching my breath here), but in the provocative build-up, as their interaction in the dark confines of the elevator changes from verbal - from innocuous to personal to seductive - to physical. And while Dominic is clearly the more experienced when it comes to physical intimacy, his admission that he has not learned how to translate that into emotional intimacy in his relationships adds a nice balance to the exchange, as well as believability to the very endearing story finale. I only had a few minor quibbles with this one; very nicely done, Ms. Kauffman! Grade: A - Donna Newman From Our Editors The Barnes & Noble Review Fans of the erotic anthologies I Love Bad Boys and I Brake for Bad Boys won't be disappointed by the latest installment in the series, which features another trio of sexy heroes. When Lori Foster kicks things off with "My House, My Rules," Ariel Mathers has a plan to turn the tables on hard-to-get Sam Watson. When the tough cop takes Ariel up on her offer of an affair, she agrees to play by his rules. But once they're finally lovers, she's planning to make sure that theirs is a permanent arrangement. In Donna Kauffman's "Going Down?" passion rises quickly. With a failed marriage behind her, Callie Montgomery has set her sights on corporate success, but that doesn't mean she's above enjoying a few hot fantasies about millionaire businessman Dominic Colbourne -- until a night trapped in an elevator with Dominic teaches Callie that real passion beats fantasy every time. Finally, Nancy Warren puts passion in high gear with "A Fast Ride." Nell Tennant isn't thrilled when a brawny biker takes a spill in her front yard. But when the wounded road warrior awakens without his memory, he's sure that Nell must be his girlfriend and is determined to make the passion between them roar at full throttle. Sue Stone
From Word On Romance BAD BOYS ON BOARD…Lori Foster, Donna Kauffman, Nancy Warren BAD BOYS ON BOARD is an anthology with three novellas. MY HOUSE, MY RULES by Lori Foster, GOING DOWN? by Donna Kauffman, and A FAST RIDE by Nancy Warren. BAD BOYS ON BOARD is a fun, sexy, wild ride that will keep you turning the pages quickly. This collection of novellas brings us three bad boys who will make us stop, look and listen. My House, My Rules…Lori Foster Cop Sam Watson is on an assignment to bust a mugging ring. At the bar where he is undercover, he spies a woman he believes to be his brother's girlfriend. This is all he needs, as he doesn't want his cover blown. As Sam heads out to apprehend the would-be mugger, Ariel Mathers rushes to the rescue. Ariel wants Sam, and takes this opportunity to tell him. But no matter how much Sam wants Arial, being honorable, he tries to avoid getting involved with her. She insists, so he plays the part of a real jerk to try to turn her off. Sam's #1 tenet is: My House, My Rules. MY HOUSE, MY RULES takes us through a quick, but thorough, journey to the resolution of Sam and Ariel's situation. But, true Lori Foster style brings us in contact with Sam's family. It's great, really, because while your heartbeat is calming after reading the sex scenes between Sam and Ariel, you get to see the family strength and connectivity. Going Down? …. Donna Kauffman Seduction. That's the word that comes to mind when describing GOING DOWN? This story is about Callie Montgomery, an executive assistant who is stranded in an elevator with her boss's business partner, Dominic Colbourne. Dominic's nickname in corporate life is the Panther, a truly fitting nickname she'd give to him herself. As they are leaving her abandoned office building, the power suddenly goes out and they are stranded in a pitch-dark elevator until the morning crew get in. With a hot and intensely erotic novella like GOING DOWN? we are in for some sizzling action. As we watch the hours pass, and the conversations between Dominic and Callie unfold, we see two kindred souls melding together, and eventually Dominic makes a move. What is wonderful about this novella is that they meld their souls before their bodies and we are left rooting for them. Read GOING DOWN? and you will be able to find out for yourself if these strikingly different people can make something more out of their time spent in the darkened elevator. A Fast Ride…Nancy Warren An amnesia story done exceptionally well is how I would describe A FAST RIDE. Wes Doman wakes up and finds himself in a strange bed in a strange house with no idea on earth who he is. Nell Tennant is the woman who finds Wes hurt on the road and is now caring for him. While doing so, she decides it is high time she takes her fantasies up a notch. In his confusion, Wes is convinced that Nell is his girlfriend, and she lets him believe it. They enjoy each other as often as they can. Nell, however, begins to feel plagued with guilt about using Wes for sex. And, all the while, Wes is desperate to regain his memory. During this discovery time for both of them, Wes meets up with some folks who clue him in as to his identity. So, who is the true Wes? What was he doing in Nell's small town? When will his memory come back? What will Nell do when Wes realizes that she is using him? All questions that are very cleverly answered in A FAST RIDE. BAD BOYS ON BOARD is wonderful collection of novellas. Whether you want to read about an alpha male with his own set of rules, or about whether or not being stuck in an elevator for two people is really all that bad, or whether you want to let an amnesia story remind you that sometimes being at the right place at the right time can lend a hint of fate to your lists of beliefs, you won't be let down. "June 2003., 293 pp., $14.00 Trade Paperback., ISBN 0-7582-04280-9." Bad Boys on Board Kensington Pub Corp Hot! Hot! Hot! Very highly recommended One of the greatest weaknesses of anthologies is that inevitably one of the selections does not live up to the quality of the other stories; however, readers need not have that concern with BAD BOYS ON BOARD! Authors Lori Foster, Donna Kauffman and Nancy Warren team together for three terrific novellas about bad boys and the girls who love them. These bad boys really know how to turn up the heat. Sexy, sassy and seductive, these tales will certainly satisfy lovers of romantica. She previously had dated his younger brother, and Sam has decreed hands off. But he when he takes her home for repairs after their encounter, Sam finds himself in a dominating role in a desperate ploy to remain in control of his own emotions. One of the hottest romance authors of our generation, Foster once again proves her talented pen with this lightly dominating story that sizzles! "Going Down" by Donna Kauffman: A stalled elevator results in an erotic interlude for strangers Callie Montgomery and Dominic Colbourne. Recently divorced, Callie believes she must make her mark in the corporate world after her marriage failed so miserably. Dominic also does not believe himself cut out for romance although he is a successful millionaire. But in the dark, they find common ground and sensual excitement. Kauffman's provocative style sizzles in the ultimate elevator story! "A Fast Ride" by Nancy Warren: A booby trap lands a mysterious biker right in Gertie's beans and results in great niece Nell giving CPR. When he awakens, a case of amnesia and coincidence leaves him assuming that Nell is his woman and that he is a member of the Hog Squad gang. With an opportunity like this, Nell decides to take advantage and to live on the wild side. Warren's gift for the unexpected gives readers a wild ride! Cindy Penn
From Writers Unlimited... "Donna Kauffman has written some of the most deliciously naughty characters to date with Dominic and Callie. These two have blazing chemistry any time they are together. It'll be a wonder that everyone doesn't jump in and enjoy the wild ride right along with them. This book should come with a warning label reading, “Ouch! Don't burn yourself. Hot, hot, hot!” Going Down is truly a romance that is sure to inspire readers to have some red hot moments of their own." Diana Tidlund From Publisher's Weekly
