GET LUCKY

A child of Vegas, Brett Hennessey knows about luck–especially the bad kind. But when this poker superstar hops on his Harley to outrun Lady Misfortune and ends up at a pretty B&B run by an even prettier proprietor, he can’t help thinking he’s stumbled onto a winning streak…

Sure, Kirby Farrell’s new B&B ski lodge opened to the warmest winter in Vermont history, but fate brought her a bad boy on a hot bike and settled him into her best room. She’s still broke, but the view across the breakfast table has definitely improved…

Only now Brett’s past has finally caught up to him. He has two choices: run again–and lose the best hand fortune’s dealt him yet. Or stay and risk everything for something he never thought would come his way…

“Donna Kauffman writes a romantic love story with some twist and turns that will bring two people together. Here Comes Trouble is one of those books that you do not want to put down. I cherish characters that need each other and their communication was touching and it seems as if these two can work anything out.
After many years Kirby Farrell is ready to become independent and opens her own Bed and Breakfast located in Pennydash Vermont. As she rebuilds her life in Vermont it seems as if Mother Nature is also playing a trick on the small town by not having a single inch of snow.
Brett Hennessey needs some space from the life of Las Vegas. He grew up there and has become a poker playing superstar. Lately it seems as if trouble is where ever he is, so he hits the road. Tired of traveling he finds himself in front of the Pennydash Inn asking if she has a room available.
Kirby and Brett have an attraction to each other that they cannot fight. They work out the age difference as well but then Brett’s past comes back to haunt him. Will they be able to figure out why trouble seems to follow him where ever he goes? Does anyone he love that he left behind in Vegas have anything to do with it? Will Brett have to walk away from Kirby or will these two be able to work out things?
I loved this book. I so enjoyed the romance with the touch of suspense. I highly recommend this book.”

“Jackpot!
Two lonely people meet up in a Vermont B&B in Donna Kauffman’s Here Comes Trouble. At 40, heroine Kirby Farrell has left a long-term relationship gone sour and struck out on her own by buying and renovating a Victorian in the Green Mountains ski area. But success is as elusive as the snow, and she’s desperate for business when a gorgeous younger man rides up on a motorcycle. He’s her first guest . . . and a temptation she thinks she can temporarily indulge in. Brett Hennessey has left the bright lights and the big jackpots of Las Vegas in order to figure out the next step in his life. A poker star, he has money and fame, but he no longer wants to pursue either. When he meets Kirby, he begins to think she might be the home he’s been seeking. Cautious Kirby wonders if he might be too good to be true, and Brett has baggage that shows up in Vermont to derail the budding relationship. Sexy, with an emotionally honest core, Kauffman’s latest is easy to snuggle with on a winter’s night.”

“In Kauffman’s latest sensual scorcher, middle-aged Kirby Farrell worries that the mild winter may spell disaster for her Vermont ski lodge—until she’s distracted by Brett Hennessey, a sexy biker in black leather on the run from Las Vegas troubles. “The Tiger Woods of poker,” Brett’s tired of gambling, and he’s tried to make a new life working with his buddy in a renovation company. While he recharges at the quaint bed and breakfast, Brett falls for Kirby, and she for him, but will they take the ultimate gamble on a committed relationship? Kauffman (A Great Kisser) plays out the various “will they or won’t they?” scenarios with her typical finesse, delivering another fun romance.”

“With likable characters and the bantering tone of a 1960’s romantic comedy, this story entertains. The protagonists endured tough childhoods to grow into resilient adults. Brett is a good-hearted guy who is unconcerned about romancing an older woman, although it’s a stumbling block for insecure Kirby. Their verbal foreplay develops into a passionate relationship.”

“Kirby Farrell should be happy, but if something does not happen soon she will lose Pennydash Inn. Then the forty year-old business woman will find herself without a home and all because the weather has been too nice for Pennydash, Vermont.
For professional poker player Brett Hennessey, getting out of Las Vegas seemed like the best thing he could have done. When he decided to retire from the gambling circuit, all his good luck appeared to have vanished at the same time.

Like a dream come true, Brett steps forward with an idea that may just save her business. With her hormones on overdrive around the thirty year-old man, Kirby knows that it is only a matter of time before he notices the sexual chemistry between them. As their time progresses within the Inn, Brett and Kirby begin to discover more and more about each other, including how alike their childhoods were. But when Brett’s idea puts Kirby in danger, their new-found love may quickly be brought to an end by someone willing to do anything to get Brett back in the poker game.

Here Comes Trouble is a great book full of picturesque beauty and steamy scenes. Ms. Kauffman shows the reader how two people with similar backgrounds overcome some very harsh odds that have them achieving major goals in life and making something of themselves. Brett has mixed characteristics like riding a motorcycle yet getting a manicure. Kirby is a woman who has had to learn the hard way not to trust anyone except herself. Both personas have realistic qualities about them that bring this tale to life and will leave the reader happy knowing they have picked a good book to read.”
