Pippa MacMillan is a legend on the Irish folk music scene. But when her voice requires a time-out, she’s left wondering how—and where—to find happiness in the silence . . .
Seeking answers, Pippa leaves Ireland in favor of a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Turns out lovely Blue Hollow Falls in the perfect place to heal—and solitary Seth Brogan is the surprisingly perfect host. After all, Seth is beginning again too: turning his renovated stone barn and beautiful hillside into a vineyard is the start of a whole new life for the former Special Forces soldier. Only Mother Nature keeps thwarting both their plans, leaving Pippa snowbound with unsettling thoughts about how life can take unexpected turns . . .
To Pippa’s surprise, she might actually fall for small-town living. She might even fall for Seth, whose quiet strength is a balm for her world-weary soul. But when the music starts once more, will she follow her fortune back to Ireland, or surrender to the call of her heart?

“TOP PICK IN ROMANCE
In Donna Kauffman’s Bluestone & Vine, small-town romance hits several sweet notes when a famous Irish folk singer travels to Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. After undergoing surgery, Pippa MacMillan retreats to Blue Hollow Falls to recuperate and let her voice heal. She stays with vintner Seth Brogan, who proves to be a wonderful host and also much too attractive. The pair acknowledges their palpable chemistry, but they’re not sure what could possibly come of it, so they try to go their separate ways. But small communities mean tight connections, and soon Pippa is invested in the lives of other townspeople—who in turn do their best to make a match of the wary pair. Readers will appreciate the wonderful sense of place, the well-rounded secondary characters and the deep emotion of this tender and sometimes tearful tale.”
“You know that comfortable, homey feeling you get when you wrap up in your favorite throw, sit in the cushy rocker, and sip hot chocolate while reading a perfect book? Bluestone and Vine IS that feeling. From the first page to the last, Kauffman imbues the story with warmth and sweetness, along with some intense chemistry between Pippa and Seth.
Pippa is an Irish folk singer who is a star in Europe. Maybe not “Beyonce” big, but close. A year ago, while singing at a concert, Pippa’s vocal chords ruptured and she had surgery to repair them. Since then, she hasn’t sung a single note. She is terrified that the rupture will reoccur and she will lose her ability to sing forever. Hounded by the press, she comes to America to get away and have some time to emotionally heal. She lands on Seth’s property to stay for the next eight weeks, as arranged by his sister.
Seth is mouthwatering. Every single bit of him. In both looks and character, this man is a keeper. He finds Pippa as delightful as she finds him, but he is drowning in work. However, this isn’t just a case of bad timing; they both conclude that they should not get involved since they live an ocean apart.
Enter the townspeople of Blue Hollow Falls. These engaging characters actively plot to get Seth and Pippa together, because anyone can see that they have feelings for each other. This town is the real genius to the story. The people contribute to that feeling of caring and are part of the bonds drawing in Pippa and Seth. And me…it drew me, too. I’d love to live in a town like Blue Hollow Falls.
Bluestone and Vine takes “feel good romance” to a new level. I highly recommend it and give it 6 stars out of five.”
~ Reading Obsession
Returning to Blue Hollow Falls for the second book in the series; Bluestone & Vine finally gives us Seth Brogan’s story.
It’s not often I take much notice when an author starts posting pictures of her inspiration for a certain character. Mainly because they never look like how I want to envision them in my head. But when Donna starting posting pictures of the yumminess above that is Lasse Matberg, I was happy to picture the bearded, hairy Viking type as Seth. I can’t say I am a huge fan of long hair on men normally, mainly because so few can carry it off well, but paired with that well thatched beard, and all of it groomed to perfection, I was more than on board on this occasion.
“Who knew being a vintner was such a good workout.”
Seth has been a major secondary player in the series so far, the consummate good guy with a degree in flirting, has up ‘til now, kept romance out of the picture, but when Superstar Folk Singer; Pippa MacMillan looking for peace, quiet and time to recuperate from a year of stress and medical trauma, lands on his doorstep fresh from Ireland with very little warning after his sister arranges a house swap à la The Holiday he feels an instant connection with her.
“This thing… whatever it is between us, at least for me, it’s just a lot. Maybe too much…”
It doesn’t take long for sweet and quirky Pippa to work her way into the hearts of the Blue Hollow Falls community, and even less time to do the same with Seth, even if he does give it a pretty good try in regards to ignoring his growing feelings for her.
“You’ve got a special place here. With some special people.”
But how do a commitment-shy Vintner from Virginia and a Folk Singer from Ireland who is working through her own personal issues, merge their lives in a way that will allow their passions for wine and song to flourish? With enough time spent together to allow their fledgling relationship and growing feelings for each other a chance to build and flourish as well…
He’d always be strong for her, want to care for her, and she would always do the same for him.
This was another strong instalment to the series. Again the author pulls in a number of secondary characters to give depth to the story, I can’t not mention Mabry, Seth’s elderly and perceptive neighbour, because he gave the right advice, and the perfect push to each of them when needed.
“You Yanks are a sucker for a lass with an Irish accent.”
And the inclusion of widower Will McCall and his son Jack was the perfect introduction to them in regards to the next full length book of the series offering up their story; Lavender Blue due early 2019. Donna had me in tears with the epilogue when it came to this grieving father and I am expecting to have tissues at the ready for when I read his book. But we get to return first for Christmas this year with Donna’s novella; A Blue Hollow Falls Christmas being released later this yea of as part of Fern Michael’s A Season to Celebrate anthology, and I cannot wait!
“Never underestimate the power of Blue Hollow Falls!”
~ Claire Robinson, Robinson Reviews
“FIVE STARS! Seth Brogan loves his youngest sister Moira, but he is not pleased when she calls him to let him know about a house swap she has arranged. Moira will be living in house in an Irish village that belongs to the sister of Katie MacMillan, a college roommate, and the sister, who needs a quiet, peaceful place to retreat, will be living in Seth’s home. Seth has enough to do caring for Dexter, his music-loving llama, and his vineyard and winery, Bluestone & Vine. He is already making plans to find Katie’s sister another place to live when she lands on his land and in his life, courtesy of a borrowed snowmobile.
Pippa MacMillan is a renowned fiddle-playing folk singer, a super star in the United Kingdom, although lesser known in the United States. Her vocal cords ruptured during a performance, and recovery from the surgery to repair them is taking longer than anyone expected. The media buzzards are circling, speculating that Pippa’s career is over. Pippa longs to escape from their scrutiny. The fact that she has not sung since her surgery is a closely guarded secret. Even more disturbing to Pippa is that the inner music she has heard all her life has also gone silent. Tiny Blue Hollow Falls, Virginia, seems an ideal place to get away from her troubles.
Despite Seth’s reservations about his uninvited guest, he and Pippa connect almost immediately. They are kindred spirits who share an explosive chemistry as well. The only problem is that Pippa will be returning to Ireland in two months and Seth’s life is his land in Blue Hollow Falls. The community opens its heart to Pippa whom they recognize as one of their own. From octogenarian farmer Mabry Jenkins to thirteen-year-old Jake McCall, his ten-year-old best friend Bailey Sutton, and Dexter the llama, the citizens of Blue Hollow Falls adopt Pippa. Only Seth, the man who helps her recover her music and who wins her heart completely, focuses on an obstacle rather than searching for a compromise and stubbornly refuses to admit his feelings.
This is a series that just keeps getting better. Blue Hollow Falls is an interesting, artsy community that has the feel of home to many who relocate there. This third story in the series (following Blue Hollow Falls and The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls, a novella) is a quiet story that captures the reader with its sweetness and its likable, sympathetic characters. Pippa is a delight with her gifts and her openness, and Seth is a great-hearted beta hero who cares for his family, his friends, and every animal or person who needs his attention. The supporting characters are just as appealing. Readers who loved the first novel will be pleased to see more of the lovable Addison Pearl Whitaker and her youngest adoptee, the old-soul Bailey. Sawyer, Seth’s best friend, and his love, Sunny are also a part of the tale, and readers fascinated by the reclusive Wilson McCall in the first book will learn more of his story and that of his son Jacob. Mabry, the old farmer with his wisdom and his romantic streak, is a heart-stealer and a scene-stealer.
Kauffman makes this place and these people so warm and real that I was ready to return to Blue Hollow Falls as soon as I turned the final page. I can’t wait for Lavender Blue, Wilson’s story, which will be released January 29, 2019. If you are a fan of small-town romance with characters who will win your heart and a setting you wish were real, I suggest you rush to add Bluestone & Vine to your TBR list.”
